  1. The Explorer tells the story of four children whose plane crashes in the middle of the Amazon Jungle, leaving the pilot dead and the kids to fend for themselves in the wild. The unlikely group survive off berries and make huts out of tree branches, and have a growing suspicion that someone else has been there, or, perhaps still is there. Pulling many clues together, they set off down the river on a makeshift raft in search of the explorer. This book explores friendship, insecurites, differences and many other things. I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very imaginative and there was a great sense of adventure. Katherine Rundell is a very creative and talented author. I would recommend this book to anyone between the ages 9 and 12. Great book for a slightly younger audience. 6.5/10! Fantastic!
