The blog for books and movies

22419562I have three months left to call Katie my older sister. Then the gap will close and I will pass her. I will get older. But Katie will always be fifteen, eleven months and twenty-one days old.

Hannah’s world is in pieces and she doesn’t need the school counsellor to tell her she has deep-seated psychological issues. With a seriously depressed mum, an injured dad and a dead sister, who wouldn’t have problems?

Hannah should feel terrible but for the first time in ages, she feels a glimmer of hope and isn’t afraid anymore. Is it because the elusive Josh is taking an interest in her? Or does it run deeper than that?

In a family torn apart by grief and guilt, one girl’s struggle to come to terms with years of torment shows just how long old wounds can take to heal.

  1. I would recommend “the protected” by Claire Zorn. This is a very sad book about a teenage girl who’s sister dies. along the journey of the novel, a boy comes in and helps her come out of her depression and makes her life 100x better. I loved how Claire wrote this book and how it mixed with your emotions. It had flash backs from when her sister was alive. She was a popular type and knew tons of people and went out each night. However, the other wasn’t at all like her. 10/10 would recommend to girls 13+. This was one of my favourite books!

  3. A book I would definitely recommend is ‘The Protected’ by clare zorn. Though out the book, I really loved how it was one of those hard to put down!! I loved it because I have a passion for reading sad stories. In this novel, the main character, Hannah’s sister Katie died and the book is about how hannah remembers how her sister died. she goes through tough times with the school counsellor and her family.
The book had me in tears at times but laughing at others. I was shocked and surprised as well. It was truly a great book! I would recommend you read it because you will love it!
