Heidi is an orphaned girl initially raised by her aunt Dete in Maienfeld, Switzerland. In order to get a job in Frankfurt, Dete brings 5-year-old Heidi to her grandfather, who has been at odds with the villagers for years and lives in seclusion in the mountains. He at first resents Heidi’s arrival, but the girl manages to penetrate his harsh exterior and subsequently has a delightful stay with him and her best friend, young Peter the goat-herd.
Dete returns three years later to bring Heidi to Frankfurt as a companion of a 12-year-old disabled girl named Clara Sesemann. Heidi spends a year with Clara, clashing repeatedly with the Sesemanns’ strict housekeeper Miss Rottenmeier and becoming more and more homesick. Her one diversion is learning to read and write, motivated by her desire to go home and read to Peter’s blind grandmother. Heidi’s increasingly failing health and several instances of sleepwalking prompt Clara’s doctor to send her home to her grandfather. Her return prompts the grandfather to descend to the village for the first time in years, marking an end to his seclusion.

i really love this book and100% recommend it at the start of Heidi it was bit confusing and hard to understand but as the book went on it got better and better . Heidi is a sweet little girl that lives in the mountains with her gruff uncle but Heidi’s sweet and innocent nature softened him and made him realise that there is more to life than sitting at home. Heidi not only changed her uncle for the better but everyone in the book she has inspired me and the characters in the book with the power of friendship and happiness. the author used really descriptive language of the senes in the book and it really felt like you were there .this book is funny and interesting to read and with so many twists and turns it is hard to put it down. i would recommend this book for 9-12 year olds and would rate it a 9/10.

Heidi is a heartwarming book; an orphan girl moves from a simple life in the mountains to a rich life with a rich family to befriend a girl in a wheelchair. Heidi is a great book to inspire a sense of Adeventure and Wonder. It is great book to follow Heidi on her michief and shenanigans. I would recommend it for those 8-10, and give it 8/10. I hope you enjoy it!

Heidi was forst recommend to me by a friend. At first i didn’t like it. In fact I hated it but I wanted to know what happened so I persisted. Eventually I was wound in the tale of young Heidi and Peter in the mountains and their adventoures. Slowly I realised that this was a book that I had totally mis-judged. I couldn’t put it down no matter how hard I tried. I had a love for all the characters in Heidi including Heidi’s grandfather and Peter’s grandmother who I loved very much. Heidi learns to love her life in the mountains and has wonderful journeys. When Heidi is sent away it is happening lll over again. New surroundings and new people that she is unsure about being around. Then when things become serious and Heidi started to get home-sick, loving Clara can she that Heidi just wants to go home. Heidi gets a 9/10 for originality, simplicity and a fantastic use of words.

I love this Classic. It was the very first one i read i love heidi’s story.that it is sending across.
there is a lot of heartwarming moments in this book that leave you feeling great. there is also some wicked and naughty things she does that keep the book interesting and fun to read

I reccomend Heidi by Johanna Spyri. This is a beatiful story of a orphan girl named Heidi who is left by her aunt Dete with her grandfather the “Alm Uncle”. Heidi learns love her grandfather and her new life in the mountains, a place where she can run around barefoot and be free, where she befriends a shepard boy called Peter who comes from a poor family who live further down the mountians ( another place that Heidi learns to love). But then after 1 year her aunt returns to take heidi away to a rich family in frankfurt, germany. Here she is seen as a disobediet and naughty child who has a obvious lack of etiquette. Heidi finds it hard to live in the city where there is only Kara a wheelchair bound girl who is the daughter of a rich man to help heidi. This story is set in Switzerland and Germany it begins when Heidi is 5 years old. I recommend this story to all ages as it appeals to everyone. I first read Heidi when I was 10 and only just re-dicovered it recently.Anyone who enjoys a good book and a happy ending. – Note, I am reviewing the edtion published in 2002. The origional Heidi was published in two parts in 1880 and 1881.
