Sold is such a inspiring sad book, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a sad book. This books about a really poor family they get so poor that they have to sell there daughter her dad couldn’t care less about selling his daughter but her older sister is devastated when she’s told she’s getting sold she thinks that she’s going to be a cleaner but she ends up being brought and is forced to be with older men. One man feels so sorry for all the girls trapped so he told the police and all the girls are freed this is such a sad inspiring journey I highly recommend this book it proves that no matter how hard life is theres still a chance that it will get better. I rate this book 9/10 and recommend tis book for anyone over 13 or a very mature reader.

Wow, this book is extremely eye opening, sad and hopeful at the same time. It gives an insight into what other girls around our age are dealing with throughout the world in such an interesting and jarring way. It is a sad and beautiful read and I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a story that reflects real world problems. I rate this book 9 out of 10 and I hope that many people read this book and sympathise with people around the world who have to go through this.

I recommend the book Sold. It is such a true, heartbreaking and tragic novel. All of these words resemble how I felt after reading Sold. This story has stamped my heart and taught me how lucky I really am. I don’t think I have ever felt this way about a book before even though I had many expectations to start with. This book to me some what resembles a parable, a very long one in fact. Sold had an extremely strong message and meaning. The message I took out of it was that every single individual on this planet has a voice and we shouldn’t be afraid to use it. This book is a terrific reality check and I believe everyone needs to watch it.

I recommend the book ‘Sold’. It is a unique book and thoroughly explains the tragic events that happen in our world right now. It’s very emotional and heartbreaking, it puts you in that image of torture when the main character, Lakshmi explains her feelings and thoughts at that point in time. The book is based on a young girl called Lakshmi, she and her family are poor and needed money, so Lakshmi travels with a lady who offered her am efficient and effective job opportunity. However, the lady lied to Lakshmi and poor Lakshmi there was no way she could escape. She had to spend the rest of her days as a prostitute with only a little money earned. It is truly heartbreaking to hear the torturous words coming out of Lakshmi mouth how she has to suffer in the chamber with one guy after another. Did she ever make it out of the horrible chamber and saw the day of light again? Can’t tell. Read and discover. I don’t know about you, but this book gave me a clear picture of the scenario happening in our world today, it makes me want to take action upon this. I rate this book a 9/10, the author did a fantastic job on writing a book that she hasn’t been in herself. It takes a lot of deep thinking to achieve this and I think she has.

Sold is a sad, touching story which shows the life of a thirteen old girl named Lakshmi and the struggles and sadness that she overcomes of her life in the “Happiness House”. Sold is a confronting book that opens up real life situations to the reader as things mentioned are currently happening all around the world, if the reader can handle the story line then it will be a great book to read. I personally did find it good to read but the way that she has written it shows her age and innocence making it even more confronting. I rate this book a 6/10

Lakshmi is a thirteen-year-old girl living with her family in a small hut in the mountains of Nepal. Her family is very poor but Lakshmi finds pleasures in it all, such as raising her goat and her group of cucumbers. But when the monsoon washes away all of the family’s crops, Lakshmi has no choice but to leave and take a job to support her family.
Her step-father takes her to a village person who then leads her on a long journey, to the “Happiness House”. Expecting to work as a maid for a wealthy family, Lakshmi soon learns the terrible truth: that she has been sold into prostitution.
The first week or so, Lakshmi is stuck in a locked room by herself to do what the men pay her for. Attempting to pay off her never-ending debt to the owner Mumtaz, it feels like jail even after she is moved to the bedroom with the other girls in the house. No chance of escaping leaves her with no choice unless wanting to be bashed or whipped, stung in the privets by hot chillies or having her head shaved, leaves her trapped and unwilling to try to escape.
Her life was turned around when an american helped her free arriving with men, to take Mumtaz away.
The book doesn’t give you to many happy or sad feelings, but more anger or temptation to want to do something to help her in the tough life she is living.
I liked the fact that there were no chapters in the the book, just small sections with headings, because I haven’t read a book in this form and it intrigued me.
Although it was a little bit confronting, I also liked that the book was eye opening, it kind of makes you aware of what’s happing in our world today.
The thing about this book that let me down, was that the ending was basically predictable. She escaped. I don’t like having fairytale endings too often because I like when there is a twist, something unexpecting that finishes the book with a BANG!

Sold is an amazing book. It shows you just one story about this topic and was one of my favourite books I have ever read. I think this is the case because it is a different genre and has a different layout of the chapters. This book made me think about the millions of people that are in this situation every year. It touched my heart from the start until the end of the book. My favourite character was Lakshmi because of her strength throughout the book. She followed her heart and backed up her decisions. She was kind, a lovely person and a friend to all of the other girls and saw a different side to them that other people didn’t see. This is an amazing book like I have already said and I would encourage you to read it. I know that I will be reading this book again and some other books by Patricia McCormick.

I read ‘Sold’ for lit circles and I finished it last night. I didn’t like the end because it was a bit predictable and I wanted to know more. It is a bit scary and I don’t recommend it to people under 13. It is about a young girl in Nepal who is sold into prositution. It is really sad and makes us realise how lucky we are. I do not recommend this book to everyone but it is a powerful book about sex slavery.

I highly recommend you the book Sold. For those people who love to read reality and what is going on in our world right now to an innocent girl who goes through pain and finds her way through, than this the book for you. I warn you this book his horrifying because of the torture described, if you can handle that than there should be no problem. It can be quite confronting at times where you are in that orchard position in the book. They way the author wrote the book in a style and structure is appropraite. My anger is directed at some characters in the book who betray Lakshmi, an Indian girl. They lead her down syco paths where she has no right to be in the position she is in parts of the book, where she isn’t free from hardship. It does make you feel irritated but that way the book gets intense and exhilarating. My favourite part in the book is where the author describes the connection Lakshmi has with her friend at the beginning if the book and where her friend is like her mother. The person she relays on to support,help and care for her. Lakshmi doesn’t have a mother but she has a profoundly brainless and foolish stepfather that all he is in for her is money. This book is about bravery in some ways and courage in other ways, altogether this aspects leads to a solution in a unique way

This story was unbelievable. What the main character Lakshmi went through was horrifying, I felt so many emotions. Lakshmi’s family is poor and living in Nepal. She is sold to a lady who takes her to the city. She is unaware of the horrid truth and believes she will work as a maid but really she has been sold as a prostitute. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. The book was written so well. Although the situation was shocking and the ideas that I was introduced to were very confronting I was made aware of the world around me, of the situations that many girls my age go through each day. I highly recommend this book to everyone, it truly is a brilliant story.

Sold by Patricia McCormick is a heartbreaking yet so real story about a teenage girl named Lakshmi whose stepfather sold her to be a child prostitute. This happens everyday in other countries and it scares me to think that if I was born in that country what Lakshmi goes through could be my reality. Lakshmi is an extremely brave young girl and is very inspiring. This book is a real eye-opener and although some parts are shocking it is only the truth. From the first page you are hooked and it is so hard to put the book down because you want to find out what happens next. I would recommend this to mature students because there are some parts that are very shocking and quite disturbing.

Lakshmi gets sent to the city and sees that the city isn’t as she thought with the golden leafed roofs. An old woman named Mumtaz rules the brothel with cruelty and cunning. She tells Lakshmi that she is trapped there until she can pay off her family’s debt—then cheats Lakshmi of her meagre earnings so that she can never leave. Lakshmi’s life becomes a nightmare from which she cannot escape. I enjoyed this book even though it’s a bit descriptive and gruesome but it has some real interesting points from 14 year old girls in Nepal and how it is happening today.

Sold, is a very touching and sad story that grabs you from the start. If you like wondering what is going to be on the next page then sold is for you. The journey of Lakshmi and her struggles with what life throws at her is so sad but so interesting. I would like to recommend the book Sold. Sad story is what the sticker says on the binder of this book, although I could replace it with so many other words. True, Heartbreaking, Tragic. All of these words resemble how I felt after reading Sold. Some nights I would lay in bed talking to myself about how I feel and how I want Lakshmi act. As I think back now I know that I couldn’t control the way she acted because I have never been in her situation. This story has stamped my heart and taught me how lucky I really am. Sold is a very touching book, from the begin of the book i was touched as when i went to India i saw little girls like Lakshmi and when i was reading this book it made me think of those innocent little girls. Lakshmi is a very brave young girl she got sold for prostration and has stayed strong. At the beginning of the book i found it very confusing. I was at bit lost from the story line but when it all started i started to fall in love with it. I find it fascinating that people would pay for child sexual labour, Through out Lakshmi’s journey she discovers many different people like the American guy who supports her, footy dude and many more. She stay persistence to stay strong and believe that she will be normal again. This is a very good book and i think many people will enjoy it from my experience reading this book i think the it should is around the age range of 14 up because of the types of language and seances in this book I loved this book and it kept me hanging i hope there is a second book. It changes the perspective of how people in Nepal live and how lucky i am to have a loving family would would never sell me for prostration. I am so lucky and everyone is Australia and other places around the world should learn to appreciate there family and all the belongs the own because no many people have experienced having a family who loves them like Lakshmi.
Lakshmi showed great courage to speak out and I could never do what she has done and it inspired me to learn a new language and be conferment and determined to get out of child labour.
I loved this book and hope this book raises awareness and makes people appreciate things so much more.

This book is amazing. It is a very powerful book. It is about a girl that lived in the mountains in nepal with her younger brother, mum and step father. Her step farther has a gambling problem an drake the family go in debt causing Lakshmi (the girl) to move to a brothel. She is told she is going to be a maid but soon finds out that she is really going to be a prostitute. This is very wrong as Lakshmi is only 13. She has many amazing experiences happen to her that I hope nobody else has to go through. At the start Mumataz (boss) threatens Lakshmi because she doesn’t want to sell her body. The because Lakshmi does not want to sell her body Mumataz forces her to drink a lassi which is sort of spiked making Lakshmi unable to control her body. Then she meets a very nice boy who teaches her how to write, speak english and much more. Later in the book an american guy comes who offers to help. Another american does not come back to a lot later but this American guy takes Lakshmi as she agrees to his help and she is saved

I have to say, the story started off a bit weird although good, but ended so badly that I dont even get it!! I mean, all she did was run down the stairs say her name and then BAM! The end. She couldn’t even get down the stairs first. I dont normally mind open ended stories, but this just sounded like a continuation of the story, not even almost finished. I guess it did end in hope that she would find a new life, but that was also what the entire story was about, so their wasn’t even a proper conclusion to any part of the story. Nothing. We dont know if she got home, if she went to school again, lived in a better place, or even if she made it out of the house. It was a very frustrating end to a good book with a good message in it.

Finishing this book I was upset how the book ended. I like having a book ending set in stone and knowing how it ends but this book terrible. The ending was bad and I hated. Patricia McComick had written this book amazingly and then ends it terrible. I turned the page to read the next page and there was nothing there. It was just bad she walked down the stairs and I was like ‘Is she getting home, Will she get shot, What Anita is feeling about her leaving and leaving the closet.’ I also was upset that Shahanna was taken by the police and that Mumtaz just shock it off and got another person. I also wondered with Lakshmi if Shahanna was safe but I will never know and that it annoying! I was also upset about Monica she had been so good to Mumtaz and when she got a virus she couldn’t do anything. I also wonder if Lakshmi is pregnant because she hadn’t mentioned getting her period again. Overall I liked this book NOT the ENDING and NOT the form of Writing.

I really enjoyed reading this book. There were many chapters where i felt i could not put the book down! I really loved the character Lakshmi, she was a very strong character and she made the book even better, but i hate to think that this child is only 13 years old and is forced to be doing these horrible things. i rate this book a 9/10 it was really gripping and heart wrenching! I really loved reading SOLD, by Patricia McCormick. It’s such a touching story, that really makes you feel like you are there with Lakshmi, through her whole journey. Parts of the book made me feel so angry and frustrated, like how places such as ‘Happiness House’ can exist in the world, and at other parts of the book, I couldn’t help but cry for the poor girls and their families who have no choice but to get involved in the business of prostitution. This book was good for getting an insight into how other countries are so different to our own, and how women and girls can be so unacknowledged. I would recommend this book to all teenage girls, so that they can see how lucky they are to have a life like their own, and that they don’t have to experience the things Lakshmi does.

SOLD has been a great book!
The book took you on an amazing journey, that you never wanted to stop. It did demonstrate how lucky we are in Australia and t have the things we own. In comparison to the people of Nepal or India, we have so many luxuries, even though we do not think so. The example of Lakshmi drinking coca-cola and her expression of ‘fireworks in you mouth’ clarified how fortunate we are to live in Australia with working parents, warm house and bed, nourishing food and water, transport as well as multiple other sources.
The description of Mumtaz also demonstrated how lucky we are to have a loving a caring family. Her character was so bitter throughout the whole book which was so frustrating as all the girls wanted to do was go home and earn money a different way.
When it did finish the book, I noticed that I tried tp turn the pages to see if there was anything else to read! I just wanted the book to continue as there was so much detail within every sentence.
I do not believe anyone in Australia would be tortured and treated like these girls were in such a poor and devastating way.

Wow, this book has finally came to an ending and although the times were I never wanted to put it down, I had to this week because its finished. I wish this book could go on forever because I have a lot of love towards this book! I love how my group i was in co – operated with each-other and how everyone got along. The times in the book were I came to the page were I had to finish and had to force myself to put it down! Now its time to summarise this book into an interview and its going to be so much fun to tell the class what we have been reading about and all the experiences we have had together through the book! I even told people on my bus about it and read some of it on my bus with my friend, now he wants to read it !

I read Sold by Patricia McCormick after my english teacher recommended it to me. I knew that it would be shocking and a real wake up call but i never expected how angry i would feel.
Lakshmi’s family is very poor and her family have no chioce put to sell her. Lakshmi thought that she was going to work as a maid in the city of Nepal, doing house hold chores. Little does she know that she has just been sold into prostutution.
What got to me more than just what was happening to these girls was that she was so naive. She had no idea what was going on and she was only 13. She was sold for little over $300 and all she wants to do is pay off her interest rising dept to her sneaky owner. Her dept can never be repaid.
What shocked me was that this story is based on what really happens in our world today. I think, what if that was me? How different my life would be.
What would the world be like today if everyone just woke up to these issues? Maybe all it takes is for someone to read Sold.

WOW I absolutely loved this book so much and would love to read it again I think that I have learnt so much from reading about what is happening with girls my age in 3rd world countries. While I was reading Sold I felt like I was in India with Lakshmi I think that it is horrible what happens in this book. This book was a great book, I felt that this really touched me as I know that this is really going on in the world. I so wish I could find out what happens next as the end just stops and leaves you hanging. There are very many different things that happen in this book that can shake you and make you want to change the things that go on in this world, as after finishing I felt incredibly sad about some things that had happened. I think that if I was any younger that what I am now I wouldn’t want to read the book as in some sections it can get very detailed. I would rate this book about an 8.5 but I still think it is a great book. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys an adventure but also with a sad storyline.

This week was the week where we had to finish the book. I really liked this book, it was very addictive and hard to put down. It has been a very good book, one of the best books I have ever read. I wouldn’t recommend anyone under the age of 13 read it because it is a bit inappropriate for younger people that age. It is a very graphic and detailed book, that gets quite intense at some stages. The only but that I didn’t like was the very end of the book because you dont know what happens to Lakshmi, whether she goes home or to the ‘clean place’. I would rate this book a nine out of ten. 🙂

This book is fantastic! This book really brings your attention to the bad things that actually happen in the world. Its difficult to understand that such terrible things happen, because it seems to cruel and harmful. Lakshmi definitely has a lot of obstacles to face. It is very confronting with the punishments that Mumtaz does to the girls for the smallest of mistakes. Although I really enjoyed it I wanted to know more about what happened in the end. I think that the author should maybe do a second book, because it is fantastic and I just want to know more. I give this book a 9/10 and anyone over the age of 13 should read it!

This book was an incredibly confronting and was a real tear jerker and I would definitely recommend have a box of tissues next to you, while reading this book. Sold is about a young girl called Lakshmi who is sold by her Step Father into child prostitution. They are forced to do horrible things that are beyond imaginal, I can’t even comprehend the things a girl of my age would have to do in these houses and if I was in her situation I wouldn’t know what to do. I recommend this book for girls of the age thirteen plus, as this book has a lot of detail and i believe it would not be appropriate for children any younger. I rate this book a nine out of ten because although it was detailed it really got me thinking and made an impact on me and with so much detail i don’t think it would have made as big an impact.

Never in my life did I think that things like this were going on around the world. I am definitely aware of things like this now and try very hard now not to take things for granted such as my family, my friends, my home and everything in between. Lakshmi is definitely brave having to face all those obstacles that stop her from reaching freedom once again. She really expresses how she feels and tells us all about her surroundings. Sometimes this book is extremely confronting as is too detailed at times and is constantly in your face. If this wasn’t in the book, it would be really be boring and wouldn’t advise you about what is actually happening around the world. Although I really enjoyed this book, I desperately want it to continue in a series and find out what happens next. I rate this book a 8/10 and recommend it to people 13 years old and above because it’s not appropriate for those below this age.

This week we had to finish the book! It was pretty good but I didn’t like the ending because I wanted to know what happened to her after the americans came. I couldn’t stop reading it after I started and I finished the last part of the book on the first night after lit circles. When I was reading the book I felt like I was there, watching Lackshmi and it was horrible. For me it was like watching a movie in my head, as I was reading it I played out the scenes in my head, unfortunetly I couldn’t help it because the book was really graphic and I definetly don’t recomend this book for anyone over the age of 13. Overall the book was amazing and I would rather learn about this by reading a book and getting an insite of what it was actually like then learning about it in class.

This Book was a really great book at the start it was good but i didn’t really understand it and now i get it, it is such a great book i absolutely love it it is amazing.
Some parts a descriptive but it all comes together to make sense, although it is descriptive it is good because it comes to help to understand life in places like Nepal.
We are so clueless about what is going on in countries like this but now that i know i am more aware and i am not going to take things for granted.
This book is great and i hope i get a chance to read it again.

This book, wow, I am lost for words. I have loved reading SOLD so much even though it was a little scary at some points. I tried to put out of mind the hurt I was feeling for Lakshmi and all the other girls that would be put into slavery. It was hard reading through the chapters and reflecting on how this is a world wide issue, not just fiction. I don’t really think that Lakshmi was saved towards the end, I mean, I think it was way too late for anything to be done for her. She already had so much pain in her that she might not be able to get over such a thing, I know I wouldn’t. It must have been really hard for the Author to write this book but she must have had some special connection towards the topic because she seemed to have a really good insight of the life of a child slave. Over all I did end up really enjoying this book even though it was still sad. I have learnt so much about child slavery and Indian life and I’m so glad that I had the chance to learn this way other than just being talked to and it forcing through my brain because now I know how serious it really is. I know her pain, because really I lived the book with her, I was there and it made me feel conscious that I couldn’t do anything. I told my Mum and Dad and they told me that even if I tried there wasn’t much that I could do yet but if I really did believe in ruling out or stopping what was happening then I could. Anyway, I loved this book so I’m sure that you’ll love this book too!

This is an amazing book about a young girl who’s family is very poor, living up in the mountains of Nepal. Lakshmi’s stepfather says she must leave the village and work as a maid to support her family. She arrives at a place called the ‘Happiness House’ but she soon finds out that she has been sold by her stepfather into prostitution. This is a great book and shows you how strong and brave Lakshmi really is. It’s a fantastic read and I recommend it to anyone 12 years old and above. 🙂

Sold is one of the most eye-opening books I have ever read, I couldn’t begin to imagine what it would be like for myself to live in the conditions Lakshmi had to endure!
My favourite character was her mum because even though they had nothing her mum would brighten up the room and made Lakshmi feel loved. She is also my favourite character because she does anything for the family.
My least favourite character is her stepfather because he wastes all the money, made Lakshmi feels worthless and sold her to the lady and not felt anything about it!
This is a book that opens your eyes to what actually happens in India, this book is a one that you will love to read but also makes you very angry to what happens. I recommend this book for anyone 13+ because someone this can be very scary to read.

Saying that Sold is amazing is an under statement, there is not a word to describe how good this book is. Once you start reading you will struggle to stop. Sold is very touching but when reading certain parts of it, you can feel the anger build up inside you towards certain characters.
Sold is about a 13 year old girl, Lakshmi who is treated with little respect. She is sold into prostitution but is then beaten and starved for 5 days when she refuses to sleep with men.
Whilst reading this book I wished that I could just save Lakshmi from this horrible place which she was to stay at until she had paid off her debt and take her far away from it all. I felt so sorry for her because she was so young and had no sense of what she was being sent to do. She thought that she was going to be sent to the city to work so that her family would be able to afford a tin roof, but she was sent to another country and was forced to work as a prostitution, not one cent of the money she made went to her family.
While working as a prostitute, Lakshmi is told by Mumtaz that she will work for her until she has paid off the debt which she owes Mumtaz when she was bought from Uncle Husband.
Patricia Mccormick has written this book beautifully. It shows so much emotion and really engages all readers, I assure everyone will love this book even those who don’t read much. Sold is one of those books which is nearly impossible to put down, new things are always happening and mysteries are always around the corner. I loved it because it was so well written but also because it was so real. So many young children are being sold into prostitution in poor countries all over the world just like Lakshmi, whilst reading this book I found that I was able to relate it to the real world. I recommend this book for all people over 10 because at some points in the book it is quite confronting and is very detailed. This book made me have mixed emotions right throughout it, at some parts I was sad and felt as though I would cry and other times I felt like I wanted to kill Lakshmi’s step father because he just brought so much anger to me. He did absolutely nothing but spent the small amount of money which the family had from selling crops on gambling. He made everyone do the hard work whilst he sat and did nothing but overall Sold was such an amazing book and I loved reading every page of it.

This book was a scaring but real, the problems in this book that Lakshmi faced would of been to much for me to handle she was a strong young girl who was sold into prostitution so that her step father could gamble all the money away once again. This scared, quite little girl fort for what she wanted but didn’t understand what was happening just that man used her for there own problems. There looked like there was no hope for her in this book but she was always positive, the ending ended in a positive point but I wish that she was free and could make her choices but that will never happen for a girl.

Wow! How amazing to read such a deep and meaningful book! After reading it, I feel like I want to be right next to her and she’d share everything that has happened to her and I’d just give her a big hug and take her back to my place and we’d watch movies and have hot chocolate and popcorn and everything would be fine, but i really know that it’s not. And even though her life was put back onto track and she received the freedom she had longed for, it still didn’t take back all the energy she spent fighting mentally and physically with the men and with the situation she was in, all the thoughts and experiences she faced and the heart wrenching inhumanity she had to witness. Her young body, when she was found and taken away, must’ve been an absolute wreck; it had been taken advantage of so many times, her earlobe was torn open from being stepped on and I’m sure she would have suffered malnutrition.
I did love this book, however I don’t like reading as a hobby. This, then again, was a slight exception; it gave me a lot of hope and was really factual on behind the scenes information of Indian/Nepalese culture and law. I only liked 4 books in year 7, the ‘Blue Is For Nightmares’ series and they were amazing books, but this book was fantastic! In saying that, I was vaguely disappointed in the ending, because it didn’t show/tell me what happened after she was found. I wanted to hear all about coming home and seeing Tali’s pink nose, the smell of the hillside, her Ama, her little brother, who now has one notch on the trunk and even her evil step father; someone who would now seem like God to Lakshmi. But none of this was said; it was just ‘I’m found.. The end’ which really upset me! I think it’s an extremely well written book, even though the ’10 words on one page’ annoyed me. If there were anymore books like these, or even biographies similar to these, I’d be interested to read them and hear people’s stories about their experiences, because it’s a real eye opener. Lakshmi had determination like no other and she is an inspirational character to read about.

Sold. wow, where do i begin? Sold is one of the best books i have read ever! It is one of those books that are a real eye opener and really confronting. It is a book that brings me a lot of mixed feelings. Anger, worry, sadness and the rare happiness moment. It is so sad to see how a young girl get treated with such little respect and forced into doing so much that so many girls years older than her have never done. She gets abused in all the wrong ways and it makes me want to cry. The way patricia mccormick has written this is so inspiring and there is so much detail in it that it feels like i was a part of the experience. The book was amazing overall. Its one of those books that you don’t want to put down because you are hoping for a ray of hope in the characters life and you just want to keep reading until that ray of hope appears. I recommend this book for anyone that is interested in this type of stuff. I don’t recommend it for people under the age of 12 though because it is extremely confronting and is put into a lot of detail. I love how much of an eye opener this book is.

After seeing an amazing book trailer by my fellow class mates, I knew I had to read this book. It is a depressing book about daily life for young girl Lakshmi who is forced to become a prostitute at the age of 13 at ‘Happiness House’. She describes her life there and what the older males do to her, which is really eye opening and got me crying (I hardly ever cry in books). The book impressed me with the detail and really got me into it! I found myself not wanting it to end at some points and at others crying and just not wanting to read on. The book was overall amazing, again the detail was amazing, the author is amazing, everything about the book, IS AMAZING.I think this book was written for people over the age of 12 because of the detail that the author goes into in some certain parts. I give this book a 9/10

WOW, best describes this book, it just continues to impress me, I LOVE IT. This book doesn’t go on about nothing, every thing the the book tells you is so interesting and is described in great detail. Every bit of the book make you want to read on and on and on. At the bottom of each page its like another question, not really a question but something that makes you think and want to turn the page. I just don’t want the book to end because I have never found a book that I have enjoyed this much. I find it very difficult to pick up books and read them, but with this book ‘Sold’ I find that I am drawn right into it. Its like I am a character in the book, telling it from the eyes of Lakshmi. I am hoping when I read on it will continue to impress me, “wait” why wouldn’t it impress me, its amazing it never lets me down.

This book was really sad but I enjoyed it so much. It was so detailed and fascinating. It was so sad but it showed me that life is something you can never take for granted and it made me realize how lucky I really am. It was very well written however it pained me to know that that happened to Lakshmi. But over all a good book.

i have just finished “Sold” i think that it was a terrible story in the manner that it was sad it was well-wriiten but the end wasn’t. i feel that the truth in this book was outstanding i hate the fact that this has happened to her.

This book was unbelievable!The Author Patricia Mccormick wrote the book which much detailed and explained everything as thou you were there! I believe sold is very sad but the ending creates you with an overwhelming feeling. This book shows you a different prespective in life and that you shouldn’t take your life for granted. I recommend this for anyone!!

This shocking story is about Lakshmi’s life in the ‘Happiness House’. When she arrives she is full of hope but she learns the unthinkable truth; she has been sold into a prostitution. This astonishing book is a massive punch in the gut and what is worse is that this is the reality for many young girls. This book had me drawn from the very first page and I will keep every page of it with me forever. I strongly recommend this book to anybody that feels strongly about social justice. It is a very easy read, making it possible for almost everybody to read, however it is very upsetting so you must be prepared.

This book is a very touching book and will stay with you for life.It is like a shot in the face to hear that things like this is happening in our life today.
lakshmi is a very brave and strong girl that will shock you how much she is strong inside.
This will be a good book i wont recommend this for the faint hearted.

i have just finished Sold i think it was a excellent book i really liked how Patricia McCormick wrote the story and how it showed you what really happens to people in Nepal i recommend this book to people 13years and up i would recommend this book because it is very informative.

I read Sold by Patricia McCormick after my english teacher recommended it to me. I knew that it would be shocking and a real wake up call but i never expected how angry i would feel.
Lakshmi’s family is very poor and her family have no chioce put to sell her. Lakshmi thought that she was going to work as a maid in the city of Nepal, doing house hold chores. Little does she know that she has just been sold into prostutution.
What got to me more than just what was happening to these girls was that she was so naive. She had no idea what was going on and she was only 13. She was sold for little over $300 and all she wants to do is pay off her interest rising dept to her sneaky owner. Her dept can never be repaid.
What shocked me was that this story is based on what really happens in our world today. I think, what if that was me? How different my life would be.
What would the world be like today if everyone just woke up to these issues? Maybe all it takes is for someone to read Sold.
