this was one of my favourite Roal Dahl books as a kid, I recommend it for younger kids aged 7-10 years. I would rate it a 4/5 because it’s great. a lot of grandmas are lovely ladies, not necessarily old but George’s is, not only old but really really grumpy who doesn’t agree with anything. I feel bag for George in this

I have great, happy memories of me sitting down with my family reading this to me when i was only tiny and I even did a project on this book when i was in grade 2! This book is an amazing book and has been a part of my life since… forever! Definitely one of my favourite books.
Roald dahl is a truely amazing author who paints a picture in your mind and his stories are always to imaginative , creative , adventurous and will hook you in from the start!
It all starts when a young boy called George is left home alone with his wicked grandmother who is mean and nasty to him.
George has had enough of her treating him like this and always being grumpy, so he decides to stir up a grumpy remedy to make her happy for once. He throws all these random, horrible things in a pot and makes his ‘marvellous’ medicine.
What will this mysterious medicine do to his grandmother , will it work , will it not work , will it make her even grouchier ? Who knows…. read to find out!

    I rate this an 8 / 10 .

  3. I think this book is a great read for kids aged around 7-10. Most grandmas are lovely old ladies, but not George’s grandma. She is a grumpy old lady who doesn’t agree with anything. She doesn’t like George either, so he think he should get that grumpy old lady back! What does he make a frothy, bubbling concoction called George’s Marvellous Medicine. This is a great book and i think George is a funny child and I hope that you will see what he puts into this crazy concotion! I give this book a 8.5/10

  4. George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl was one of my favourite books. This book allows you to use your imagination. The book is about a boy named George and one day he has to give his mean grandmother her medicine, but instead of giving his grandmother her medicine, George makes up his own medicine. He uses things that he finds around the house and then he gives his grandmother the medicine which made her grow, he thinks that his parents will be mad at him but his father thinks heaps of people will want to buy his medicine. They try for ages to make the same medicine but they couldn’t, instead George ends up making a medicine that makes things shrink. You will have to read the book if you want to find out what happens. I would recommend this book to children of all ages and I rate this book 9/10.

I read this book a couple of years ago and I love it! I always like reading books that are silly and are a bit of dream and when I read this book it was exactly that. I thought that the Grandma just completed the book. She brought the humour up an extra 10 notches. What I liked about her was properly her grumpiness, it was very entertaining to read and it was never boring. I would recommend this book to 6-13 years. If anyone is ever needing a funny, crazy, interesting book then this is the book to read. This book is just another great book by Roald Dahl! 🙂

This was one of my favourite books, our class teacher read it to us in primary school and i continued re-reading it many times, because I loved it so much! it was a good size, not many pages, so it was easy to read. My favourite character was Grandma, because she always seemed grumpy which was funny. George made the medicine for his grandma, but it didnt exactly help.. you will have to read it to find out. I recommend this book for anyone 6-12 years old.

I personally love Roald Dahl and was a bit obsessed with him when I was in grade 2. The first ever Roald Dahl book I read was George’s Marvellous Medicine and it seriously got me hooked into reading. I love the imagination in this book and reminds me of how I thought when I was younger, I used to make potions and wondered if it could make people grow or shrink or do absolutely anything, but unfortunately this book is fiction. I think Roald Dahl is a unique soul and this book should forever be read.

It’s a family friendly book and I introduced it to my little cousin and she asks me to read it all the time. George is definitely my favourite character, he is cheeky, funny, smart and cute. If I had a grandmother like his, I think I would’ve made my own medicine to give to her, but don’t worry grandma I won’t. 🙂 It’s an awesome book and I encourage you all to read it, some time in your life.

  9. I recommend George’s Marvellous Medicine for everyone. I thought that it was hilarious and light hearted. My favorite character was Grandma, because i thought that she was funny, grumpy and added the humor to the book, and the story line. I liked the end where Grandma shrinks, it made me laugh out loud. To find out what George puts in his medicine to get rid of medicine, you’ll have to read it yourself.

My favourite character was George because he was so smart to have the idea to make his own Medicine and make his Grandma pay for being so mean. Even though it was kind of mean and it would never happen in real life, his Grandma did deserve it.
I would give this book a 10/10 and I think that it’s a book that anyone would enjoy

I would recommend this book for anyone at any age and I think it is a very interesting book and my favourite parts are when he is choosing all his ingredients and he does not care what he puts in. My other favourite part was when the grandmother just kept growing and growing but George and his father were too busy trying to remake the medicine that they didn’t even care!!

I love this book and I’m sure anyone else would to if they gave this book a try.

He goes all around the house finding things that he can put in, when he gives her his medicine, he finds that it is magic and makes her grow. Thinking that his parents will be mad, he finds out that his father thinks that the stuff is great and that heaps of people will buy it. He askes George what he put in it and the order, although they make many creations, they can never find how to make it exactly. One of the potions they make, make things shrink, however, when grandmother drinks it she drinks to much and shinks into nothing. I loved this book, as it was so light-hearted and funny. I would recomend it to anyone.

  25. George’s Marvelous Medicine us a great and funny book. I can’t believe how many great books that Roald Dahl has written.
George’s grandma is not the usual grandma. She is a negative, spiteful and rude person. Because his grandmother is like this, George does not like his Grandmother very much. When George’s grandmother asks him to get her medicine, George does as she is told but instead of giving her, her proper medicine he adds weird and wacky ingredients which will have many strange and funny circumstances. This is a funny and crazy book full of weird and funny events that will have you laughing right throughout the book.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh.

  28. Roald Dahl’s “George’s Marvellous Medicine” is a true classic. Most grandmothers compliment how pretty you are or say how we are beautiful but not George’s. All George ever hears from his grandmother is “you’re growing to fast, boys who grow to fast become stupid and lazy”, and he can do nothing about it at all. So when it comes time for revenge he finds the perfect way. When it comes time for her medicine George decides to give her a dose of his own special brew, but will he get away with it?

  29. This is another one of Roald Dahl’s fabulous collection. It’s about George and his cranky, rotten, old, grandma who does nothing but boss him around all day long. George’s grandma has a horrible personality and plane disgusting eating habits. George is over her rudness and is sick of her bossing him around, so he decieds to invent a new medicine for her, it includes many horrible things including animal pills and more horrible tasting things.

This book is probably suited more for primary school aged kids but if your after a humorous, short read then go for this it’s fantastic.

If you do read this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Georges grandma has a very mean personality along with disgusting eating habits and if you think brussel sprouts are bad, thats nothing compared to what Georges grandma likes to eat, for example her delicassy of a slug on a piece of lettuce. One day when he can’t stand her any longer he decides to cure her nastiness for good with a big serving of his famous homemade medicine. George gathers up a various amout of ingredients from animal pills to brown paint which is a dangerous concoction with dangerous and explosive results!! i would recommend this book to younger readers at the primary school level but if you just want a short humerous book this could be the book for you. I rate this book 8/10.
