Their dream is to play soccer for Australia in the next World Cup. Before they reach Australia though, they must face landmines, pirates, storms and assassins.

I read Boy Overboard The Play by Patricia Cornelius. The book follows Jamal, Bibi, Mohammed and Fatima as they try and travel from Afghanistan to Australia. Along the way they face many challenges. The part of the book I enjoyed the most was when Jamal and Bibi meet Gavin for the first time. Gavin tells them about life in Australia. However, Jamal doesn’t understand that Gavin is exaggerating on many of the things. I thought the ending of the book was quite sad and had you wanting more. Pondering questions like are their parents still alive? What happens more? And so much more.

We read this book for English in year 7 with the class. When we were reading it out loud, someone would always be acting the different part of other people and it would sound like a production. We had a lot of fun reading it. This book tells us about what life as a refugee who comes from Afghanistan would be like. With Jamal his sister Bibi as well as many other awesome characters try to find a way to Australia. At first it starts in Afghanistan and as time passes, many more events occur that result in people reacting to different ways. They end up in a refugee came for a while waiting to come to Australia, facing new problems when they think their at a different place. People get separated from one another and over all it gets pretty hard. But the hope remains throughout the story.
I would love to see the play of this and I think it would be amazing.
Would recommend this to nearly everyone, but maybe older than around 10. Wonderful story I loved it.

I really liked the passion and persistence of the characters that infused me with their great story. Almost every second of the book is a struggle for a living, and my heart was thumping through the whole way. The book also states approximately the life you would have in Afghanistan. I could feel the fear and hope with the Author’s writing. It especially thrilled me when the book told me the story of their great voyage across the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. But there is one thing that shocked me at the end. It just left me hanging and waiting. But the book left it there, and that was the total disappointment of the book for me. I would recommend the book for ages about 9+ for my opinion because the book states the life of the characters in Afghanistan and I think that a few parts are a little frightening with too much immense action. This book would slot perfectly in the adventure genre. I would give this book a 9 out of 10.

Although this was a play, the story was so exciting and emotional at the same time. I love how it gives you an inside of each character so you can see the play in different views. Personally, my favourite character was Bibi because she had a sassy personality and was always determined to get what she wanted. And I loved how I related to them as well because I love soccer too. This is a great story/play.

Boy overboard is a powerful and inspiring story about the struggles refugees face as they flee their country. I have never read a play scrip as a book before but I quite liked it because you got to imagine what the characters are like better and it was all dialog so it was more interesting. one of the main characters, Jamal and his family are fleeing the hardships and strict life of Afghanistan. Jamal loves soccer and has a dream of being a professional soccer player so he is determined to make a better life for himself in Australia. Jamal and his little sister Bibi encounter many friends on their way that would last a lifetime. My favourite character in this book is Bibi because I love her determination and Feisty personality. I did enjoy this book more than I thought however I didn’t love it as much as some of the other books we were meant to read for English. i recommend this book for people aged 10+ and I rate it a 7/10.

Boy over board has definitely got to be one of the most enjoyable plays I’ve read.
This book follows the main characters Jamal and Bibi on a big life adventure. The play is based in Afghanistan under the law of the Taliban, where girls have to fear their lives that they may have broken the laws or done something out of order. This was a big eye opener to me and I realised how grateful I am to live in Australia where everyone is caring and kind. My least enjoyed part of the book was… nothing, the book was engaging the whole way through.
I would 100% recommend this book to anyone at all I never got bored reading it. I give this a 7/10

Boy Overboard: The Play is a great book that gives you an understanding of what others people got through around the world and their struggles. This book focusses on Jamal, Bibi, some of their family and old friends as well as new ones they make along the way. They have to leave Afghanistan because they were involved with a girls school which was not allowed when the taliban were ruling. It is their story coming to Australia and everything that happened along the way.

Boy overboard is an interesting book with an interesting concept. It tells a story about the typical life in Afghanistan and how the Taliban ( a terrorist group) wrecked the lives of many afghani families and how they are corrupt towards women right and anyone that does not believe in their religion they were cruel and reckless and many tried to escape this treachery they tried to be rebellious and ended up dead. This story is about an Afghani family who teaches girls in secret and allows them to have a basic education of course the do this in secret and they get caught causing the family to flee there is no way to leave legally so the family of 4 illegally catch a very small sailboat and travel to a new land but the face a lot of problems getting to this new land of freedom.I like the characters in this book such as Rashidi and Bibi who are both powerful girls that stand up for their rights and what they believe in. This book is a book everyone should read it delivers an inspiring message about how corrupt someplace in the world are and how we need people who have the courage to stand up for whats right I rate this book a 4/5

This is a very good role play book. It demonstrates what it is like living in poverty and all of the challenges they face everyday. When I was reading this and we had to stop I couldn’t and got me really annoyed until I could read it next. My favourite character was Bibbi because she always bought happiness and laughter into serious situations! I loved this book so much and I would rate it a 10/10 considering it is a role play and I don’t normally like those types of books.

I would highly recommend this book/play because it displays an understanding of the hardships experienced while living in poverty. Our story starts with a a small but loveable family who are disrupted by bombs! These kids are trying to make a journey to Australia but all the kids can think of is playing real soccer one day. This book is a fantastic novel and really focuses on the goos simple things in life. By Morris Gleitzman….

Boy Overboard is one of my most favourite books that I have ever read! So I was very excited when I was able to get my hands on to the play version. The main characters of Boy Overboard include Jamal and Bibi, with their parents Mohammed and Fatima. With some of Jamal’s friends including Yusuf, and a girl they meet on their journey named Rashida. Boy
Overboard is about the harrowing journey that Bibi and Jamal have to face on their way to seek asylum in Australia. With their bright ambitions about becoming a soccer star, always in the back of their minds. But they face many setbacks along the way, including landmines and pirates. Overall, this story is an emotional roller coaster, with many happy and funny moments, but with some tear jerking moments in it too. Some parts I especially liked were when the play showcased Yusuf’s amazing sense of humour, which casted light on some of the darker moments in the story. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who is a fan of stories that have a range of emotions throughout it.

SOOO GOOD!!
personally, I don’t really like play writes but this book was amazing, my favourite part was when the ball fell off the boat and it felt so suspenseful as they were looking for the ball and wondering if they would lose their parents.
bibi is my favourite character because she is so strong-willed and happy to help when needed, my least favourite part was when they were at the refugee camp, not it was the storyline it was because it was written with not much detail.
if I could change anything in this book I would probably just change the detail as it is a play/script I would think it would need more detail so the person reading can visualize what’s happening.
I would recommend the book to others as it could be read by all different ages as it could be understood a bit more by older ages, I think once again anybody could read this as it is a great book

I’m going to be honest, I don’t really like reading books in this format. But this script! Wow! It really amazed me. It tells the story of how a family under threat fought their way from Afghanistan to Australia. They have many struggles and dips along the way, with many sad and frustrated emotions. My favourite character is Yusuf; he provides a positive outlook on everything he has gone through and still fights through everyday however hard it might be.
This book was an amazing read, and I definitely recommend it!

Personally, I’m not a big fan on play scripts. But this book shows the incredible story of two children escaping from Afghanistan to Australia. It makes you realise just how much our lucky our country is. This book is like a ‘roller coaster of emotions’ and i’m not kidding! You feel sad, happy, anxious, scared and excited all in one short script. I did love reading about the characters, Bibi was amazing especially in her choice to stand up for herself (perhaps she wasn’t aways smart to do so) when she wanted to play soccer. Because, hey, girls can play, do and wear whatever they want. All throughout this book the relationship has stayed close between Jamal and his sister, and their new friends. They support each other from nearly they moment they meet to the very last page. The sacrifice Jamal made for his sister when she stepped on the land mine was inspiring. So, although this wouldn’t be my first choice of book it was really well written and I wanted to follow Jamal and Bibi further on their journey.

i read this play/book for english last year and i really enjoyed it , it was quite short but there was so much action within the very few pages
bibi is my favourite character, In Boy Overboard Bibi is the youngest child of Mohammed and Fatima. She is a very strong character and is truly very inspiring. Bibi is depicted as a character who, seems to believe in a lot of suspicious things, and has a lot of beliefs in certain things such as when the candle is lit their ancestors are looking after them. For example. she believes in some things that aren’t most likely true. She betrays the rules that girls and women of Afghanistan are told to follow, she tells Jamal, Aziz, Zoltan, Yusuf and Mussa that she wants to play soccer with them. They react in utter disgust and are shocked that she would even think about doing such thing. They tell her to go home, that she can’t play and she needs to cover herself. She constantly breaks rules and says things she shouldn’t like “I hate trucks” “I hate this country” and “I bet Manchester hasn’t got landmines.” She is constantly determined to do things like play soccer. I believe one of the main moments that showed this is at the end when the warship is sitting in the harbor and Bibi tries to get Jamal to come with her, when she believes her parents could be on the boat coming in. Jamal refuses to go with her and sits miserably in the tent by himself. Bibi goes out to try to find them and thankfully they are some of the few to make it to the island, and the family can reunite together again. These are a few examples on why Bibi is by far my favourite character.
i 100% recommend reading this book because it character has such a interest story line. and their is so much sadness and happiness as well in this book.

I didn’t so much enjoy this book. As the book is placed on a play, it’s quite raw and doesn’t truly show the play in all its colours. I feel as if I have just skipped so many pages in the book (Even though I haven’t) as it was so short and had little detail.

Boy Overboard is a great book about a kid called Jamel. Now Jamel has one sister, Bibi and they both love soccer. But there is one problem, They live in Afghanistan and there is so many rules like, Girls aren’t allowed outside without a boy with them and there are no balls game which includes Soccer. This book has a big adventure and there are lots of challenges that they need to work through to live in a better life.

Boy Overboard the play was very similar to the other book however the ending was much sadder. I loved reading it from the characters perspectives as it helped me have a better understanding of what they were going through. Although I hate to say it I loved the other book much better. I rate this book a 8/10 and would recommend it for someone ages 10+

Boy Overboard helps us see that we are shaped and formed by the things that happen to us on our life journey.
Leaving Afghanistan has made Jamal a much stronger person, he is very courageous and cares for everything / everybody around him (especially his sister). He is trustworthy but also cautious when meeting new people. This book is good if you would like a more of a serious read about the Taliban and how life is like for a refugee.

I loved how the author made us know how Jamal and Bibi were feeling while being separated from there parents. I highly enjoyed reading his play and i would recommend this play for everyone to read.

Boy Overboard is play based off the best-selling novel by Morris Gleitzman. The play is about siblings Jamal and Bibi, who must flee Afghanistan due to conflict, and their journey begins. Their dreams are about playing soccer for Australia, but they have to face a long journey, to get to Australia. I really enjoyed reading this because we would read it as a class and each scene, everyone would swap around the characters they were playing. I believe this was a great play to study in Year 7 as it gave me an understanding of some of the major world issues that people face everyday. This play is very inspirational because it’s based off a true story. I would rate this 7.5/10 and recommend it for 12+.

One day Bibi and Jamal’s parents tell them they have to escape to Australia for a better life. This book makes you think about how lucky we are living in a country that has a lot of freedom for all people. I really enjoyed reading this book because I was really interested about how people live in other countries and learning a bit about Afghanistan. I would rate this book a 7/10. I Just finished reading Boy Overboard in English and It is a great book. It really taught me a lot about Refugees journeys and how they went about doing it ! I very much like this book as it really expressers the characters feelings and it brings you in the book and makes you think what your would do at this point in there journey. Boy overboard is a sad but inspiring book. It teaches you to always keep you head held high. Boy overboard is about a brother and a sister on a journey to Australia and all the risks they take to make he journey. They have to leave almost everything behind them and on the way they meet many new people to talk to and are going through the same tough time. They both have a big interest in soccer and dream that they would lead and Australian soccer team one day. I would definitely recommend reading this if you like reading heart warming books that are very heartfelt and sad.

As a year 7, I had to read ‘Boy Overboard’ in english. I absolutely adored all of he characters, they were all so different and yet they were the best people who would ever meet (but of course they hd there moments where I was reading the book and in my heads I was think to myself: NO) this play was so dramatic, and I loved it (although I must admit that there were times where I just wanted and really needed and kleenex by my side) The characters are wonderful, kind, and caring people. I adored the personalities that the characters had, they were all so splendid and different, although I still loved them. Those great characters included Rashida, Driver, Mohammed, Bibi, Fatima, Jamal, Aziz, Gavin, Yusuf, Omar, Zoltan, Andrew and lots more.I truly was in the edge of my seat for the whole time that I was reading this book just hoping that there would be a happy ending, but then…. I was so disappointed with the ending however I was even more upset when i realised that the story line is life for many people and that was what made me become so truly disappointed and it also made me feel very sorry for those people.
Even though this book is not the happiest and most joyful story, it is so interesting and the characters you will dearly love.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a book where you may need a kleenex boy your side, and also learning lessons

As a year 7, I had to read this book during English. This book/play is about a family of 4 (Mum-Fatima, Dad- Mohammed, Brother- Jamal and Sister- Bibi)
In the play, Fatima has a illegal school hiden away in their house, Mohammed is a taxi driver, he sneaks girls from the boot of his car into the house, where they can learn and be educated. Jamal wants to be a soccer player and all through out the play, he talks about being a world famous soccer player for Man United and Bibi is a shy but cheeky little girl, she knows she isn’t aloud to play soccer with her brothers, but she does it anyway.
When you read this book, you are filled with heaps of different emotions like excited when they get off the boat and into Australia, and sad and scared when they are faced with many difficulties on their journey to Australia.
In this book, there is a lot of deep convocations and tasks that they have to face. I would recommend this play for all of the year 7’s next year and everyone should read this to get a better understanding of refugees and their journey and story.

The book takes you on a journey through the up’s and downs of Jamal’s life and the struggles he faces.
It opens your eyes on how he had lived and what life was like where he lived.
Overall this is a fun book because how it is set up and think it is brilliant!!! 7/8 stars!!!

This play is really amazing and i would recommend anyone to read it. i really enjoyed the part when Bibi stands on the landline. i thought that Jamal was a very good brother helping her like that. My favourite character in the play so far is Jamal he is a very heartwarming kid and is very caring to his younger sister. i found this book mixed emotions like sad, happy, exciting and i got a bit confused in some parts. i think that this is a great play for learning but it is also really fun to read. i would rate this play 10/10.

After reading this book I really want to find out if there mum and dad survived the crash it made me cry when they didn’t know and got told the news. I know what happens in the book because my friends told me but I still wanted to see how and if and what would of happened if they on. I always want stories to go on, I never like seeing stories end. I like the play more than the book to read because it seems more real and it is better to get a movie in your head.

I definitely recommend this book for people who enjoy things that say are true but also really like interesting books. This book/play helps you learn more about Afghanistan and how hard life may be when you are a refugee. I thought at the start that this book would have not been for me but when you read more into it and see how Bibi and Jamal do things together and how life can really be, you find it more interesting and learn lots. This is a great educational book i think because throughout the whole book you are just learning lots without realising what information you are actually taking in. I felt really happy for Bibi when she gets to play soccer and do things boys do and girls aren’t allowed to do but at the same time i can’t even image how strict these gender rules would be and would never want to live in a country like that.

I read this play in english class this semester and i really like it, it has been turned from book to play very well and really engages the reader. it informs us on the very real problems that people have to face just to find freedom.
Its all about 2 children who flee their home in afghanastan, once they get to a camp they meet a friend who tells them all about australia and they like the sound of australia so they want to go there…
My favourite character would have to be Jamal because is is very positive and optimistic. He’s been through a lot at such a young age yet he always manages to stay persistent and get through it all.
I had read the actual book before reading the play and the author really portrayed the characters from the book well in the play.
I recommend this play for a good, realistic read!

I kind of enjoyed reading this book in English class because it contained some very real elements of what life is like for people who are forced to migrate. However, the story itself was very sad and slightly distressing, although it was based off of the real emotions and feelings that immigrants go through. Overall, I am scoring the book a 6/10 because it was very engaging, however it was very informative.

Its been so long since I’ve read this! This was my year 7 english essay and it feels like forever ago when I did this but I still remember it so well. Boy Overboard is a great book that shows how the Governments really treats Assylum Seekers and how much they go through just to get to Australia and then get treated so badly. They are put to shame and mistreated just for wanting to start a new life. My favourite part is when they make friends with Omar and Rashida. My least favourite part is when they get put on a separate boat to their parents and then their parents die. My favourite character is Bibi because she doesn’t care about what people think about her. I would defiantly change the ending because it doesn’t really end properly and you don’t know what happens to them next and also its really sad that the parents die and you wonder what the kids are going to do as they are only kids. I recommend this book to year 7 or above because it is a book younger people may not understand.

Boy Overboard is about a boy who is forced to try to migrate to Australia to escape the conditions in Afghanistan. The format that I read it in was in a play, but it still tells the story. It is quite sad in a way, but it is also a real eye-opener to what it is like in Afghanistan with the Taliban ruling the country. I did like the boy/play, it was a great read. The first time that I read the story was with my year 7 class in our english lesson. It was great to do it this way, because we allocated people characters, and we got to read the play out loud. My favourite character is the main character, Jamal. He is in love with soccer, and dreams of playing for Manchester United. Once he finds out that he is going to Australia though, he dreams of leading Australia to victory in the World Cup. My favourite part of the book is when the boys are playing soccer near the start of the book, because it is showing them as normal boys of their age, when really, they are living in completely different conditions to the rest of us. We are so lucky to live where we live. The amount of things that we have access to today, that we take for granted, are things that they can only dream of having.

I thought that it was a really exciting and I looked forward to each lesson were we got to read and find out more about what happens. I think that Boy Over Board is a great play that makes you aware of the situations in warring countries and gives you an insight into what it would be like to be in a situation like that. The beautiful story is about a brother named Jamal and his younger sister Bibi, who both dream to become soccer players for Australia. They face many challenges and I think that Jamal is such a great brother. He has to grow up too early but he is so protective of Bibi because he knows that the rules for girls are a lot harsher in Afghanistan than boys, and he really cares for her. They stumble across the many challenges that come with trying to flee a country where the government is very unstable and rescue boats are scams. It is a wonderful story about bravery, making sacrifices, adventure, loyalty, and trust, and I would recommend this play book to everyone because it is a fantastic read and makes you feel so many emotions.

jamal and Bibi are children living in Afghanistan trying to come to terms with the conditions they live in. at this moment the Taliban are taking over and they know that they have to leave. Jamal Bibi and the rest of the family travel to a refugee camp, then to Indonesia and then finally on a bot that will take them to Australia. when faced with challenges Jamal and Bibi have to learn to survive on their own if they have any hope of getting to Australia.
this book is amazing and really makes you think about all those people in Afghanistan. i would recommend this book to anyone who likes true story and real life situations.

Jamal is a young boy and Bibi is his younger sister. This play is based on refugees and this play only tells you about one refugee story but just goes to show how most refugees live.
This play is based in Afghanistan and Australia.
I would recommend this book †o someone who is just looking for something to read or someone who is wanting to know a refugees trip is to actually get to Australia but still not be safe.
I think the age i would recommend this play to is 9+ because there is a bit of violence and not to give any young people a bad view of the world

Boy Overboard is about a family of 4 trying to make a better life in a new country and they have to sacrifice many symbolic items that men a lot to them. This book/play is an emotional rollercoaster you feel happy, sad, excited, on edge and humorous. I enjoyed this book/play because it made me realise how lucky I am i know that sound cheesy but it is true I don’t need to travel a long, dangerous journey to flee a war torn country because I have a happy safe life in Australia. I hadn’t read this book before I read the play during English classes and writing a detailed essay about this book and some others. I recommend this book because you learn, grow and experience with the characters and you learn about Afghanistan.

In the play by Morris Gliezman there are two main characters Jamal and Bibi they go thought many journeys in the play some big some small. They have gone through the physical and emotional Journey. When they have been separated from there parents, when they try to pass the Afghanistan boarder. This has really changed and shaped Jamal and Bibi to be the people they are today. They know how hard life can get but they never give up that is one of the biggest things that the author is trying to tell us is to never give up. Jamal’s quick thinking and coping with all difficult times well help Jamal to shape into the brave and courageous person he is today. Without everything that has happened through his life he wouldn’t be the person he I today.
This book really shows how brave people can be and always stay strong i love this book because its so interesting and i loved reading it this year in year 7 it was really enjoyable and i really think if u have a chance to read it i would definitely go read it now!!!!!

To be honest I wasn’t really interested in reading this book because I thought it would be all about learning and boring stuff since it was for and English assessment. But after reading this book with my class as the character of Bibi, I really enjoyed it. The harsh laws of Afghanistan force Bibi and her family to flee the country in hope of ending up in Australia. Boy overboard is full of different journeys that each character takes. Bibi wants to explore the world, experience different things and live her life to the fullest, but the strict and unfair laws of Afghanistan restrict her from doing anything out of tradition. Bibi and her family’s journey across the wild seas were never going to be easy and the tough trip soon confronts them with the harsh reality of maybe not making it to Australia. I quite liked this book until we reached the ending, which I really didn’t like!! I talked to some of my friends and they said the same thing and that the ending was lacking a happy resolution. I really would have liked to see the re-connection with Bibi, Jamal and their family also them all reaching Australia. I think that this would have made the book better in a sense of happiness, but then again it is symbolizing a true story as a lot of boats don’t make it to Australia, so I rate this book a 7 out of 10.

i wasn’t really that interested in reading the book but now that i have i enjoyed it but i hated the ending i was hoping that Jamal made it in the big time for soccer and Bibi was aloud to do things and have fun and most of all i was hopping that they would find there parents and at-lest get to Australia and they didn’t even get to do one of those things.so i would rate this book a 4 and a half out of 10.

I have just finished reading Boy Overboard in class and i really enjoyed reading it. It was so different to all the other books i have read and it made me realise how lucky i am to be living in Australia. Bibi was my favuorite character because she was rebellious and very stubborn and always had to be correct
all up i rate this book a 8/10 a great book and play for anyone and any age!

This book was amazing! I read it in class a few weeks a go and it had such a strong story inside it. I think that my favourite character would have to be bibi because she is such a compassionate and strong hearted girl, she isn’t afraid of what others think of her and can go face to face with anyone. I think this book is definitely a book to read and I would recommend it to 11 and up because there is a few thing younger kids wouldn’t understand.

This book is so sad but but yet is total reality, I find it so unfair how refugees are treated even little kids like Jamal, Bibi, Rashida, Omar and Yusuf all of these kids live in a unsafe and a war torn country that they shouldn’t don’t be in they should have the same opportunities that we have, I guess Mohammed and Fatima had the same idea because they started a secret school for girls to give them some kind of education until that was then found out by the Taliban, so they are forced to flee because the consequences are to great because they are in risk of letting there children harmed and themselves. So they soon find themselves on a plane flying to Indonesia where they will then catch a boat to Australia but they sacrifice things that mean the world to them just for there safety they left there house there country, friends and there cherished candlestick.I can’t even picture how much fear they would have been in let alone splitting up with there parents that have bordered another boat, they would have been so worried about them. This book describes the journey and sorrow that one has to go through just to get to where we live then when they get here are sometimes turned back, they would have lost family, friends, money and belongings just to be here and we just toss them back like they aren’t even important.

In English, we just finished reading Boy Overboard the play version and it’s a bit of a cliffhanger. But it’s still great to read the book and also act out some of the characters. Out of all of them, Bibi is probably my favourite because she has a attitude and a bit of a sharp tongue. Jamal is a strong willed character who never gives up, even if everything’s hopeless. (If you’ve read it already, you would’ve known what I did there.) This book makes you go on the edge of your seat. The bell went when we were about to read about the pirates. This is a brilliant book.

We read this book in year 7 for english. I loved it! We got allocated a role in each chapter so someone would read out Jamal’s lines, Bibi’s lines and I would always want to read because it is such as good book. So a bit about the book, there is a family who live in Afghanistan and they are trying to escape without getting caught by the Taliban. Jamal is obsessed with soccer and he takes his soccer ball with him on the trip the whole way. Read the play to find out what happens! I rate this book a 9.5/10! 🙂 🙂 🙂

i loved reading this book in class in year 7. i loved how everyone one got to read it and share the experiences with each other. my favourite character was Bibi because she wasn’t shy about anything and was just and great funny character. this book is set in Afghanistan and is about a family who ttys to escape. this book is great and i would recommend it to everyone

I remember reading this book in year seven and then writing an essay on it. I loved reading this book in class and especially when we read it out loud to each other as a class – the main part of it was so we got the expressions and emotions out. I loved this book mainly to do with the emotions that come out. The book was really interesting because it was set in another country which I don’t know much about. The book gave me a big insight on how life is over there and I can’t believe that girls and women can’t go to school! During the book you go on a long journey from their hometown in Afghanistan to Australia where they are picked up by navy officers from Australia. My favourite character was Bibi because she wasn’t scared to say what she really thought and wasn’t scared of much which i found funny sometimes! Overall I think this book is for people who love adventures and love a good play/short novel. I rate this book a 7/10 because it takes you on a fun and intreating adventure!

I really enjoyed reading boy overboard in english this semester. It gave us lots of insight into how life is over where there are wars. Women had little to no rights and could do basically nothing. No education, no going outside, no playing with friends. So when Jamal and Bibi’s mum decided to start up a school for girls, the tele ban didn’t like it and were after them. From there on the book follows their journey in getting away from the tele ban and to australia. I would rate this book/play an 7/10 and even though you have to read it in year 7, I would reccomend for you to recommend it to your family and friends for a great read.

I really enjoyed reading Boy Overboard together as a class in English. This play/book teaches us a lot about journeys. Journeys being difficult and easy, but in this case the journey being difficult. Jamal and Bibi go through tough times, having had wars and land mines which in Australia we are lucky because we don’t have cruel things like that. As a family, they travel on two small boats to another island but Jamal and Bibi think that it’s Australia at first. They both get separated from their parents and start stressing out because they think that their parents might have drowned or something. I found this play very interesting and I would recommend this play to anyone who likes reading or who wants to start getting into the habit. It was really cool how Morris Gleiztman came up with the storyline, he is very creative and he didn’t just come up with it he heard or saw from other people. I rate this inspiring book/play a 10/10!!

I had to read this book for english and fell in love with it. I think its an amazing book that shares with us the journey people go through and how it can change them for the better and for the worst. I love how at the end it leaves you with a ton of questions to chew over and think about. I love this book that is told in the perspective of a play. The Boy Overboard is a book I read in Yr.7 and it was about a family that really tried to move into a safe world and environment but they had a lot of downs and struggled quiet a lot because they did live in Afghanistan and were trying to travel on a dangerous boat to Australia but ended up stranded on an Island further away from Australia then they had expected. My favourite part of this book is were the young Adults in the book had the passion to never ever give up and that one day they will live the dream that they had always bound to live and everyone will one day love them for who they are! I recommend it to people about over the age 11 or 12 years old and I would definitely rate this book about a 8 out of 10. This book is really great if people are wanting to find out about the different experiences that people are going through.

I really enjoyed Boy Overboard. I liked reading it as a play because it really added to the experience and made me feel more involved with the characters. It taught me about the harsh rules of the Taliban and the mistreatment of women.
My favourite scene was when they where imagining to eat sardines because they where so so hungry. I thought this was really cute and the writer was really smart to add something so simple, yet that gives such a statement into the book.
Sometimes the book upset me; mainly because of the cruel events and rules that the village people have to obey or face the punishment, and how bad some people are treated.
I would recommend this book to 12 to 15 year olds because I think that you have to be able to understand whats going on in real life with the asylum seekers.

Boy Overboard is a great read if you are interested in either history or action types of books. I personally really enjoyed this book because I thought it was very interesting and quite funny at times! The main characters of this book are Jamal and Bibi who are brother and sister with their parents and new friends they make on the way. In this book, there will be laughs, cries and cliffhanging moments. This book is also quite educational because it makes you understand what most refugees truly go through in Afghanistan and other countries in everyday life. I recommend Boy Overboard to readers who are over 10 – 15 years of age and rate it 7/10.

I love this book because it really got me thinking and it is so touching.
I Would recommend this book for everyone, i think it is a great book and it is also quite educational.
I now really feel for the two main characters Jamal and Bibi and any other refugees because I now know how much of a struggle and how sad it must be for them. I know that I would not like to be a refugee because of how bad and distressing it must be.
I would read this book many more times because it is so amazing.

Boy overboard the play is a very interesting play to read. It really made me understand more about refugees and how they live moving around to get out of there country for safety. During the book this is what Bibi and Jamel and there family did moves away for there home country Afghanistan so they could live a much safer life. My favourite character would have to be Bibi. Through our school it was compulsory that we read Boy Overboard the play. It was such an extraordinary book filled with sadness, mystery, stress and drama. They had to build up a lot of courage, strength and bravery to fight through the pain and create a better life and future for themselves. They were thrown obstacles and really tough situations which helped determine and change there life and futures. I loved how Bibi always spoke her mind and never left without a fight. She was determined to create a wonderful future for her and for all the people she loved and cared about. Leaving the country because of disaster, leaving belongings, friends and family behind would always leave a missing part in your heart. This book plays with your heart strings and makes you think twice about how lucky we truly are to have the opportunities and education that they don’t have. We should never take things for granted and this book has shown me and taught me that obstacles and challenges are what create and help us to learn and guide us threw our futures. I would recommended this book to people who want to learn a life lesson and learn about the everyday issues people face all the time. Overall I would rate this book an 8 1/2 out of 10. Starting again is all they ever wanted.

I recomend this book to everyone although it was a play it was really fun reading because you could feel yourself being a character and feeling what they felt. It taught me about the harsh rules of the taliban and the sharia law and the mistreatment of women. I love the characters in this book because they are so funny and unique and i couldn’t wait to read this book in every spare moment that i had. Last Term in English we read Boy Overboard the play and I really enjoyed it. It was really sad and really interesting. My favourite character is Bibi because she is brave and she says what is on her mind. What they went through would be extremely difficult and stressful. I couldn’t imagine how I would feel being in their position. I really love this play and I want to read the book next.

People think they know how refugees feel, but they don’t, not really until now. I have been so inspired and touched that after reading this wonderfully written play, I have bought the actual book and then the second. I loved this book and it’s heroics and sadness and everything about this beautiful book, I have been inspired by Jamal and Bibi’s happiness, sadness, hope, love and torture in Afghanistan, being rejected by the very people thought to bring them safety and rights. The rating I would give this play of Boy Overboard is… 9/10! I recommend people from the age of 10 and up should read this wonderful play and book, but really there should be no age limit to this play because I personally think everyone should be exposed to the heart-tugging truth of asylum seekers.

Boy Overboard is a play that really opened by eyes to learn the truth of asylum seekers’ stories, which the media hides from us. Prior to reading the play, I hardly knew a thing about asylum seekers and the only knowledge I had came from things I had heard on the news. I thought they were people trying to “break into” Australia and “skip the queue.” After reading it, I understood that most asylum seekers need to leave their country in order to be happy and even survive. Jamal is my favourite character because he is very inspiring and a good leader who is committed to get to another country and giving his family a better life.

Boy overboard the play is a great book to read. Once I picked it up I could not stop reading it. The characters in the play all have their own story and all play an important role. Jamal and Bibi live a normal life, well to people in Afghanistan. To us it is quite amazing how they live. They’re life suddenly turns form the day Bibi steps on a landline. The book from then on because very jaw dropping. You will be surprised how the book suddenly changes through all the different seems. Jamal and Bibi along their journey, with or without there parents meet quite interesting people and listen to many different stories about how some have lived before meeting each other. The end will shock you. I give this book a 9/10 🙂

I really enjoyed this book because i got to learn a lot of new things I liked it how it was a play and not just a book, My first time reading this book was in school in English when I read the first chapter I didn’t really like it but then as the book went on I started to really enjoy it and I talled my family all about it but they had already read it. I recommend this book for people who are ver the age of 11, I rate this book an 8/10 because i enjoyed it but it wasn’t really a book for me but other hen that i liked it.

I found this book a sore comparison to the actual book but that is to be expected from a play. Although I normally find plays easy to read this one was set out to be really hard for me to read and comprehend. I found this book to be a great representation of a teacher selected book and I did not enjoy reading this book.

In class we are reading the play we are nilly finished and i wish it had way more to go this play script is very short but tells you so much it shows you how life for people in Afghanistan is so different and there are so many rules girls basically have to be invisible and shows how desperate the people are to leave this country. Jamal in the book and play is in love with soccer all he wants to do is play in the big league and he gets caught up in his imagination he forgets where he is. His sister Bibi is cheeky she does what she wants she is stubborn and a really funny cheeky character. When Jamal Bibi Omar and Rashida get on the boat to Australia the get separated from their parents and are stuck on a run down sinking fishing boat when people come to get them they think they are at Australia but they are actually on christmas island and they don’t relies and this book opens your eye to how different life is for these kids really good book and by a fantastic author

I just finished reading this book for my term 3 reading unit. It is such a heartfelt book and it made me feel really emotional and it felt like I was really in the book, and I was one of the character’s inside the book. This book is a great example of different people around the world and their journeys. The 2 main children in the book, Jamal and Bibi, are determined to change the world and make their home country a safe, better and more welcoming place.

I surprisingly loved this book. As soon as I started reading it I loved it. It wasn’t like most books I read, but it was certainly a good one. The book showed a completely different side of what we se and it gave it from their point of view. My favourite part of the book was when he escaped and got a job. I liked this because it showed that we didn’t want to ruin our country, he didn’t want to hurt us, he just wanted to begin a new fresh life. I don’t have a favourite character I just like all of the characters for different reasons. I can’t relate to any characters in this story because I’m not a refuge, and have never been in a situation like this before. I can’t even begin to imagine how they feel. My least favourite part of the book was when his friend ( forgotten his name) kept talking about his leg being blown off. For some reason every time he mentioned this, it just made me sad. I just couldn’t get my head around they way their lifestyle was so different to ours. If I could change something in this book, I would defiantly change the fact that Jamal’s friend gets his leg blown off, even though it didn’t actually happen i the story it was a previous event. I would recommend this book to others, but not below the year level of 7 because it does have some graphic’s in it.

This book was really good. It makes you think of the things that some people actually go through. If I was put in the position that Bibi and Jamal were in I would not be able to manage it. I really enjoyed the story line, it keeps you wanting more after you put the book down. I rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 and I would recommend it to people aged 12+

After reading this book I really want to find out if there mum and dad survived the crash it made me cry when they didn’t know and got told the news. I know what happens in the book because my friends told me but I still wanted to see how and if and what would of happened if they on. I always want stories to go on, I never like seeing stories end. I like the play more than the book to read because it seems more real and it is better to get a movie in your head.

Boy Overboard serious but humours book.I found it very interesting because it made me think what was going on in other countries.It is about young kids a boy called Jamal and a girl called BiBi dreaming about playing soccer with the greatest teams but the are stuck under the taliban law.Girls living in fear and not braking the rules and boys looking out for their life and not stepping on a landmine.Jamal and Bibi have just found out that their mother and father broke one of the talibans rules and now they need to flee from Afganistan because the Taliban are trying to kill them.When getting on to the boat Jamal and Bibi are separated from their parents and they are stuck on a boat homesick,seasick and missing their parents.This book was very fascinating and I didn’t think that I was going to enjoy it that much but it was fantastic.I would recommend it to 11 and older.I give it a 7/10

In year 7 we read this play and I thought it was alright at first. It gives you a good understanding about refugees and what they do for a living in Afghanistan. You can tell when you read it how all he characters feel about being a refugee and what is going on in their world. My favourite character is Bibi because she puts her self out there and doesn’t mind if she is a girl or not. Some terrible things happen in this play but there is always a good ending. I rate this play a 9/10 and recommend to 13-15. 🙂

I read this book as a class in Term 3 for english and I really enjoyed it. As a class, we were playing a character each which made us really connect to the book. It was very interesting to hear what went in Afghanistan and what the rules were for girls. My favourite part was when Jamal, Bibi, Rashida and Omar travelled to Australia in the boat and the adventures they came across on their travels. I found it quite amazing how Jamal was able to take care of Bibi by himself since they had been separated by their parents. I would definitely recommend this book to people who want to know what goes on in Afghanistan and all of the horrible punishments the citizens have to go through if they break a simple rule. I would think 12 year olds and over would enjoy the book because they would understand how much everything means to them and how grateful you should be. I rate this book a 7/10. 🙂

We read this play in yr 7 and i really enjoyed in the end. At first i was not to sure about this play, but i soon started to like it. I enjoyed reading about how people in afghanistan have to face the hard and tough laws in afghanistan. The play was made me feel quite interested but some parts were quite sad. I liked reading about Jamal, BiBi, Rashida and Omar’s journey to Australia as they also must face horrific laws and rules on the way. This book shows how and what refugees must face to complete their journey to Australia and how emotional and tough it is to survive in afghanistan. I recommend this book to boys and girls 12 yrs old and over. I would rate this book 8/10, it is a great play 🙂

Not many people actually see out of a refugee eyes. Not many people see how hard it really is, they might think “its hard for refugees” but never actually feel how they feel. I have been so inspired and touched that after reading this beautifully written play, I have bought the actual book and then the second. Some books you read, you get sad and emotional, but not actually think to do anything, well I don’t know about others but I sure have been inspired by Bibi and Jamal’s happiness, sadness, love, hope and torture in Afghanistan and also on the tiny little fishing boat on their way to Australia. I would definitely rate this play a 9.5/10!!! I recommend that people from the age of 12 to 16 should read this wonderful play and book!

In English class we read this book in term 3. At the start I was slightly unsure about the book and because of this found it a bit boring. But after we did some research and found out more info of Afghanistan I started to understand better. This book is the play version so you can choose characters and read it aloud with your class or friends. I would recommend this book to boys or girls 12 and up. 7.5/10 (:

I did enjoy this book, but it took me a little while to get into it, when I did i really enjoyed it although it was sad in lots of parts, its amazing that this isn’t just a story it actually happens in real life, I know if i faced that situation I don’t think that I would cope very well and I would be very scared and uncertain.
If I were to rate boy overboard I think I would give it a 7/10!
i think i would recommend this book to aged 12-15 year olds :))

Boy Overboard the play is a really good book. We read it recently in class and it gave the students a good idea of what goes on in the world relating to asylum seekers and refugees. I personally enjoyed this book but I can understand where people are coming from when they say they didn’t enjoy reading it. I would rate it a 9/10 and would strongly recommend it to anyone aged between 12-14.

Boy Overboard the play is almost as good as the book. in the play its really good because you can act it out and really put yourself in the charactors shoes. The play explains the emotion of the characters very well and there pain. It is very clear and i just could not put it down! This adventurous play book explains to you the hard journey from Afghanistan to Australia.i The Play is a really educating book, I learnt a lot about the Afghanistan and all about refugees and there fight to have freedom. I recommend this book to 10+.

Boy Overboard is really educating book that shows the a different side of the story the media has been showing. Before reading this book, I didn’t know much about where asylum seekers came from, I thought they just hopped on a boat from somewhere and just tried to come to Australia for a better life. I didn’t understand how they were living and how they didn’t just want a better life, they needed one because their one was too dangerous. This adventurous play book explains to you the hard journey from Afghanistan to Australia. My favourite character is Jamal because he is the most persistent and determined to make his dreams come true and help his family. I recommend this book for people over 11, it may be confusing, but still wonderful.

BOY OVERBOARD, i read this book for english !! i quite liked it, to be honest i loved it. I thought it had inspired me to look at things different. I think the book has taught me what is to live like as a migrant. You might not know what i am talking about, but you should because i would recommend this book to anyone. I would actually encourage everyone to read this book. This book has inspire me to look at things different and not to take life for granted. In this book there are some really happy moments and there are sad moments so you might need a box of tissues beside you. The two main characters Bibi and Jamal have showed me to see what it is like out in the world. They are both brave and adventurous, and i wish i could have the courage and bravery that they do.

Last term we read this book, and I found that it wasn’t just something we HAD to read, I actually wanted to read it. This book taught me about the life in Afghanastan and on Christmas Island. Bibi, Jamal Mohammad and Fatima decide to travel by refugee boat to Australia but they end up on separate boats. This couragous story is full of difficulties, hope and unjust laws, but also makes you open you eyes to the real world. This was a great Read!!!

This year (yr 7) we had to read this play as a class in English and have to do lots of activities with the story. This story shows all the hard times in life that could happen that we don’t see coming and that hardships that happen along Jamal and Bibi’s journey. They cross the High seas wondering how much longer its gonna take them to finally reach their destination. They end p on an island waiting to be let in Australia that could unfortunately maybe never be able to reach.

Boy Overboard is a great book that shows how the Australian Government really treats Assylum Seekers and how much they go through just to get to Australia and then get treated so badly. My favourite part is when they make friends with Omar and Rashida. My least favourite part is when they get put on a separate boat to their parents and then their parents die. My favourite character is Bibi because she doesn’t care about what people think about her. She wants to play soccer and hates the rules that the Taliban Government has for Women and Girls. I think I would change the ending if I could because I think it is sad that after all that Bibi and Jamal have been through they loose their parents. I recommend this book to ages 12 and above because younger people may not understand it. I think people that like a book that changes their opinions or point of view will like this book.

Last year for year 7 I had to read this book and I wasn’t really overwhelmed by this. But when we started to read I couldn’t put it down and it was so fascinating. I was really impressed by this book. When I read the blurb I was like oh no not a silly soccer book. But it is so much more than that. It teaches you why people come to Australia to seek a better life and what hardships people go through to get a better and happier future. It really touched my heart and I recommend it to anyone over 10.

Even though i had to read this book for a class, I would still read it any day. It was such an inspiring story about Jamal and his family. I love reading books about Afghanistan and the problems facing our society and the country itself. I learnt a lot from this book about the real life situations facing kids the same as Jamal. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 12, that likes reading real life stories 🙂

Boy Overboard was a great book and was especially fun to read as a class. I loved the moral of the story, and how strong the children were after all they’d been through. The strength and love shown in this book, is rare and something you don’t see quite that often. Jamal is so talented and deserves to express that! The characters were also really interesting. I’d recommend this book to all ages, as it’s filled with information, the world should know about refugees.

last year i read this play and thought that it wouldn’t be so interesting, but when we started the book each time we read the book it got more and more and more exciting that it came to the stage where i didn’t want to put the book down. I really enjoyed this book because it is short but it also points out the most imporntant parts of the book. I would recomend this book to anyone of any age because it is very interesting and very exciting…

This year I read a book called Boy overboard: the play, I quite liked this book, in fact I was a bit surprised about how much I actually enjoyed it! I think the reason I loved this book so much was because how much love and care the character’s have for one and other and also this book always keep you on the edge of your chair, the twists and turns were unexpected and surprising, its very hard to put down this book it always leaves you wanting more!
My favourite part of this book would probably have to be when Jamal (the main character) is playing soccer with his friends, I liked reading his thoughts he almost always believes and I find that amazing in the circumstances he was in and the things he and his family are facing.
i think it’s quite hard to relate to the characters, I can not even imagine what pain, problems and hardships they were going through.
My least favourite thing would have to be the ending I wanted to know more, did they make it?
I would recommend this book to people how don’t read much books because I think when they read this they will enjoy it and be wanting more, there is not one bit in this book where i was feeling bored.
i would rate this book a 8/10, enjoy this book!

This term in English we studied the play of the book ‘Boy overboard.’ I enjoyed reading it in class, it was a very good book that had lots of true meaning to it. My favourite character is Bibi, because she has funny reactions when she is angry. I cannot relate to any of the characters because of their hard life in afghanistan. My least favourite part in the book is … nothing, the book is perfect and I couldn’t think to change anything to it. I recommend this book to everybody, and to also to people who enjoy reading plays. I rate it a 8/10, enjooy!!

For english this term we studied the book Boy Overboard. I was suprized I liked it so much, I didn’t even read the blurb and all I thought it was about was soccer! But when I read it I enjoyed it soo much, I couldn’t put it down; Until I actually finished it!!! Though, the only thing I disliked about it was the ending! I am now so eager to find out if they make it! I recommend it to anyone who would like to read a, interesting and a tad funny book! 9/10, enjoy reading. 🙂

BOOK REVEIW BOY OVER BOARD:
I enjoyed the book boy overboard because it was exiting you didn’t know what was going to happen next…
The book is about children who live in Afghanistan and loved playing soccer but had to move away because it was to dangerous living in Afghanistan so they moved away the family left on a boat but the parents went on a different boat to the children the did not see them for at least 12 days they were scared they got sea sick most of the time but they got used to it. They reached an island it was supposed to be Australia but it wasn’t they were sad they boat their parents were on had sunk the children were very upset the survivers had retured their parents were the survivers.
THE FUTURE:
I think the children will make it to Australia and they would be Australian soccer players they will reach their dreams…They will survive.

this book surprised me by how much i enjoyed it. Boy overboard tells the story of a boy named Jamal and his younger sister Bibi. After they are forced to leave afghanistan through all the horrible acts from the taliban , they decide to travel to Australia. Through their journey many obstacles stand in their way and the face the biggest fear ever.
Will Jamal and Bibi make the trip to Australia ?
I really liked this book. I recommend it to people 10 and above.

I have been reading boy Overboard the play in English. I think its a good book and it makes you realise how lucky we are and how bad people especially women get treated. my favourite character is probably jamal because he is always calm and is a good brother to Bibi. I like how Jamal always relates to soccer and how he, bibi and yusuf want to play for afghanistan in soccer.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Afghanistan and there culture and people who like soccer.

I think that this book is quite good.I would recommend it if you like to read about other countries and if you want to learn more about Afghanistan and its culture.This play is about the Taliban rules,Afghanistan and what horrible things the do there.This book has lots of exciting things happen that you just want to keep reading it.It also has about the refugees and how Jamal and Bibi go on a boat to get there and they end up on another island.

liked this book with all its exciting events.But they weren’t always pleasant. It was such a small book but filled with a big story about Jamal and his sister Bibi. Going over to australia. It explains alot about refugees. I don’t really know what part of the book I liked best I enjoyed the whole book. I Haven’t read the actually book but Im defiantly going to read it. I think anyone would like this book I recommend to read it. But I really think it could be a little bit longer. Other than that I think it was wonderful book. 😀 😀

I really like this book, although I must admit it is not one of my favourite. I think at some stages it is sad and touching, but I think I have just read to much of those books about the same thing!! Other than that I would recommend it and I do think It was a very good book!!! I would recommend this book for lots of people because this is a very good book, when you start reading you can not put it down i found myself eager to read it as soon as i got home from school. I think the best thing about a book is understanding what it is saying to you and being able to know what has happened already. I was so happy to find out that in year 7 i got to do a play on it, because i had read the book so many times i knew it well enough and could easily do this task.
This book is about two young children who live in Afghanistan there names are Bibi and Jamal. They want to start a new life is australia but first they have to face many challenges, they have to go to a camp, a ship they meet new people, before they get on the boat they get split up or there parents. Will they all be able to start a new life in Australia or will they face more challenges. After you have read this book i recommend you read ‘girl underground’.

‘Boy over board’ the play is a really good book. i didn’t know about Afghanistan and about Refugee’s until i read the play. i really enjoyed reading it and reading about Jamal and his family and friends trying to get to Australia and make the Australian soccer team. i highly recommend this book.

This is a great read! It is about a little born named Jamal and his younger sister Bibi. All they every wanted was to win a world cup for Afghanistan so that everyone would like Afghanistan and wouldn’t bomb it. But first they have to face bombs, the Taliban, pirates and sinking ships. Will Jamal and Bibi make it to Australia and will their dream come true? Read this book! I love this book it is a great read and an easy one! It has taught me a lot about the Taliban and refugees and it just makes me feel so grateful that my life isn’t like theirs. It is an enjoyable read with some sad moments in it. But it is a definite book that you must borrow now! You will not regret it!

I adored this play, the emotions of the charectors captured mine and the story was so real that it sent me to another world. Reading about Bibi and Jamal was like being someone else, I aslmost felt like I was part of the story. It’s about A boy named Jamal and his sister Bibi. They live in Afganistan but soon have to leave because the taliban have found out about Jamal’s mother’s school for girls. Fleeing to Australia is alot harder than it sounds, they have to sell their beloved candle stick which is a symbol of their mother’s ancestors which were worriors, and soon Jamal and Bibi get seperated accidently from their parents when jumping onto the boats. Together Jamal and Bibi, make new friends, suvive and get themselves to Christmas Island. Although the play says that their mother and father haven’t joined them, you can tell that they haven’t given up hope.

i really enjoyed the play. it is in inspirational story about believing and following your dreams. i would reccomend this book anyone that likes a short story thats interesting and fun. all you need to do is keep reading!!

i had to read this for english. i honestly thought i would love it but i thought it was booring. i thought this because it had no humour. i am not into war books but if you are go ahead and read it. If you wanna do a play hire out the boyoverboard the play but if you just want to read it for enjoyment read boyoverboard the book. i would reacommend this book for all the people that like books set in the old days as well as war. i would rate it a 2 out of 5

boy overboard is a book about to young refugee kids that have been living in Afghanistan under the law of the taliban. Where girls live in fear of breaking the rules and are uneducated, boys still have some pretty sticked rules but they don’t get it quiet as hard as the girls do. jamel and bibi are the main characters who are refugees trying to get to Australia. but on the way they have many road blocks but they also meet great characters such as omar rashida and many other characters. they are either experiencing the same difficulties as bibi and jamel or help them on the way.
this is a very good play and is a very easy read but still very good you feel all of the characters emotions such as sad, scared, excited or happy.
i would recommend this book to anyone because it defiantly isn’t to complicated but younger levels may not under stand what is going on. i would give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 because it was still really good but not the best book i have ever read.

i recomend this book to everyone. It taught me about the harsh rules of the taliban and the sharia law and the mistreatment of women. I love the characters in this book because they are so funny and unique and i couldn’t wait to read this book in every spare moment that i had. It is a very adventurous and interesting to read over and over and over. I love this book and i hope you read it because it will be worth it 🙂 .

Jamal and his friends are playing soccer then suddenly they see bibi standing there without her head wrap. the boys yell out to bibi go back inside your not aloud here but she doesnt listen. All bibi wants is to be able to do what the boys do! This book is fantastc it is so gripping you just can not put it down. this book is for ages 10-adult because it is a great book that most ages would love. i definately recommend to read this book because you will definately learn sokmething about the afghanie culture. 🙂

Boy over board is such an interesting book.
It is about a brother and sister named Jamal and Bibi.
Bibi and Jamal both have a passion soccer. one day they dream of playing for afghanistan and representing their country.
Jamal and Bibis parents have a girls school which is illeagle and is one dicovered.
Their parents decide the safest option is to immigrate to Australia.
This is such a sad book but its great how the kids just stand up for one another and their love for each other is amazing.
i reccomend this to anyone!
i really learnt how lucky we really are to live in Australia.

Lol…Boy Overboard the play is almost as good as the book. in the play its realy good because you can act it out and really put yourself in the charactors shoes. its really funny when as a class we acted each charactor out. we had a laugh and alot of fun. also, it was a fun oportunity being able to read a book with your class. it was a great book and i reccomend it to anyone who would like to read it!

I really liked this book because it explains what its about in more depth and sets a scene in more detail.

Boy Overboard, the play, was such a fantastic and incredibly exciting book to read! I loved all the characters especially Bibi. The adventures that they had and the challengers that they faced where incredible.
My favorite scene was when they where imagining to eat sardines because they where so so hungry.
During the book I felt so lucky that I wasn’t in Afghanistan during the wars that are still ongoing.
I love this book and recommend it to anyone who loves adventure!

I really enjoyed this book. Having already read the original book, I was happy they included the same, including my favourite, character(s)
Often the book upset me; mainly because of the cruel events and rules that the village people have to obey or face the punishment.
The book, however, has lighter and more emotional scenes, mainly focusing on the relationship of Jamal and his little sister, Bibi.
This book made me feel mostly upset, but sometimes made me chuckle or get excited.
Although this book is great, I prefer the original book.
I recommend that readers read the original novel if looking for more details and overall plot. Even comparing the books is a recommended idea.
I still enjoyed this book, however, and recommend it to people interested in the arts and acting.

I would recommend the book boy overboard the play to every one.Its a great book about these characters such as: Rashida, Driver, Mohammed, Bibi, Fatima, Jamal, Aziz, Gavin, Yusuf, Omar, Zoltan, Andrew and lots more.
This book/play is about Jamal and Bibi have a dream to lead Australia to soccer in the next world cup but first they must face landmines pirates storms and a sinking ship. Can Jamal and his family survive their incredible journey and get to Australia.
In this i thought the characters were GREAT!!. The lines that they spoke were really good and interesting to read about.
This play has got 64 pages but worth reading. Some parts were funny,sad.exciting and happy.
I recon the best part about it was all the funny bits that some of the people and i would say many more but i will only say one. I thought the sad bits were The harsh rules that they have like girls are not aloud to play soccer in Afghanistan and lots more rules.
During this book i felt every thing like happy, sad and excited.
I would recommend this because it is such a good play to read and about the rules that they have!!!.
