The casting of A Knight’s Tale was brilliantly done. Heath Ledger played the role of knight’s humble assistant who turns nobleman perfectly. As expected, he finds his princess and there is a ‘Happy Ever After’ ending. It was a non-gruesome film that gave me an idea what the era of knights and kings was like, with an insight into the history of medieval times. At first I was unsure of the use of current songs, however it actually works well because they have used ‘classics’. The movie has a lovely message about reaching for the stars and achieving your dreams. I enjoyed this film study a lot and can recommend it to anyone 12+. I rate it 8/10

The movie was brilliant, it definitely something to watch if you’re a fan of love, hope and comedy. my favourite scene is the final joust there is a lot of suspense in the crowd. it is a great way to learn about history and the medieval time period while still being able to enjoy the movie and have a good time. you will definite have a laugh along the journey to victory, my favourite character is definitely what he brings his own twist to the movie and is so funny, he helps the characters all come together … it is a MUST WATCH BOOK and you will become part of their lives as soon as you start watching. I recommend this movie to 10+ it is even great for adults!!!! I would give this movie a definite 10 out of 10 because I had an amazing time watching it.

I definitely recommend the movie a Knight’s Tale. This movie can be enjoyed by the whole family. This movie is quite humorous and is very romantic. Heath Ledger plays the very handsome and courageous main character William. William is what people in that time period classify as a ‘peasant’ but one day he finally gets a shot at fame and possibly love. You can fall in love with all the characters and their personalities are truly unique. My character by far is the female blacksmith, I think her name is Kate. She is such a strong and independent character. Although this movie is set in the medieval times it has many modern aspects to it. My favourite scene is the ballroom dance. Totally recommend this movie! 10/10

A Knight’s Tale’, follows the journey of an inspirational peasant, named William Thatcher who has a strong passion to joust. The film is set in the 14th century, thus, proving a challenging time especially for many citizens due to the highly structured and unjust hierarchy. Many wished to ‘change their stars’ in order to pursue passions that were unavailable due to their status on the hierarchy. ‘A Knight’s tale’ shows how the support of others and the long to achieve, enables you to ‘change your stars’ regardless of one’s circumstances. I enjoyed watching this movie and liked how although, it is set during the 14th century, it consists of modern concepts and ideas. I would rate this movie a 7/10.

I liked the movie ‘A Knights Tale’! I liked it because it had a good message behind it and it was set in the medieval times which I quite enjoyed as it was something new for me.
‘A Knights Tale’ is a movie about a young man named William Thatcher (actor Heath Ledger) who is a peasant but wishes to ‘change his stars’ and become a jouster, which is a sport that only higher class people are allowed to participate in. Will worked for a higher classed man who was a jouster but when he suddenly dies after a serious hit in a match so he takes his place in the next round of matches, pretending to be this higher classed man. He participates in all of these matches of jousting and becomes really, really good (after lots of practice)! He is living under a man who is now dead. But, when Count Adhemar discovers that he is actually a peasant, William is under fire. But, in the end, he becomes a jouster under his own name William Thatcher, proving that anyone can ‘change their stars’.
This movie is really good and I definitely recommend it! I recommend it to anyone who is a lover of medieval history or anyone who wants a new, interesting movie to watch. I rate this movie a 7/10!

  7. ‘A Knight’s Tale’, directed by Brian Helgeland, depicts and demonstrated how with determination and pride, support and help of others, anyone can change their destiny. The movie is set in Medieval England where wealthy lived in comfort, luxuriousness, and security while the poor lived in neglect and foulness. You truly had to be unique, driven, and reliant to change the direction in which you were planned to head in. Although William was apart of the lower class, he had the aspiration to become a knight. Throughout the movie he shows how encouragement and reinforcement when times were rough was needed. This is a hopeful, persuasive, and compassionate character shows that a person can change their stars.

This was the best movie ever and I’m really glad this was compulsory. I loved it because of the education aspect of it, the humour and of course, Heath Ledger. I would rate this movie 5/5 stars. I recommend this movie for anyone age 10+, but everyone should watch it because it really is a great movie.

  9. I think A Knights tale is really good! I like it because William is a really lovable character and he is so determined and fearless, and he kept going after his dream although his setbacks and limitations. My favourite part of the movie was when William achieves his goal and his father is there to watch. My favourite character in the movie was William because he followed his dream and was knightly on his journey. My least favourite part of the movie was when William got thrown in jail because he was not a knight and Adhemar was William but because William is knightly he didn’t fight back. If I could change the movie I would make it that more people changed their stars not just William. I would recommend watching this film it is really good and uplifting seeing Williams dream come true and seeing everyone happy.

  10. I absolutely love this book. We are currently studying it in English and I am enjoying every moment of it! I love Heath Ledger as William and I think he is so brave, confident and daring, but also sweet and kind at the same time. This moving is amazing because it clashes modern-style film techniques with an old theme. I think that the plot is very interesting and has many twists and turns that you will not see coming. I would rate this movie 9/10 because it incorporated so many different themes such as romance, action, thriller, and comedy. I think that it is suitable for anyone and probably should be watched from ages 10+

I love this movie because it’s absolutely hilarious. Heath Ledger was the perfect casting for William. The movie is set in medieval England so it was quite educational but still very enjoyable. My favorite scene is when all the knights go to the dinner and they dance and it’s really entertaining. I love that this movie has a great message, it teaches you that you can be who ever you want to. “Anyone can change their stars”.
I would highly recommend this movie to everyone!

This movie was okay for me. Not a favourite but it was okay. It follows a peasant that wants to be a knight, and when his master dies right before the final match he steps in and decides to pretend to be a knight. This is an okay movie but I would not watch it again. I would rate it a 5/10 simply because it become boring after an hour or so.

  14. I love this movie! It’s about a peasant, called William Thatcher, who pretends to be a knight so that he can make some money to eat and return to England. But he becomes really good, and they go all the way to the world championships. He meets a girl, called Jocelyn, but Count Adamar, who is William’s enemy, also wants her as his wife. One of my favourite character in the book is Jocelyn, because she knows what he wants, and she won’t take anything less. She loves William, but she wants to be sure that he doesn’t just like her for her looks. She is willing to run away with William when his true identity is revealed, but he refuses. My other favourite character is William, because he will doing anything for Jocelyn, as we see in the movie. He has so much pride, he would rather be lead off to the stocks and go to prison rather than run away with Jocelyn. My favourite scene is the last battle between William and Adhemar. There is so much that the director is showing us in this clip, and you can really see that difference between the two. Overall, I would give it a 9 out of 10, because it was such an amazing movie. I would definitely recommend this book to kids 10 or older. It was so much fun to watch!

I love William because he plays his part really well and I love his personality and determination. It is about a boy called William and he becomes a really good jouster. Although he is not of noble birth, he lies and pretends he is which makes the whole story of the move so interesting. I began to watch a Knight’s tale in English and I actually really enjoyed it. A medieval joust and scenery was blended into a movie with modern day twists. My favourite character was William. He is brave, courageous and determined to pursue his life long dream of making it as a knight. I love how is so passionate and fights so hard. He fought to “Change his stars” and tried his very best. He was not born into a noble family in fact he was a son of a Thatcher. He wanted to prove to other knights, nobles, the lower class but most importantly to himself that he was worthy. He wanted to show others what he could achieve and what you could accomplish when you believe hard enough. I would rate this movie an 8 and a 1/2 out of 10.

  20. We watched A Knight’s Tale in English. It turned out to be a really good movie! Everyone in the class loved it, and didn’t want to stop watching it when the bell went at the end of the period. It’s about a peasant called William Thatcher who pretends to be a noble so that he could joust against other knights. William is played by Heath Ledger which is half the reason most girls love this movie. Along with his friends Wat and Roland, they set off to compete in jousting tournaments. Along the way they meet Geoffrey Chaucer, who helps them get into the tournament and becomes their friend. Will is my favourite character because he’s so kind and selfless and brave, and I also like Wat because he’s really funny. The movie has a lot of humour. Will falls in love with the beautiful Lady Jocelyn, and when he first sees her it’s funny because he’s trying to get her to tell him her name but she won’t. He even rides his horse into the church to follow her.

My favourite part is when Will finds his father, who he hasn’t seen since he was a child. His father was now blind but it was great because it was really emotional and his father was so so happy to see him. He was also very proud. The message of the film was that ‘a man can change his stars’. This is what Will did, because at the end he ends up getting knighted by the prince.

I recommend this movie for boys or girls aged 11 or 12+ because some parts could be hard to understand. I rate it 8/10.

I loved watching A Knight’s Tale, I watched it in English for school and I fell in love with it. The movie is about medieval times but set in sort of a modern way. This story is about a lowly squire named William (Heath Ledger) who believes that persistence and determination help him change his stars. This movie is so funny, I love the way they incorporate modern things like the nike symbol on his armour and them clapping at the start to the beat of “We will Rock You.” I would rate this an 8.5 out of 10 because I loved it. I would recommend this to anyone 12 and up because otherwise it would be a bit tricky to understand.

I love this movie! It’s really fun and interesting to learn about that era, I also like how they incorporate modern things into it. For example, the crowd clapping to we will rock you, and the blacksmith’s trade mark being very similar to the nike symbol. My favourite character is definatly William Thatcher, because for one he is Heath Ledger, and he is also brave, slightly insecure, loyal, smart and very talented. My favourite scene is when they are writeing the letter to Joselyn, because it’s really sweet how they all pull together, and share their own stories and they are all very good at saying romantic things. I would recommend this for boys and girls ages eleven and up because it’s a little too complex for anyone younger to fully understand. I rate it an 8/10 because it full of passion, and bravery.

I loved this movie, it was great their were so many sub plots but it still stayed focused on the main part. My favourite part was when William fought, the noble when you shouldn’t.
My favourite character was William because he was good looking 😉 but brave, courageous and strong. I can’t really relate to anyone in this movie because it was back in the Medieval times. I would not change one thing in this book it is great, exciting and nerve racking. My least favourite part was when we found out that Williams father is blind it was so sad.
I would totally recommend this to everyone because it is so exciting and thrilling and leaves you on the edge of your seat with a tissue in your hand.

I think that this is one of the best movies I have ever had to watch in class. Lots of girls out there watch it mainly for Heath Ledger but I think it is so much more than that. My favourite part is when William (Heath Ledger) is training to become a knight and he falls into the river, and for all the fanatics of medieval romance there was a bit of that in the movie. Oddly enough I thought the bad guy was the best part of the film and I loved how he put such a major twist on everything. Over all it’s a really good movie and although the end in a little Hollywood I would still give this movie at least a 7 out of ten.

  27. I recommend the movie ‘A knight’s Tale’. It is the best movie I’ve watched for school. I liked this movie because it was funny. Heath Ledger is great at his role of William. The movie was set in medieval England so I learnt a fair bit historically about it and it was still very enjoyable. When my class watched it we loved it. It was annoying to have to stop it at the end of the lesson, not knowing what was going to happen next. The movie gets you rapt up and it is definitely not boring. It teaches you that no matter who you are, you can be anyone you want to be. Anyone can change their stars if they really want to. My favourite parts are when the knights are jousting on horseback because there’s a lot of tension and you want to know who’s going to win the fight. My least favourite part was when William had fruit/ tomatoes/bananas thrown at him but then again, that was still pretty funny. That could even then go to my favourite part because I found the whole movie enjoyable.
I’d recommend this movie for everyone. It’d be a great family movie.

My favourite part of the movie was when William found his father, John Thatcher because it is a really emotional scene and the directors were very clever on how the portrayed the section of the film. I absolutely hate Count Adhemar because he comes off as arrogant and only wants Jocelyn because she is beautiful and not for her qualities. In A Knight’s Tale, written by Brian Helgeland shows how much the your class meant back in the 14th century. The poor treated with no rights, Most people had to work day and night food on the table. While the nobles had servants and lived in luxury. Most people accepted the class that they were born into. William stood out in this society. He questioned the order. He believed a man could changes his stars. He took any opportunity to become the person inside him, with the support of his friends. He dreamed of one day becoming a knight. He achieves his dream when Sir Ector dies during a jousting tournament and he replaced him and then decided to have a fake identity and to continue his dream. He needs to over come his birth place in society. With persistence and courage William and friends shows he can achieve anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Through out all the challenges William’s positive attitude towards his goal, encourage his friends to go beyond the boundaries of society. William finally wins the heart of Lady Jocelyn and was knighted by Prince Edward who respected him. This movie was amazing I loved watching every second. I would rate this movie 10 out of 10!!!! 🙂

My favourite character would have to be Chaucer as about near the quarter of the way through, William and his gang confronts him naked as he was gambling and lost everything. i also liked how the way he talks, but none of the audience can understand him. i really thought that this movie was going to be like a documentary, but instead it was a comedy with romance, family and friends. it also shows that it doesn’t matter what class you are, its how you treat others that counts. i recommend this movie to people 11 and above. Great comedy movie to watch 🙂

I love this movie, there is some strange parts in it but otherwise really good! At the start I thought it looked really good, and I wasn’t disappointed at all! I really enjoyed watching this movie, it was for sure one of the best ways to spend your English lesson! It helped me understand a bit more about the people we have been learning about in English like Geoffrey Chaucer, and the different professions back then! I really enjoyed it but like I said some parts were a bit strange so 9/10 for me:D

I reccomend the movie ‘A Knights Tale’, it is a very interesting movie, which teaches you a lot about the 14th century, while also being a comedy film! It is about a young poor squire William Thatcher, played by Heath Ledger. He coincidentally ends up in jousting competitions when his employer dies. William and his friends go on an humerous journey trying to get money to live, it is a very interesting film, which incorporates love, friendship, family and shows different classes of people coming together. I really enjoy this movie, and always have, I give it a 10 and reccomend it for everyone over age 8 🙂

I really enjoyed this movie!!!It was based in the medieval times and were jousting. I really loved the story line as it wasn’t just a boring old documentary type but instead had a bit of adventure which spiced it up a bit. As Heath Ledger played a great main part as william who has to joust so that him and his mates can basically survive as they have no money. William gets a bit side tracked as he falls in love with Jocelyn played by Shannyn Sossamon
who in the movie is a rich person. My favourite part is when they test if kate” armor is ok to were when he joust as they ram a giant piece of wood at william it’s so funny. I would rate it a 10/10 and recommend it for 11+

I have just watched A Knights Tale and think it is a fantastic movie.
This movie is cross between a modern and medieval theme and had a very specific storyline about a lower class man called William who pretends to be a knight and wins a series of jousting tournaments in order to change his stars and create a better life for himself.
My favourite part in the movie is at the start when William (main character) decides that he will take over for the knight he was working for, as his boss/master has died and also the part where Will is at the cross roads with Roland and Wat (other characters in the film) and decides to use all their winnings on entering the next jousting competition. These is probably my favourite parts because Will shows that he is willing to change his stars, start again and create a better life for himself as a different person.
I would recommend this movie to people around the ages 12+ because it is a great watch and there are many different scenarios that are included into the story line such as romance, rivalry and changing ones stars and could become a little confusing in some parts if you are not really paying attention.

I think that my favorite part in the whole movie would have been the last 15 minutes. I think that the parts that make it so good is the romance the intense bits and the funny bits. I loved this movie! I have just recently watched it in english and loved it. The storyline has a real catch to it and is so special and unique. I love it how at the start it has modern rock music which sucks you more into the movie. I think that this movie was funny, sad, dreamy, brave and includes heaps of adventure. Also, I think that it was very smart of them to put the author of the book The Canterbury Tales,( The book in which this movie was based on) the author Geoffrey Chaucer into the movie it was very creative. I really enjoyed watching this movie and would love to see it again! I recommend this movie to anyone looking for some adventure in medieval times.

  57. I recommend the movie A knights tale. I really enjoyed this movie. At start didn’t think I would like it that much but as i payed more attention I started to like it more and more. Although i found this movie quite interesting It is also very confusing, if you weren’t paying very much attention you wouldn’t get all of the story. This movie is a medieval type movie but it was set in the modern times. It is very good how they made the costumes modern but also medieval. The incorporated both times and made it medieval but still fun to watch. This is a really good movie and I enjoyed it. I rate is 9/10.
