The blog for books and movies

Pay close attention and you might solve this.

On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

  1. One of us is lying was probably the best murder mystery i’ve ever read. The book is about 4 students who are all suspects for the murder of Simon,. Addy the princess, Bronwyn the brainiac, Cooper the Jock and Nate the criminal are all totally different but one of them is lying. Simon was the gossip guru at the school who was about to release all of their biggest secrets to the school. So who killed him??? I think i like this book so much because it keeps me guessing the whole way through . I also like how its a book written for teenagers and it’s not too babyish but it’s also not too grown up and boring. I really like how it goes through all the different perspectives of the suspects throughout the book. I also liked how the murder part isn’t very gruesome and gross , instead it’s very clean and quick which even makes the book more mysterious. My favourite character is the book is Addy because she was not afraid to be herself and she was verrry sassy!!!! My favourite part is at the end when everything comes together and you get the surprise of your life!! I would recommend this book to 12+ and rate it a 8/10.

‘One Of Us Is Lying’ is one of the best murder mystery books I have ever read. I loved this book so much because I just didn’t want to put the book down. It was so thrilling and exciting. You would think of who killed him and when you just find out who it was and how it happened, you are just amazed. My favourite part of this book was when we saw all four of the characters getting close and working together or when they had finally solved the mystery. When they had solved the mystery, it was one of my favourite parts to read because they had gone through so much and finally they know what happened and so does the reader which makes you feel like you were in the story with characters too.
I would recommend this book to others 100%. I think people who love solving crimes or loves mysteries would love this book too. The age group I would recommend this book too is maybe (well I was 10 when I read this book) a mature 10-11-year-old or 12+. I rate this book 4.5/5 stars! This is a great book to read!

One of us is lying, is one of my favourite mystery books and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. 5 students walk into detention together, only 4 come out alive. Bronwyn, Addy, Nate and Cooper get thrown into detention together, and they think, might have been for a reason. All four of them have been suspected for the murder of Simon, and the readers change their opinion on who they would believe from start to end. Slowly, the secrets spread and the truth is told. But how far will they go to protect it? I think that the way it has been written make you feel like you are in the book, solving the mystery along with the other characters, and I always love books like this. It is definitely a page-turner and I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel. 100% recommend this book to teens 13+ and I give it a full 10 out of 10!

I have recently finished ‘One of Us is Lying’ and I wanted to read it again! It was intriguing because of the four polar- opposite personalities that are portrayed and framed for the murder of Simon. My favourite part of the book was when Nate is released from jail when Addie and Bronwyn find out some clues that led the police to let him go. My favourite character was Addie because of how difficult her life is, with her mother not really caring about her and her boyfriend, Jake, who is controlling and ends up becoming aggressive towards her. She is known to be clueless and ‘dumb’, without a mind of her own. Towards the end of the book, Addie discovers herself and finds her strengths through helping her new-found friends and stands up to her problems, making a difference in her life. I can relate to all of the characters in this book because I know how it feels to be blamed for something you didn’t do but can’t stand up for yourself because it might cause more issues. I would recommend this book for anyone who has a mind for mysteries and drama. This is an excellent book and is very entertaining.

‘Is everyone in it together, or is someone pulling strings? Who’s the puppet? And who’s the puppet master?’

The book ‘One Of Us Is Lying’ takes you to the mystery involving 5 contradictory teenager school characters. 5 of them of into detention but, only 4 leave alive. As they were all at the crime scene they are all suspects. they all have their secrets but, how far are they willing to go to protect them? A suspicious death of a fellow student leaves you in a web of lies, as you try to untangle them you get stuck like a fly in a spiders web, and the only way to get out is to turn page after page. This captivating book will leave you speechless, with a mix of emotions and an obvious but, inconspicuous ending.

This book I would recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery or are in a bored mood.
    A geek, A jock, A criminal, A princess, A MURDER
    Who would you believe?

  7. I recommend the book One Of Us Is Lying. It is about four students at the same school who are completely different but are thrust together when they witness, and are consequently accused of being responsible for, the suspicious death of another student. I found it really entertaining and engrossing and could not put it down. It is perfect for people who enjoy a good mystery. I rate it 9/10.
