Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen

has survived the Hunger Games twice.

But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive,

she’s still not safe.

The Capitol is angry.

The Capitol wants revenge.

Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss.

And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either.

Not Katniss’ family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.

  1. Wow. This book truly was a rollercoaster of emotions. There was one thing I felt for nearly the entire book. That was shock. So many plot twists or just awful things that happen to characters. Let me just give some examples. Finnick, Prim, Peeta, Coin. Expanding on Finnick for a moment… I really love his dynamic with both Katniss and Peeta. He was, for a lot of the book, helping Peeta get over the implanted memories and trying to make Katniss have patience when it came to Peeta’s recovery. I found it very, very wonderful when Peeta remembered Katniss’ favourite colour. It felt like a breath of fresh air. I found it quite amusing when he almost didn’t believe Katniss when she said that his favourite colour is orange. Very sweet. Something that really made me think was that district thirteen gave their soldiers Nightlock pills. Essentially implying they would rather their soldiers die then information be tortured out of them about thirteen. In some ways I understand that, in other ways its all very dark. Branching off of those pills for a moment, when Katniss reached for hers after she killed Coin my sympathy for her grew. She figured she’d done her role, and now she had killed someone who was ready to step up and ‘fix’ Panem. (Though I sincerely doubt anything but chaos and destruction would’ve followed if Coin truly had become president.) When Peeta stopped her I could not stop thinking about what would’ve been running through his head at that moment. It also kills me to say that Peeta will never get his full and pure emotions back for anything/anyone after the highjacking. It’s awful.

In conclusion, a solid 5 star read. An amazing, haunting book that makes you think. (Age Range 12/13+)

  2. its so sad the hunger games has come to an end. i loved reading the hungers and this was a satifing end. the captiol goon. once agian ti was great to see katniss thought and emotion. it was cool to find out that district 13 was still around. this book was alot more serios i find. there was not as many funny bit which was a bit upsetting. it was very sad to see some of my favourite charters die and go though tthof times. it was also really intresting to see katniss try and make up her mind on gale or peeta. i feel that katniss always saw gale as a brother more then anything but peeta was kind of diffrent. if you love a heart breaker and some action this is a trillagoy for you

  3. I liked this book because of how interesting and elaborate storyline. My Favourite part of the book is when Katniss and Peeta get their happily ever after. My favourite character is Katniss because of how strong she and how mentally strong she is. I can relate to Katniss because when she lost her sister, she broke down in tears was so sad and when I found out that my Pa had died, I could not stop crying. My least Favourite part of the book was when Prim died but if given the choice I wouldn’t change anything because when Prim dies that gives Katniss the reason to choose Peeta over Gale so while I love Prim I am glad that this chain of events leads Katniss to choose Peeta. I would recommend this book to people who love complicated, crazy love triangles, complicated by war, brain-washing and death.
    Happy Reading!!!

Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games Vol 3)
Mockingjay is the conclusion to Suzanne Collins’s Hunger Games trilogy. It is an emotionally heavy book filled with rebellion. Collins gives the reader an opportunity to consider what Katniss’s true motivations are, and leaves you with a sense of not knowing who to trust. I was captured in every page and was sad when it ended.

I loved the Mockingjay, the third book in the Adventure series the Hunger Games by Susan Collins. I really really loved the ending to this book, 1. I loved how Peeta used his real or not real thing to ask Katniss if she loved him, and 2. I loved how she added in the epilogue, and I was so glad that Peeta and Katniss ended up together. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure and plot twists.

Out of all of the three Hunger Games books this one is my least favourite. I loved the first book but I felt like the series could have just ended there instead of with the Mockingjay. I thought it was unnecessarily drawn out and after a while became rather hard to follow because so many things were happening at once and it was hard to understand why half the characters did the things they did. I also felt that the trauma Katniss must have been feeling at this point was poorly executed and her character was slightly annoying. All of that aside Suzanne Collins is a brilliant author who continues to produce great works.

  7. Out of all the Hunger Games books in the trilogy, this is my least favourite. It felt unnecessary and drawn out. Katniss and her family, along with her two very different love interest Peeta and Gale hide from the government as they plot against them. Even though I loved the first book, I felt as though the sequels were very unneeded, which upset me. However when you finish the other too, you just need to know what happens. Despite some of my disagreements on some parts of the book, Suzanne Collins continues to be a great author delivering good books.

Hunger Games; Mockingjay is very different from the rest of the series. The rest of the books focus a lot on Katniss and her journey, but in this book we get to discover a lot more characters thoughts and emotions about the whole story. This book is very adventure- themed, and it takes a turn and becomes a war-movie in a way. However, this is very well executed by suzzanne collins due to her undeniably talent-filled method/style of writing, so the book was still an outstandingly good story. I thought this story had a perfect ending to a story that made us all hold our breath with fear, excitement and thrill.

The final book in the ‘Hunger Games’ series, ‘Mockingjay’, is absolutely incredible! I loved this marvellous book as it is very, very captivating and thrilling. I was, and you will be, always in suspense and filled with adrenaline.
There is constant action and adventure, endless challenges and triumphs but Katniss Everdeen, continues to persevere through them all with her never giving up attitude.
This book focuses on Katniss’ vengeance and how she fights back against the Capital after the awful doings they have done to her in the previous two books.
My favourite part in the book is at the very end in the epilogue. It ties up the series wonderfully and it makes you smile, especially after all that Katniss and Peeta have been through.
I would definitely recommend this book to people who love action, adventure and a determined main character who are 11+. I rate this book a 10/10!
This book is easily one of my favourites!

The Hunger Games was one of the first book series I got into.It is honestly amazing and I would read it over and over again. Suzanne Collins has written this story brilliantly with major twists that you didn’t see coming. This series is truly heartbreaking and thrilling but has a great sense of humour. Fans of the Maze Runner would definitely like this series because of its action and storyline. This story leaves you on edge and you cannot put it down! It also shows you what its like to have no freedom. I think the ending is the most surprising part (not the epilogue). I really hope other people enjoy this series as much as I did. If you’re unsure whether to read it or not give it a try anyway because it may be one of the best books you’ve ever read. Also, Team Peeta all the way!!

This book was absolutely amazing! The constant plot twists were drawing me in and it was a total page turner. I couldn’t put this book down after I got hold of it. Suzanne Collins is such a beautiful author, I could relate to some of the phrases even though it is set in such a different world. The book was thrilling yet sad, romantic, yet full of hatred and agony. The mood of this book felt vastly different from the other books in the series, much darker and scarier, with lot’s of action and I would be lying if I said I was bored with it for one moment. I highly recommend this to people who are looking for an edge-of-your-seat, adventurous novel. I have to say, this book left me crying at some parts, but I’m very happy I’ve read it because there are no other books like it and had so much heart.

When I realised how much the third book, Mockingjay, had changed from the first book, The Hunger Games, it really hit me deep. I was forced to think about how each and every character gradually evolved and all the problems that were put into perspective. I was in such an emotional state after the third book, mainly because I didn’t want to stop reading but also because of all the dramatic events. It was also very easy to imagine each scene and each character as the detail was always on point. I would definitely recommend this book (and the whole hunger games series) to everyone, especially people who like action, adventure, lots of emotions and a really good page turning novel. I would rate this book a 10/10!!

  13. The hunger games mockingjay is the third and last book in the hunger games trilogy. Join the remainder of district 12 as they rebel against the capital and try and recover Peeta who has been hijacked by the capitol. I really enjoyed this book, and recommend it to anyone over the age of 12 because it does contain some fairly visual/descriptive violent scenes.

  14. The hunger games MockingJay is the last novel in the Hunger Games trilogy. Peeta is hijacked by the capital with a serum that controls his brain and makes him want to kill Katniss, even though he is really madly in love with her. This book is about how district 13 team up with Katniss and the rebel against the capitol, and to get Peeta back to his normal state, although he has regular spurts when it stops working. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for people over the age of 12, because it does have a fair bit of violence.

  15. Mokingjay, by Suzanne is the third book of the series. It is apart of one of my favourite series. I really enjoyed this book as the storyline was very creative and different. There was lots of action, and you never knew what to expect. It had you on edge wanting to read more, and was a change to the first two books when she was inside th hunger games. It shows Katniss’s struggles, but also her strength and individuality. Personally my favourite character was Katniss herself as I felt she was a very strong female who was determined to survive and set things right. She stops at nothing to ensure her family’s safety as well as others in need of assistance. She is very courageous, determinded and loving. I feel as though her sister Prim is very important to Katniss and helps her to continue onwards and try not to look back. There are many parts of this book that are dark and saddening, but also parts that are lighter and happier. The ending is very full-on and action packed, hard to follow if you are not paying close enough attention. I would recommend this to anyone who likes action over the age of 12 or mature enough for some dark parts in the book. I really enjoyed this book, and i hope others would be able to also.

The Mocking Jay, being the last book of the series made me sad, because I knew that it was the end. The book never let me down, each chapter was entertaining. Yes, there were some parts that were confusing and a boring. But the moment you get into it, you won’t be able to put it down. I was purposely reading the book slow, because I didn’t want the story of Katniss Everdeen to end. I wanted to read it in and out and understand what Suzanne Collins was writing. Personally, in the Mocking Jay I found Katniss more emotional. I found it very different and I actually liked seeing this side of Katinss. Overall I highly recommend this book to everyone! It’s a wonderful book and the author Suzanne Collins is a fantastic writer. I would rate this book a 10/10 for sure!

I had finally finished two of three books in the Hunger games trilogy. I strongly believed that they were the most fantastic books I had ever read. However, after I opened Mockingjay, I knew that I had been wrong. This book was packed with even more drama and detail than the books before it. The reason I think this book was better than the previous books, The Hunger Games and Catching fire, is because the situation was much more difficult than before. Instead of having the Hunger games themselves as conflict, the conflict in mockingjay was an entire war, putting tens of thousands of lives at risk rather than just 24. This book is action packed and filled with drama and adventure! I think this book finalises the trilogy with a bang! I definitely recommend this book!!!

  19. Mockingjay is the final novel in trilogy of The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. If you haven’t read the first two books I highly recommend reading them before you read Mockingjay. In this novel Katniss Everdeen has escaped from the Quartar Quell games. Peeta a fellow tribute from her district who she has become very close to is believed to have been taken prisoner by the Capitol. The rebels of District 13 want Katniss to become the face of the revolution and encourage other districts to join in the uprising against the Capital, a district that has thrived and pampered its citizens at the expense of all the other districts. In this final novel Katniss must make many difficult choices one of which is choosing between her life long friend Gale and Peeta who has been brainwashed by the Capital and turned against Katniss. Katniss is also faced with many challenges. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

  20. Mockingjay is the third novel in The Hunger Games series. After an amazing first two books, I was excited to read the third. This book incorporates more genres than the previous two, like humour, love, sadness, violence and action. This book is different to the previous two as it stays away from the setting of the arena, and follows Katniss’ journey from being the Mockinjay, where she has to battle both emotionally and physically. In this book we see a different side to Katniss, from the Brave cold side we are often shown, to the more loving and vulnerable side. This book is quite sad so prepare the tissues! My favourite character was Haymitch, as he has always been the constant support network to Katniss, and I feel there characters personalities are very similar.Overall it is beautiful end to an amazing trilogy, and would definitely recommend 9.5/10.

  28. Mockingjay is the 3rd and final book in the Hunger Games series. In this book, it is all about the battle between the 13 districts and the capitol. Katniss is the face of it all, and becomes the ‘Mockingjay’. The book is very interesting, and I was always excited to get to the next chapter! My favourite characters are still Finnick and Peeta, even through in this they both change a lot in the book. They are both so courageous, and are willing to do anything for the people they love. There is a lot of death in this book, perhaps even more than in the books where they are actually competing in the Hunger Games. There is always a twist to everything in this book. My favourite scene in the book would have to either be Finnick and Annie’s wedding, or the epilogue. Both of these scenes are I was so excited for. If I could change one thing about the book, it would be Finnick or Prim’s death! I can’t believe they die! One of the other things I would change would be the fact that Gale and Katniss don’t speak anymore. I didn’t want them to end up together, but I thought that Gale cared so much about Katniss, and Katniss cared so much about him. I would give this book a 10 out of 10, because it is so amazingly awesome.

  32. Mockingjay is the third novel in The Hunger Games series and after an amazing first two books, I was excited to read the third. Sadly, I felt very let down after reading this. The storyline follows Katniss in her attempt to destroy the Capitol and more importantly President Snow, to save herself, her friends, family and her people. As she attempts to play the role of the leader of the revolution that’s been thrust upon her, she suspects that no one, not even the two boys fighting for her affections, has her best interests at heart. The most of the way was really good and the storyline quite thrilling however I really didn’t like the ending. Not giving anything away I simply didn’t like it because I felt the ending was rushed and there was not a lot of thought put into how it ended, it was just a bit too cliché for my taste. Although, overall I thought it was a good book and enjoyed the entire trilogy overall very much.

My favourite character was Prim she was gorgeous and she was willing to do anything for her sister just like Katniss, but sadly Prim dies in this book and I can’t imagine how sad Katniss would be because after all the reason Katniss volunteered for the Hunger Games was to keep her safe but I guess that she couldn’t. Suzanne Collins has a great imagination and I love how she can write and you can just picture what is happening in your head I loved this book so much and I wish there was another book.

I really loved this book because at the start Katniss was a girl who lived in the Seam but now she is leading a rebellion. My favourite part in this book was when Finnick was talking to Katniss about her love for Peeta because in that moment she knew from what Finnick had said that everyone had noticed her real love for Peeta not an act. My favourite character was Finnick because this time we see a different side of him because in Catching Fire he had a brighter side to him but here we see what really destroys him. I can relate to Prim because if I was in this rebellion I would want to help out any way possible because i would want to be free from President Snow’s reign. I don’t have a least favourite part because Suzanne Collins is such a great writer. Neither would I change it because it is amazing. I found that the start was not as good as the last part of the book. I would recommend this book for anyone who like suspense and action. My favourite character was Katniss because you got to see a different side of her.

When I realized how much the third book, Mockingjay had changed from the first book, The Hunger Games, it really hit me deep. I was forced to think about how each and every character gradually evolved and all the problems that were put into perspective. I was in such an emotional state after the third book, mainly because I didn’t want to stop reading but also because of all the dramatic events. It was also very easy to imagine each scene and each character as the detail was always on point. Shout out to Suzanne Collins!!!!

This is the third book in the hunger Games trilogy and I think it could also be my favourite too! I feel that I can really connect with the characters because of all the detail and emotion put into the book. It has drama, romance, and so many different events occurring during the story! The ending has a swift change from the storyline, but that only makes it better! A definite 10/10 from me!

This is by far my favourite book in the hunger games trilogy. The beginning is more of a continuation of catching fire, where the characters are still broadcasting the war between the districts and the capitol, thought towards the end of the book the storyline is much different. The last few chapters were very intense and being entirely honest, I’m pretty sure I cried throughout the last few chapters. The book is an amazing ending to the trilogy and I believe, though it is sad, it is a very well written ending. My favourite character in this book would have to be Peeta, because we get to see a different side of him and after all his suffering slowly becomes himself again and loves Katniss. I give this book a 10/10 and recommend that everyone reads it before the movie comes out!

  50. Mocking jay is amazing, it’s very detailed with lots of ups and downs. Susan Collins has thought up an amazing way to end such a great series, one minute you’re freaking out about Peeta and the next worrying about prim. All up I thought it was magnificently written and was a great way to end such an engaging series.

Reading this book is a rollerocaster, one minute you are crying and the next you are laughing. The author creates such an intriguing storyline that this book is hard to put down. The characters are so incredible and after reading this series you feel like you have a really good understanding of their personality and characteristics. This book is one of my absolute favourites and I highly recommend it to anyone, especially if they liked the Hunger Games movie/book. I would rate it an 8.5/10. Despite it being so amazing I think the first book was better but it is still definitely worth reading.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay is amazing! This book takes you on a roller-coaster, one minute the story is devastating, but the next minute a smile creeps onto your face. The storyline is intriguing and well written, but the concept itself is devastating and violent. My favourite character would have to be Katniss, for her brave personality. She fights for the ones she loves and what she believes is right. My favourite part of the book would have to be the very end, when Peeta asks Katniss “You love me, real or not real” and then Katniss answers “Real”. This part of the book is so romantic, Katniss finally admits to Peeta that all this time, she really loved him. I felt so warm and happy when this happened, and the epilogue just made me feel happy for them, but devastated that they will never forget the horrible things they saw during The Hunger Games and during the Uprising. Anyone who likes a adventure, suspense, action and romance would love this book, but be aware, tissues will be needed for certain parts of the book. This book, and the whole Hunger Games Trilogy deserves a 100/10!!!

This book was amazing just like the rest of the Hunger Games books. My favourite part of the book is the epilogue because it was the only part of the book that was peaceful and it was a nice ending to the trilogy. But my least favourite part of the book was when Prim died because it was so sad and Katniss was so upset about it. Katniss was my favourite character though because she’s so brave and she fights for her family and friends. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes adventure books with a bit of romance and if I had to rate it out of 10 I would rate it 9/10.

  54. Mockingjay was amazing!!! It was expecting something more like the first two, but it wasn’t. I was a bit surprised about the content and plot line but in the end it astonished me. My favourite part would be when Katniss, Gale and other people go to District 8 to shoot Katniss meeting with the people in the ‘hospital.’ I love this part because you get to see the distress of the Districts and how Katniss is a role model to everyone and just seeing her brings their hopes up. My favourite character would have to be Peeta because, a lot of people say his weak, but really he is the strongest of them all. He puts up with his mother’s abuse, he loses his leg, he gets hijacked and made to hate the only person he loves and his life is changed for the rest of his life, never to be the same again. I would only change the part where someone dies that I don’t want to. I would rate this book a 8 1/2 out of 10 because it wasn’t as good as the second one. I would recommend this book to anyone over 12 🙂

  55. The last hunger games was absolutley fantastic and ended perfectly. Although it was a bit confusing the story was really good, but I must admit I felt as though the ending was rushed and that the middle section could of been cut shorter to make the ending better but overall it was still a fantastic way to end such a grossing trilogy. I rate this book an 8/10 and definitely recommend anyone who has read the first and second book to read the last!

  56. This is the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. We finished Catching Fire with the realisation that District 12, Katniss’s home, had been completely destroyed and Peeta had been captured by the Capitol. There was also the infamous reveal of District 13. But what does this mean for the rebellion? You will have to read to find out!

Katniss’s strength and courage really shines through in this book. All of the characters mature and develop so much, that they are almost completely different to how they began. It makes you connect with them on a more real level, as it shows their flaws and that they are only human. This book had me thinking, what really defines the ‘good and evil’ sides of a battle. Were District 13 and President Coin any better than the Capitol and President Snow? They were both ruthless in their goals, using any means necessary to achieve it. They both used Katniss and in the end, they both wanted to destroy her. I found myself hating the rebels just as much as I hated the Capitol.

The complexity of the storyline is one of the best that I have come across. Suzanne Collins does a great job of detailing the effects of war, and that it cannot have a truly happy ending. I would recommend this series to anyone above the age of 13.

I loved the way all the parts were described in much detail and I loved how easy it was to understand. Katniss had changed quite a bit between the 1st book and the 2nd and they way she kept going even though everything has fell apart is amazing. I really loved this book and I would recommend it to 13 and up and I would rate it a 9.5/10. The hunger games is by far one of my favourite book series.

And it was an amazing book, but i was a little disappointed and i think that they could’ve executed a few things better. The book was quite slow and tiresome in parts, and Katniss had seemed to gain quite a large amount of vulnerability, which at times was a little annoying. But this was not a bad book, far from it actually. It still had a very interesting and engaging plot that kept me interested and hooked to reading it. Over all it was not as good as the first 2 books, but it did have a certain charisma about it that i really admired. I rate this book 7/10

My favourite character in this one is Katniss and you get to see a bit of a different side to her. She is a determined and strong character. I don’t have a favourite part because I love all of it. It’s crazy how the things you wanted to happen in the first book of the Hunger Games can change to something the exact opposite. How something can be happy and yet so sinister. For a few days I was obsessed with Mockingjay and I spent the whole time reading and barely looking up from the book. It really is amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the previous two books and is prepared for the unexpected. I have so many emotions towards this book – happy, sad, angry, hopeful, hostile and so much more. I love and hate this book at the same time. It definitely deserves a 10 out of 10. Fantastic!

  65. From start to finish Mockingjay had me captivated, s.collins is an amazing writer, to be able to write three books on the hunger games is absolutely incredible!

I was so sad when Mockingjay finished because it meant that there was no more books on the hunger games that i could read. So when i started, i tried to read it slowly to make it last, but that didn’t end up happening, it didn’t take long in till i was reading the last page.

No book series I have ever read has been able to have my full attention for so long, It has been a long time since i read Mockingjay and i am still so amazed by it

It was written really well, it had both sad and happy moments but I feel that the first two books were slightly better the Mockingjay.

Mockingjay has more about defying the capital and snow and has much more violence. It also doesn’t have a whole lot of Peeta for what felt like forever but that probably added to the suspense and is one of the many reasons i just couldn’t bring myself to put the book down

I love the whole series and want there to be another billion books to read because I am finding it hard to find a book that matches the hunger games

10/10 for all the books in the series

My favourite part was when Katniss goes to kill President Snow but turns on President Coin! In my eyes President Coin was just as bad as Snow, she hated Katniss and was snobby, rude and like Snow greedy for power. My least favourite part was when Prim died! I was heart broken! It was a horrible feeling! I know she was just a character but I got so attached to her as she was so precious and I couldn’t imagine how Katniss was feeling! I rate this book 10/10 and I recommend it to anyone who love a great ending to a series and has heaps of time to read!

Mockingjay is the last book of the trilogy. This book had a change of scenery it stayed away from the arena of the hunger games. In this book it showed more genres like humour(a bit), love, sadness, violence and action. A lot of the characters died, this was a book without mercy or even unfair. In this particular book I noticed that Katniss was weaker emotionally but she still came through, so that is why she is my favourite character. Some of the events actually surprised me like certain deaths, attitudes of characters and e.t.c. This book was the only one that gave me something to criticise. I thought that that epilogue was unnecessary but I stilled liked the content because it gave an idea of the lives of Katniss and Peeta. I rate this book 8/10 and I would still recommend this book for those who are 12+.

I’m a big fan of The Hunger Games series and I thought overall the story was really good. It was a really good page turner because lots happened and it kept it really interesting. At the start of the book I didn’t really get what had happened considering the ending of Catching Fire but it did well to explain what had happened. I thought it was really sad when heaps of people died because they all died trying to fight and usually were an important part of the book. Even if they weren’t as important like Boggs, I still thought his death was really sad. Although it was really good the end really annoyed me. Only people who have read the book would understand this but I felt like the “incident” that happened was really stupid and didn’t really have any meaning other than to bring Katniss and “the guy she ended up with” together. It also ment that when that person died, Katniss was a sook for the rest of the story and that really ruined it. I also thought that in the end the epilogue didn’t really have a purpose and it was just another way of Katniss saying that she was in love and blah, blah, blah. So for this story alone i rate it 7.5/10.

When I was reading this book, I felt like I was right there watching what was going on. So many things occured that I really didn’t expect, and the novel had me on the edge of my seat. After District 12 was bombed by the Capitol at the end of the quarter quell, everyone who escaped moved into District 13, where they planned revenge against the Capitol. But you will have to read the book, to find out what happened next. I give this book 10/10 and think anyone over 13 will love this book.

Mockingjay was an absolutely amazing ending to a phenomenal series. Suzanne Collins did a great job writing this series, and although it was a bit slow at times, I felt very involved in the story.

It starts off with Katniss visiting the ash that was once District 12. She finds her house, the meadow, and many other childhood places that are now charred remains. The capitol bombed 12, and Katniss wants revenge. District 13, the underground district that everyone thought was destroyed in the dark days, is plotting a plan to attack The Capitol, with undercover sources in the capitol. Katniss makes videos and Beetee hacks into the capitol’s television lines. The videos broadcast in the Capitol and Peeta (who is captured by the Capitol) calls for 13 to stop. He warns them about bombs and they all survive thanks to peeta but he gets physically abused by the capitol. I won’t say anymore but I do think you should read it.

I really enjoyed this book and I could not put it down! I felt sad when a few of the main characters died but I was happy to see President Snow finally fall. The ending was a bit abrupt but I was still happy with it.

I rate this book 10000/10 and I really reccommend that you read it if you are 13+ I love it and I am sure you will too!

This book can be a little irritating at times, but it definitely isn’t a let down from the previous two books. I read this book quickly and I got sick of Katniss constantly feeling sorry for herself or whining about missing Peeta pretty soon. I won’t give away the ending, but some of the events are quite shocking, and sad, depending on which characters you are attched to or have grown fond of. My favourite characters by far where Finnick and Johanna. Finnick because he was just plain funny and I was interested reading parts about him because he sort of brought an air of happiness to the scene, and Johanna because you could pretty much feel her dislike towards certain people and her sour attitude. Overall, this is definitely a book that you should read, but I recommend reading the previous books first.

The Capitol is angry and wants Katniss dead. But Katniss will not go without a fight. A BIG fight. Most of the book is about the war with the Capitol. It’s really intense but gripping. You always want to keep reading to find out what happens in the next chapter.
I was so sad when I finished the book because there was nothing left to read. 😦 But I was so moved by the Hunger Games I have to keep reminding myself that it’s fake and nothing like that will ever happen. The book has made me look at things differently. It has showed me that nothing is as bad as it seems. When I have a problem I think about the problems that Katniss and Peeta had to overcome and mine seem tiny compared to theirs. I know it’s crazy!!
So I recommend that you read these books, trust me you will thank everyone that has posted reviews on them!

*sigh* the last book of the hunger games.I was so disappointed….. because it was the end of a FABULOUS series! This book… has so many deaths of my favourite characters, like Prim! The series twisted and turned around so many ways, like when the rebels won the war, but Coin the president got killed, by Katniss! I loved the book especially when it got towards the end, with more of the action. My favourite characters were Pollux, Finnick and Peeta, Pollux is so determined and uses his past knowledge as a slave in the sewers to help him in the war, Finnick, my sugarcube boy, risked his life to slow down those horrible mutts to save the others, you could tell he loved Annie so much he didn’t left go of her hand once at their wedding, I think that is very sweet. Peeta still married Katniss with his devoted love he overtook that poison and didn’t attack her, he also decorated Annie and Finnick’s wedding cake beautifuly.I totally loved this book, BUT there really needs to be many more books that talk about their kids, Gale, Peeta and if his medicine wears off and much more! Suzanne Collins is a great writer! I rate this book 20/10 GREAT!

Firstly Katniss was always walking around doing nothing, it was slow to start and her emotions were all over the place and annoying to read. Then the whole trouble with Peeta annoyed me because he was my favourite the whole time and know I didn’t trust him so I went back to likely Gale and then in the end she ends up with Peeta even though he still wants to kill her; I don’t see that as a happy ending, it seems like a horrible ending and Gale just goes off to District 2 and you never hear of him again. I also hate that once she’s over be all confused and goes into battle Prim dies and she starts right back where she was. I didn’t get this book, I certainly didn’t like it and I have no idea how the film will go.

But in saying that I think the idea of the hunger games is very sick – Children from 12 – 18 going into an arena to kill each other for the AMUSEMENT of the capitals citizens. It is very violent and disturbing. I was very surprised when all the deaths of her close friends and family happened. I love how there’s little bits in the story that just make it that little bit better.

But it also scared me. The three part series is set in the future, and it is a horrific one. Once a year one boy and one girl are chosen from the 12 Districts of Panem to compete in the Hunger Games. The 24 kids (12-18 i think) are forced into an arena to kill each other. The victor is the one left alive. The entire games are made to amuse the Capitol (the ruling force of Panem). The book is from Katniss’ point of view and I admire her even though she is a fictional character. She does whatever it takes to survive, and for her family to survive. There are some heart-wrenching scenes (SPOILER ALERT) like when her sister 12 year old Prim dies, as does many others. I guess what makes this series apart from others like it is the harshness. The killings, the politics, the revolution, the emotional and physical exhaustion are all in vivid detail. My favorite line is from the last page, where Katniss talks about her marriage with Peeta, her recovery from the trauma of the games and her children. She sees her children laugh and play chasy in a meadow that is actually the top of a mass grave and she says (or thinks) “there are worse games to play”. I recommend it for anyone over 12.

  93. “Mockingjay” is the third novel in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, following “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire”. Personally, I thought that this novel was a bit of a heart breaker – not just because it was the end to an epic trilogy.
A short time after starting the novel I realised that Collins’ writing style changed slightly for this novel. Whether that was intentional – so that the more advanced themes could be dealt with, or to convey the mood – or not, I’m not sure.
I also felt that the epilogue was really unnecessary, and that the story ends better if you just ignore it.
Whichever “Team” you’re on, Team Peeta or Team Gale, your heart will be broken in one way or another, and after a while it was hard to read this book because so many of my favourite characters were effected so immensely.
Multiple characters (new and old) are killed off (which should come as no surprise to those who have read the first two books). It felt a bit like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows all over again.
Although there were many negatives to the novel, there were a lot of positive things too. You really get to see inside the characters’ heads a lot more, and you get to see what drives them to do what the do.
Since this story is not set in the actual games, there was a vast change of scenery, and it wasn’t as stationary in setting as the other two novels.
It’s definitely worth reading if you have read the other books and enjoyed them, but be prepared as it is quite different and your previous views on characters and events will change hugely!
Hopefully you enjoy some aspect of it.
