Anne Frank, her parents, sister, another family, and an older gentleman were Jews in the Netherlands during the German occupation of World War II. These eight people hid in a secret alcove above a factory. Anne had a friend who listened to all her thoughts during the next two years. “Kitty” was her diary.

The Franks had lived in Germany. As the anti-Semitism sentiment took hold in that country, he and his wife left everything and moved their daughters to the Netherlands. In a few years they were not safe there, either. Finally, after Mr. Frank was called to report to the Germans, they went into hiding in the “Secret Annexe”. The Von Daan family joined them since the two men were business partners, and later, they included a dentist, Mr. Deusel.

Anne’s parents gave her Kitty on her birthday in 1942. Anne started writing in it very quickly, and took Kitty very seriously. They still were out in their home at the time, and the first group of entries deal with Anne’s private thoughts over school and her social life. The boys who were in love with her were discussed and described, as well as her reactions. Soon after her birthday, though, the family went into hiding. They stayed in the “Secret Annexe” over two years before they were found and arrested by the Germans. Of the eight residents, only Mr. Frank survived the concentration camps.

Anne Frank’s diary is so eye opening to what the Holocaust was like for young children and families. The book is so shocking and cracks open the realities of being a Jew in WWII. Anne writes to an imaginary friend, Kitty and documents the Holocaust from her perspective. Anne really shared some of her deepest thoughts and her personality comes through. I was inspired by Anne’s courage and wits through a very dark time, she managed to keep a positive outlook throughout her time in the annex. The ending was shocking and emotional, as it felt like you really got to know Anne. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys true war stories. I enjoyed this book a lot and would recommend this book to ages 12 plus.

The Diary of Anne Frank is diary written by a young girl (Anne) to her imaginary best friend Kitty. It describes and documents her daily life inside the ‘secret annexe’ along with other accompanying Jew families who are hiding from the Narnziss in the early 1940s. Through out the dairy it documents what great hard ship and conditions they had to live in in order to survive. The diary is quite sad and confronting, which is why I would recommend for 12 – 13 years and above. Overall it’s a really intriguing & educating read and deserves the rave it’s given.

The diary of Anne Frank is a book from 1942 it’s an incredible book about a Jewish family of 4 having to hide from the nazis and the war for 2 years and it’s all written from the perspective of a 13-year-old who was in hiding and was living a very different lifestyle from her usual life but was still going through what a teenager goes through she develops her own thoughts and opinions and expands her knowledge, all while being stuck in the same space for two years and living in constant fear of 1 day being found.

The Diary of Anne Frank is an amazing book. This book is the diary entries of a teen girl named Anne Frank who was a Jew in the second world war. Annes diary entries travel from out in the world in WW2 Germany, to inside a small attic where she hides with her family away from the Nazis controlling Germany. This book takes you inside the mind of a teen girl, and her somewhat calm thoughts compared to the setting of her writings. It gives you a look at a personal experience of a jew at the time, and shows the gradual cruelty and harsh rules creeping into the lives of people (especially Jews) in Germany at the time. It is an inspirational and beautiful book that i recommend to many, especially teen girls. I also recommend this book to people who are interested in the Holocaust.

  6. This book is amazing but so sad! I definitely shed a few tears whilst reading it. It is about a young Jewish girl and her family, during the holocaust. Due to the Nazis, they are forced to hide in the attic of the warehouse. The book is the diary that Anne kept during these times. I would definitely recommend anyone over the age of 11 to read this book, especially if you love a tear jerker. It deals with very serious themes, in a youthful and optimistic way. Overall I would rate it 9/10.

Anne was such a brave girl to have been able to go through that. I would definitely recommend This book to anyone who is interested in ww2. 10/10

  9. This book is really amazing. I was so inspired on how Anne could sit down all day and not make a noise not having contact with the outside world for a huge amount of time, yet she is still so happy to have the opportunity to learn how to write, laugh at burning split peas, but she still lives in suspense waiting to see if she will ever be discovered by the Germans. Anne Frank is very inspiring and although her life didn’t have a happy ending it still proves you don’t need the most expensive clothes or the latest iPod to be happy all you need is your family and friends. I really like the topic of the holocaust and if you haven’t already read them I highly recommend reading Once, Then, and Now by Morris Glietzman. I recommend readers grade 6 and over to read this because it is very dry at parts but very interesting to read a real life story about the holocaust first hand hiding in one of the best hideouts ever!!

  12. The diary of Anne Frank, was an incredible, touching real story. I felt her pain as she wrote in this diary everyday while hiding out the Nazi’s. She did live a good life and then it all turned upside down. She was scared and tortured and eventually was shipped off to a death camp Auschwitz. I was confronted in this book but I was fascinated at the same time, I couldn’t put it down.

Despite a tragic ending to the book, the journey of Anne Franks life and living as a Jew in Nazi Germany is a quite insightful and I enjoy how it is a direct recount of a family hiding and trying to survive in the war. It is very detailed and you can really picture where she was stuck and had to live for an extended period of time. I rate this book a 9/10.

Anne is a normal teenager with normal teenage thoughts; friends, boys, parents and independence. Reading Anne Frank will teach you that you should always stand up for what you believe in and to have hope in the future. I really enjoyed this story and I think that every teenage girl should read it.

  18. I was most defiantly not a fan of the diary of Anne Frank. It was rather dull and boring and it really dragged out. It took me ages to read as I didn’t enjoy it and couldn’t get stuck into it. I really like reading about what happened back in world war two and I was recommended this book by a friend. It was truly a disappointment compared to the other books iv’e read based on this topic. If I was to choose on good part about this book it would be the fact that this young girl was really dedicated to writing this diary almost everyday. Anyone into books of repetition would love this book but sorry I wasn’t a fan. I would say people over the age of 8 could read this book and I rate it 2/10.

  19. This story depicts the life of Anne Frank during the second world war. Due to this terrible time that she was forced to live in, her and her family were forced to go into hiding. Along with a few other people, including an older lady that gave her a hard time and a young boy which became her star crossed lover, they spent the terrible days locked away in the upstairs of a home. Behind a bookcase inside the office, there was an entire world containing different people with the same end game, to get out of the war alive. Despite the tight living space and endless bombs destroying the homes around them, they were some of the lucky few that were able to live for years barely disturbed. All until the day where their fate was met and Anne was no longer able to go on recording her point of view on World War 2 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This story is not only a great insight into this horrible period but a great story about a young girl who is not given the time of day by those around her.

  20. The book, although I do find boring in some spots, is a true story. And it so happens that this Anne Frank chose to write her story all down. It gives us a glimpse into what it was like for those “enemies” of the Nazi’s. (In this case, a Jew). I believe that the book is not trying to convey a moral or meaning, but is really just a diary. However, this diary does convey something. What Anne communicated in her diary was hope, she celebrated life and she celebrated hope.

Anne Frank is a really good book just not for me because I found the context really hard to understand. I found the book a little boring and it went on and on for a little bit longer than it should have. But I did also like it because it was all about reality and what real did happen. It opens you eyes about some things that people had to go through back in the day and how they felt with it. I would rate this book a 6 out of 10.

The diary of Anne Frank is about a little jewish girl and her time through the 2nd world war. I thought the diary of Anne frank was boring because it just went on and on about the same thing for two thirds of the book. The ending was also a bit disappointing because there was no detail as to what happened and I was expecting a really great ending but it was an anticlimax . I think the book was meant to show how boring and dull her life was living in hiding but why would anyone think that was a good idea to write a book about. If I was to choose one positive about this book it would be the front cover because it as a vintage photo. I would rate this book about 3/10.

After reading this book I found out that this book was discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life. Anne Frank’s would have never known the amount of people that would read her diary, its amazing! It is a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and how lucky we are in Australia! Even though she goes into hiding she has heaps of bravery and she is so strong spirited. I would recommend this book to people over the age of 12 because there are some pretty violent scenes, i really felt like I was there with Anne as her story unfolded.

It perfectly captures the circumstances and what it was like in World War 2. The things she and her family had to go though were horrible it makes me sick to think about. It has made me realise how lucky we all are to live such amazing and happy lives. She tells every important detail about her life back then.
Anne is a great and extremely mature girl who has inspirered me and I am sure will do the same for you. She is an amazing person who we should all look up to. This novel is wrote perfectly, so I wouldn’t change a thing about it. i think everyone take the opportunity to read it and I am sure you will love it just as much as I do. If I was to rate this book it would be a 10/10.

It was interesting reading about the awful events of World War 2, and truly how cruel people could be. The last passage does not indicate anything to her death, but I will admit, I definitely had a sick feeling in my stomach, knowing that the end of Anne Frank’s life wasn’t a happy one. You can really relate to her to things she goes through, and the hardships she faces every single day. Overall, I would rate this book a 9/10.

Frank, this diary was kept for several year, retelling the life of one young girl hidden away in an attic during the period of the Holocaust. This moving diary contains Anne Frank’s life during her adolescence. With many heartfelt entries, Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl, will change your perspective of World War II forever. This is one novel I definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. We are very lucky to have retained something so ordinary whilst so beautiful.

Wow! this book is absolutely gorgeous, i shed a tear or two whilst reading it and it really touched me. The whole way through, it felt like Anne was speaking to me and that i was her best friend in the whole world that she wasn’t afraid to share her secrets with. That was the best bit about the book i think and the way anne describes her experiences just paints a perfect picture in your mind about what it must’ve been like to live in fear that someone could come anytime and take them away. Of course, Anne was my favourite character, she is so lively and has a different view on everyone in her life, which i can sort of relate to in some ways. I think that Anne is so inspiring and is a lesson to all of us to be graetful for what we have and the lives we live. I would recommend this book for boys or girls aged 10 years or over, it’s definitely one of my favourite books!

Throughout the book I felt that I had become to know Anne. You begin to understand what it would have been like for Anne, to be in such a small space, for a large period of time, with so many people. The ending of the diary ends in with a history piece which explains what happens to Anne once her diary abruptly ends, I find this bit (the ending) the saddest bit because it’s so unfair. I think it’s great that they were able to save Anne’s diary, because even though she was never alive to her story, her journal is still able to inspire readers all over the world.

She’s so strong and tries to stay positive most of the time, and even though she’s jewish, and in the missle of a war, in a tiny little attic, that she has to share with about a dozen other people, she’s happy. Happy that she’s alive, and happy to have her family. This really is such a touching book. 9 1/2 / 10

Is a published book based on the events that occurred in Germany. Whilst under the control and occupation of Hitler and the Nazis. The novel composed by Anne Frank gives a detailed insight into her life during this time. This story is mainly expressed through her perceived insight into what occurred, the book reflects her life in hiding along with her family, their journey to stay safe. This book is an interesting read it has different points of views. I would recommend this book to anyone
who enjoys a good read, based on true events. The reason i read this book is because it gives a great detailed recollection into history during this period of time, i would recommend this book for all students who study either english or History. During this book their are moments that show the formation of compassion, the growth and development of relationships and love also it shows the different sacrifices people made these moments in which this occurred would be my favorite parts of the book. Although the book itself and the story is sad, everyone can learn something different about it. This is why i enjoyed the book The Diary Of A Young Girl =)

  45. This is a true story of an inspirational girl called Anne Frank. She is a jew and in a time of upheaval, World War 2, her life is changed drastically. Being a Jew she is not part of the ‘perfect race’ that Adolf HItler, the Nazi leader, wants in Germany. Her family, along with other refuges, hide out in another family’s house, behind a bookcase for years and years.
The book gives an insight on how life continues even when it isn’t good. One of the best things about this book is how you can read about Anne’s life before being in danger so you can really see how different and scary the swap from happy citizen of Germany to sought-out prisoner was.
This book could be read for fun, even though it is very sad it is still enjoyable to understand more about that time period from a teenager’s point of view. Or maybe you might read it to learn some history. Whatever you do, you’ll know why this diary is so famous and why it is an instant classic.

It was really interesting to read about how hard life was, and what people in the war really are going through.
People in this world we live in now take things for granted. Imagine having to beg for food, or be so quiet the Nazis don’t hear you. Imagine having to fear for your life as a young teenager. No person should have to be put through that.
    But people were.

It is about a young Jewish girl who hid from the Nazi’s with her family and family friends in an annexe. This was during the Holocaust. Anne writes in her diary most days and keeps it updated to what has been happening.

  60. The diary of Anne Frank is an inspirational novel, set in a tragic time in history. Anne Frank is a young jewish girl who hid from the Nazi’s with her family and family friends in a secret annexe for an extended period of time during World War Two. The book details everything that happens to Anne and the other residents and told through Anne’s eyes. Despite being a sad novel, it is also very educational and gives a personal insight about what occurred in Europe during the Holocaust.

  61. This is a great book about a courageous young girl and he friend Kitty. Anne Frank was a young jewish girl in the holocaust and world war II. They hid in the ‘Secret Annexe’ for over two years before they were arrested by the Nazis. Of the eight residents that were put in the concentration camp from the secret room only Mr Frank survived and before they were rescued Anne caught a disease and died.
I rate this book a 4.5/5 and I would recommend it to anyone who would love a good read that really has you connecting with the characters and makes you feel as if you are really there.

  62. oooohhh This is my kind of book. I love books on what we learn about in class specially to do with history. Getting more of a picture of what it was like back then. Though I could never ever really be able to really picture in my mind what it was really was like as others like Anne or even Elie Wiesel from ‘night’. these are very very sad stories but a story that pulls you in to read more. people who havent read it are missing out.

  63. This is the best book ever !!! It’s about a young girl, jew living in the time of the holacast and also during the world war 2. Anne Frank is a young girl but is very intelligent and brave. She is hiding from the Germans and writes into her diary most of the days. This book is a very sad book but a true fantastic book. I read this book recently and just love it although I must admit that I did cry once or twice 😦

They stayed in the “Secret Annexe” and over two years before they were found and arrested by the Germans. Of the eight residents, only Mr. Frank survived the concentration camps that they stayed in.
