The blog for books and movies

When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon’s heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she wants.

I loved reading The One, by Kiera Cass, because it was so captivating and intriguing down to the very last page! I think that it was a perfect ending to The Selection Series as all characters found a happy ending and it all worked out really well I felt. This by far was the best book of the series, i’ve re-read it about a million times it’s that good. My favourite part was when America, the protagonist, jokingly called the Queen ‘mum’ and the queen replied “If what I suspect will happen mum will be just fine”. It was so unexpected and sweet, it really is a beautiful novel. My favourite character is the Queen because even after all the hardship she has endured she is a strong, resilient and graceful woman. I cannot fault the book, Kiera Cass has done a marvellous job of describing each setting and character. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books or movies especially aged 11-14 but it would still be suitable for younger readers. Whether you’re in the mood to cry, laugh or just smile THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! Give it a go and I am sure you will be recommending it to all your friends!!! I seriously could not put it down because it was sooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. This is the final book in ‘The Selection’ series and I LOVED THIS BOOK. The whole time I was sure America was going to win, but then she and Aspen started things up again and I was so mad because I always loved Maxon more. I also liked the extra addition of all of the interviews and parents in this book. How America had to do the right thing for the camera as well as impress Maxon’s parents which she didn’t do a very good job of. The ending was sssooo intense and I was sitting on the edge of my seat because I really thought he wasn’t going to choose her, and even though it was a sad ending i was glad it happened because it helped Maxon realise that he wanted America. This was great ending to the series and I’ve heard there are spin offs of these books so I’m definitely going straight to reading them.

  3. This book in my opinion was the saddest book that I have read in the series because I’m not going to spoil but a few people die and it was really really sad and dramatic deaths. I really liked this one a lot because it is more about the choice that she has to make between her two lovers and cant decide because of conflicting and dishonesty. this book I would only recommend for people 13+ just because there is a lot more violence and maturity. I have read all of the books and I think that you have to read the first books to understand them completely. I really recommend this series for people who like romance and conflicting novels.

  4. I love theSelection series, and this was the perfect ending! I couldn’t put it down, and have probably re-read it a million times, it’s that good. I liked how it wasn’t all about the competition, and had many other issues, such as the rebels, issues with Aspen, and problems with King Clarkson. My favourite quote in this book is “Break my heart, break it a thousand times. It was only ever yours to break anyway.” This was said by Maxon, to America, and I just love it, because it really represents their relationship, and it is just so… I can’t find the words to describe it. Kiera Cass has a great way of writing, and can easily make her books so so engaging, with many little stories inside of a big one. She also makes Illèa seem like a believable place, so that the book becomes more enjoyable, because it seems like it could actually happen. I would recommend this book for people 13+, who love action, drama, and a bit of romance. Don’t be deceived by the pretty dresses on the cover!

But like the other books it is more than romance, it has adventure with the rebels and a drastic ending that will change everything!!! Because of the amazing writing you feel like who are America!! You will seriously fall in love with the characters!!! There is such strong emotion in this book between friends you will not want to put the page down. I know it is quite sad to see the love story between Prince Maxon and America to come to a end but thats just how books go. The tension in this story is very high and you just want to read what happens. The rebels have two sides on bad and the other is good. One side wants to kill and one side want equality. The characters are explained well and their backstories are exposed. You will hate characters and you will begin to love them.
It felt like i was always inside the book. The scene of every page is told to perfection. The romance can be bad and good. The friendships are also strong between Marlee and America. Please do read this book along with the series. You will love the author Kiera Cass for this. I do hope this becomes a movie one day because i love this book to the moon and back..

  8. Although I have loved the whole series of The Selection so far, this book is definitely the best of the series! I love both Maxon’s and America’s characters, because they are so different, yet so perfect together. My favourite scene was definitely the final scene, as it was so romantic and amazing, but I can’t say anything else about it without spoiling the whole series. But I really hated the part of the book where Maxon was shot, and I was crying, especially when America said to him, ‘If you live, I’ll let you call me your dear. I won’t complain, I promise.’ I felt as if I was actually there and that is because Kiera Cass had written every scene to perfection. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes romantic books or movies, because I absolutely loved this book.
