I enjoyed this book so much. At first, when I read the first chapter I thought it would be one of those books where you could “predict” it. I soon realized that it was not that kind of book. Every page I turned I wanted to find out who took her. I found my self reading late into the night trying to uncover the mystery like the main character was. This book was jam-packed with mystery and romance you will find yourself falling in love with the characters. The main characters name is Taylor she and her friend Sierra are sitting in there bed finding cute guys and talking to them. Sierra finds her “soulmate” on an app called Mysterychat she falls in love with this guy by the appearance and his “personalities” she gives him her email but gives him Taylors instead. taylor starts to talk to him as well and does the same as Sierra falls in love with the “guy” behind the screen. When Sierra comes to school telling her that she is going to go out with this guy both of them are in love with. Sierra goes on this date and never comes back. Taylor and her friends go out and try to find her and to see who this guy truly is. My favourite is Taylor because she is such an innocent girl she had no idea of the danger she was in when she was talking to her “soulmate”. This story will grab you by your collar and definitely holds on tight. I rate this book 100 out of 10 this book is truly amazing I definitely recommend it.

  2. Risk is truly one of the best books I have ever read. Not only does the story engage you so much that you can not put the book down even though its 12:00 at night but it also shows us the real world and that we should be more careful.

Taylor and Sierra have been best friends all their lives. Sierra is more of that friend who doesn’t think before doing things and doesn’t realise that she hurts her friends when she does something crazy dangerous. Taylor is that friend who would and will always be by your side and even though you hurt her she will forgive you.

Taylor and Sierra are normal girl teenagers, they like boys, go to school, have family but one day Sierra goes on Taylor’s computer and talks to this boy online. Taylor and Sierra start to like him. The mystery guy says nice things that pleases Taylor and Taylor starts to have a crush on him. When Taylor goes to school one day Sierra tells Taylor that she is going to meet him on Friday and Taylor gets seriously jealous. So Sierra asks Taylor to cover for her and typical Taylor is to loyal to say no but Sierra said she will be back in the morning.

Sierra doesn’t turn up on Saturday, or Sunday, and when two days turn to three Taylor has enter another world she didn’t know existed. Risk is a fantastic book that is inspired by true and terrible stories of online predators. You need a box of tissues next to you and make sure someone is home. Risk is a thrilling book and will make you think more about these things. Go grab Risk right now and I rate Risk a 10/10.

Taylor and Sierra are best friends, they are the type of best friends that never leave your side. Sierra has no knowledge of her surroundings and the things that her friends feel when she does crazy and dangerous things, she is hurting people without even realising it. Sierra is very reliant on other people, she is lucky to have such thick skinned friends but sometimes she can really take that for granted. Sierra is a popular and attractive girl with a very bold and confident personality but she jumps into things without evaluating what could possibly happen and that’s where murderous conclusions exist.

Taylor is thrown into a world of nightmares she never even knew existed, Taylors goes through unimaginable pain, jealousy, guilt, regret, sadness, anger and even depressing stages. Taylor learns valuable lessons and shares her stories with the world to let everyone know what so many people like herself including her have been through. Taylor experiences real life dramas that are scary to even think about, she is very tough and an amazingly good ally to have around.

This book brings goosebumps up my spine to even think that this is very true and many people have experienced this reality. The chilling factor is that somewhere out in the world someone is talking to a murderer online right now. I love the way that Flurr Ferris has combined and mixed Romance into this book, it works really well with the horror and secrecy of the book. This book shows all of the dramas of a typical teenager as well as giving a meaningful message to all of the real life typical teenagers out there like myself. This book is very educational but also a suspenseful read.

I would probably recommend this book for readers by the age of 12 plus, the just before teen stage to show them the dangers of social media. I would rate this book a 9/10!

  4. Risk is a story that is so action packed filled with dangerous, threatening events. It is so eyeopening and does educate us how nasty the online world can be, and how many sever consequences can happen if we don’t be careful. Taylor one of the main characters suddenly get’s sick of her friend Sierra as she got every little thing she wanted. Sierra begins chatting to some people online, just for the fun of it, this person is called Jacob Johns. They decided they both wanted to meet each other, so they went on a date, but did Sierra think before she went, no! After this date that everyone was talking about, Sierra never came back. This moment on I was so concerned and scared. They soon discovered that Jacob Jones, wasn’t really the person he was acting to be. He was a online predator, and did so many harsh things. Once reading this book it really opened my eyes and certainly warned me and most defiantly changed my thoughts about social media. It also made me aware of the critical online predators and how to keep myself safe if this frightening issue happened to me. At times while reading ‘Risk” I felt some frustration inside me as I don’t know why Sierra didn’t realise he wasn’t who he said he was when they spoke online. It also made me sad and shocked when Taylor didn’t take any action until a few days after Sierra failed to return from her date. If my friend told me she was going on a date and didn’t come back after a couple of days I would tell the police and other responsible adults straight away. I really think that the author used creative language and described the situation in really good depth, that I could imagine it so clearly. This book was a really enjoyable read for me even though it had a devastating ending. I had many may mixed emotions throughout this story, they were both bad and good. I will most defiantly recommend this book from teen and above as it can get a bit violent.

  5. Risk is an eye opener to the dangerous online world that can have severe consequences. Taylor is so sick of her friend Sierra getting everything she wants and being spoilt rotten. Sierra starts chatting to Jacob Jones, they then decide to meet up and go on a date. But Sierra never came back. They soon discover Jacob Jones strangled her and killed her. He was a murderer in disguise. This book really opened my eyes and changed the way I felt about social media. It also made me more aware of online predators and how to keep myself safe on social media. I felt very frustrated at times in this book because I don’t know why Sierra didn’t realise he wasn’t who he said he was when they spoke online. It also made me sad when Taylor didn’t take any sort of action until a few days after Sierra failed to return from her date. If my friend told me she was going on a date and didn’t come back after a couple of days I would tell the police and other responsible adults straight away. I think this author used fantastic language and really described the situation so that you could picture it. This book was a fantastic read because it was thrilling but it had a sad ending. I love Fleur Ferris’s books because they are written so incredibly well. I had many mixed emotions when I was reading this book some were sadness, sorrow and regret. I would recommend this book to anyone of all ages and gender because it is so fantastic!

  6. The suspenseful novel ‘Risk’ by Fleur Ferris follows the emotional and intense journey of each character. They all suffered from guilt and were faced with questions regarding trust and honesty. Taylor is thrown into a very dark world that continually moulds and matures her. Taylor encountered jealousy when her friend Sierra stole her new online friend. Sierra was desperate and an easy victim for an online predator. She didn’t notice when she hurt her friends because she was too busy worrying about herself. After Sierra’s family went off around the world for work purposes, she had a need for attention and she would get that any way possible. She was self centred and didn’t consider the feelings of others. Taylor was forced to be honest about Sierra’s disappearance when she suddenly realised that she had been gone a suspicious amount of time. She became a victim of blame and distrust. This book is really one that everyone should read as everything in this novel is all too possible. This is a must read! 100 out of 10. Best book I have ever read and ever will read.

Taylor and sierra have have been best friends their whole life. Taylor is getting annoyed that sierra is prettier than her, always gets the boys and has more friends than her. sierra kissed taylor’s crush, and stole the boy they both met online. sierra meets up with the boy they both met online and taylor gets annoyed and refuses to go with her, so sierra goes by herself and doesn’t return home. Taylor feels bad and decides to keep the bad news to herself for a while. Its been 3 days and taylor decides to tell her mum what has happened. the police gets involved and search for sierra and possibly the online murderer.

  8. I really enjoyed reading this book because it is filled with mystery and romance. Every page hooks you in even more and makes you more interested about what is going to happen next. It is all about cyber safety and being careful about what you say and do online. These two girls, Taylor and Sierra have been best friends since they were babies and they did everything together. Sierra always got what she wanted, one day she goes to meet a guy from a place in Melbourne who they both met online. Sierra really enjoys her time there and decides to stay there one night instead of going back to Taylor’s house. She never came back the next day like she said she would. Two, three days pass and still no sign of Sierra. Taylor tells Sierras Mum that she is missing and then everyone is looking for her. One day Taylor’s Mum came back from work and told her that the guy who Sierra had been with had killed her and left her in Ballarat. This caused grief to everyone who knew her. My favourite character is Taylor, because she is brave and even started up a website about Sierra so people can remember her. My least favourite part of the book is when they find out what happened to Sierra, how she was killed. I would change the part where Taylor wait ed a few days to tell her Mum and Sierras, because if she told them earlier, maybe Sierra would nit have died. I would recommend this book to people who are 13+ because it can get a little scary for younger people. People who are interested in mystery and thrill would enjoy this book.

  9. Taylor and Sierra have been best friends all their lives, but Sierra doesn’t seem to notice when she hurts her friends, and has a knack for getting people to cover for her when she’s off causing trouble and having fun. So when Sierra meets a guy on Mysterychat and plans to meet, Taylor is annoyed, Sierra always gets what she wants and there is know way she can stop Sierra anyhow. When the ‘Big Friday’ comes Sierra skips happily of to the bus station, awaiting to meet her soulmate, whilst Taylor and their group of friends spend time together after school. When Sierra calls Taylor, asking her to cover for her because she wants to spend the night with the so called Jacob Jones, Taylor gets upset as this is yet another time she has caused stressed for her friends, but Sierra promises to be back in the morning. Sierra doesn’t show up all Saturday, or Sunday, and when two days turn to 3, Taylor knows somethings up.

A book inspired by true stories of online predators, it is a great read. Keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Mixed emotions, the shocking reality, these are the things you receive from reading the book Risk.
