The blog for books and movies

51dvlcrs0gl-_sy344_bo1204203200_When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.

Instead, Malala’s miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest nominee ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls’ education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.

I AM MALALA will make you believe in the power of one person’s voice to inspire change in the world.

“I am Malala” is an amazing inspirational book that follows the story of an amazing girl who strongly believed in women right and that girls should be able to go to school. this lead her to be shot by the the taliban who were a group of extremest that believed that girls shouldn’t have rights. i love this story because it is very motivational and makes you feel that girls have rights too, and without here people in Afghanistan wouldn’t be able to go to school. i highly recommend this book because it will change the way you think about how lucky we are.

This story was really inspiring and sad. This book is based on a sad true story. I can’t believe the way girls are treated around the world but i am so proud and inspired because of the way Malala showed her determination to succeed in allowing girls to be educated. i would definitely rate this book a 10/10. i would definitely recommend everyone to read this powerful and inspiring book.

  4. This is the story of a brave girl that’s name will live on forever and should so too. In times of severe control by the Taliban, Malala shows that nothing can dull her fire because it is too hot. It is inspiring to all young women as she fights for what she believes in no matter the risk. I read this amazing book last year and when i was finished i was totally inspired!! this book made me feel so lucky to live in such a safe country where i have rights as a female, and rights to use my voice and speak up about what i believe, and that i also have the chance to become anything i want.
this book was written so well and really left you sobbing! a total MUST READ!!!

  5. ‘I am Malala’ is the story of a teenage girl. Malala Yousafzai, a young girl with a vision in mind. She is a twenty-year-old who raises her voice and gives her opinions on equality and female education. She went from having a regular life to experiences traumatic and devastating life-changing experiences. Afterwards, with determination, power, and resilience she was able to recuperate and gain her spiritual voice back. Her strength and incredible capabilities also lead her to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and the Glamour Award for Girls’ Hero. Considering the fact that the average age of people who are notated for the Nobel Peace Prize is around sixty years of age yet Malala was given the unbelievable award at the of seventeen. This book and the film are definitely things that need to be read and watched. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves reading about people who are making a difference in the world.

  6. ‘I am Malala’ is the story of the well known teenager from Pakistan who stood up for the rights of an education, Malala Yousafzai. She is an incredibly brave young girl wo was brought up to see good in all things, in spite of what happened in her life. Schools were blown up and people were given many death threats if they wanted an education. Christina Lamb and Malala wrote this book to highlight some of the major events that took place during this time of Malala’s life. After she was shot in the left side of her head coming home from school by a member of the Taliban, Malala was rushed to hospital in Birmingham, England. Today she continues her work as an activist for women’s rights and education. I recommend reading this book for a non-fictional read that will inspire you and give an insight on what Malala has experienced.

  7. I really liked ‘I am Malala’ because it was a true story about a girl who fought for her education. My favourite part was the end because Malala, the main character, settled down and decided she would speak out for other girls without an education. Malala was my favourite character because she was so strong and never gave up. Even though she knew it was dangerous to speak up she did it anyway for the better of herself, her friends and girls all around the world. My least favourite part of the book was the start because I didn’t like the way girls were treated in Pakistan and the way everyone was filled with fear all the time. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to read something inspirational.

  8. “I am Malala” is an amazing novel, which gives us an insight into the adversities faced by those in war torn countries. It’s also absolutely remarkable that a girl not much older than I could face such adversities and come out strong enough to help all the young women around her get an education and stand up to those who persecute them. Malala’s evocation of place, beautifully and lovingly described, and her letter to her father with his own passion for education giving thanks to him, is fascinating. I felt both humbled and inspired by I am Malala and believe that the more people that become aware of these stories, the more likely they will take a stand. Eye-opening events can help change the world and make it a better place for everyone. She deserves every single accolade she gets and more and I pray her stamp on the world makes a real difference.

  9. i really enjoyed this book, it was very hard to read because of the horrible adversity she was faced with but it made me understand the hardships people go through but still manage to become an inspiration for humans and in particular women. She has made an incredible difference to womens rights and it inspires me to make a difference also. I rate this book 8/10

  10. I would like to recommend the book ‘I AM MALALA’
It is not only heart-warming and courageous but also inspirational and the book shines a light on they women are still being treated roughly in some cultures.
I AM MALALA is about Malala Yousafzai who in 2012 was shot in the head by a gunman. She is well known around the world for standing up for the rights of women and girls education. She then wrote a book about herself and what she believed in. The book is all about her education, religion, beliefs (not only her religious beliefs but what she though was right and just), her accident and everything that happened afterwards.

Since then, Malala has gone onto win a Nobel Peace Prize. This shows how passionate and determined she is.

I AM MALALA is one of the strongest books I have ever read. So powerful and innocent.
I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone. 8/10

  11. This is the story of a brave girl that’s name will live on forever and should so too. In times of severe control by the notorious Taliban, Malala shows that nothing can dull her fire because it is too hot. It is inspiring to all young women as she fights for what she believes in no matter the risk. It is amazing that she is fighting for something that we take for granted which is education and freedom and taking her case around the world to try and help her people. This novel is a great read for anyone and everyone, however those who like to be able to look at the world from a different point of view or have a love for social justice will love this story. This story in inspirational not only for women, however for anyone that feels that they cannot do something. Malala shows that we can do anything we set our mind to. This is one of the best stories ever.

  12. I am Malala is the incredible story of a teenager who was shot by the Taliban for campaigning for the rights of education. When the Taliban took over Swat (in Pakistan) and closed down schools, Malala and her father could not be silenced. When she was riding home in a bus on a day in the middle of exams the Taliban shot 3 bullets at point-blank range at her. One of these bullets went in next to her left-eye socket and out her left shoulder. She almost lost her life and she would’ve if two UK doctors hadn’t been close by. This is the incredible story of Malala and her family through their incredible and very inspiring journey of trying to save the education of young people internationally. I think that this is the world’s most inspiring book, and that Malala is the world’s most inspiring person. I would recommend this book to people interested in education, campaigning for it, the Taliban, autobiographies and inspirational stories.

  13. i am truly inspired by this novel “I am Malala” it is an insightful book of a young girl who stood up for not only herself but many others and did risk her life in order for her voice to be heard. Her story of survival has triggered many other people in similar situtions to stand up for what they believe in. Malala is such an inspiring and motivational person who stood up for what she wanted no matter what the personal cost. This book is great for girls at SHC because it really shows all the social justice values we study in R.E. I really enjoyed this read and rate it 8/10

  14. “I am Malala” is a very inspirational and insightful book into the life of someone growing up in a disadvantaged country. Her story of survival and courage encourages everyone to work for peace and equality in the world, especially equality in education. Malala Yousafzai is such a wonderful person, and her values should be universal. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in social justice or who wants to learn about another culture and way of life. It made me feel so lucky to live in such a fortunate country, and gave me an even greater want for world peace and universal education.
