The blog for books and movies

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her…

But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

Comments on: "Bloodlines series – Richelle Mead" (1)

  1. FIERY HEART, SILVER SHADOWS AND THE RUBY CIRCLE BY RICHELLE MEAD are the last 3 books on the Bloodlines series. I got attached to these books and its going to be hard to let go!!! Let me start at our beloved Sydney Sage (insert new last name ____ ,, SORRY NO SPOILERS I FORGOT). Sydney is a very strong female character. Normally, people think of strong characters as those who can fight well and kick butt (which is great) but a strong character is so much more than that. A strong character shows resilience when things don’t go the right way. They use their voice as their spirit and mind and soul as their purpose. And they continue to inspire those who need uplifting, as well lifting themselves up to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be. Sydney Sage is the hero we didn’t think we needed but DESERVED. Every time someone was about to hurt Sydney I was ready to FIGHT, not even kidding. Even though I knew she could handle whatever was thrown at her, I still got a bit mad when someone downgraded her to some dumb blonde stereotype. Sydney Sage is a smart, beautiful, strong, brave, WIZARD. Literally every time a magic part with her came up i was literally so excited telling myself “This is her – the all mighty AVATAR. LONG AGO THE FOUR NATIONS LIVED TOGETHER IN HARMONY, TILL THE FIRE NATION ATTACKED” I’m not even joking I think of Sydney as the new avatar, bending all four elements. I think that Sydney’s relationship with Adrian went to a whole other level. I mean as much as I ADORE Sydney, her love life level was at 0 at the start of the series. But all of a sudden after Fiery Heart it wENT FROM 0-100 REAL QUICK. Remember when Sydney was confused when someone would ask her out on a date? Remember when she kissed that really boring stale white bread dude? Yeah, me neither. WELCOME NEW SYDNEY. Adrian has officially turned this sweet cinnamon roll into a rebel. I knew that something terrible was going to happen to Adrian and Sydney because they were just tOO HAPPY. NO AUTHORS LIKE THEIR CHARACTERS BEING HAPPY FOR FOR TOO LONG. Zoe is a pain in my backside and what she did was seen from a mile away but that doesn’t make me less mad. What makes me more mad was the faCT THAT SYDNEY FORGAVE ZOE FOR WHAT SHE DID (insert excessive and uanessacry amount of question marks). I MEAN, IF I WERE IN SYDNEY’S PLACE I WOULD’VE AT LEAST LET THE GIRL STEP ON A LEGO TO FEEL PAIN. BUT NOPE, SHE JUST FORGAVE HER WITH NO REAL CLOSURE WHAT THE HECK. I think that The Ruby Circle felt a bit rushed and it had sooooo much potential. I feel like Richelle Mead decided to add too many characters and have too many relationships without fully exposing them to the plot line. That’s why the last book got crowded and everything felt out of the place at times. And Nina, the spirit user, was also very annoying. Throughout the whole of Silver Shadows we KNOW she’s interested in Adrian, but Adrian doesn’t know she likes Adrian which mAKES LIFE SO FRUSTRATING GODAMMIT ADRIAN. But overall this series shall be missed and it’ll take time for me to get over Sydney Sage. I think Bloodlines was better series than Vampire Academy and it was so much more mature and had strong plot lines. I do intact prefer Sydney (of course) over Rose, only because I could relate more. I hope Richelle Mead writes another spin off series!!!!!
