The blog for books and movies

The brilliant, breathtaking conclusion to J.K. Rowling’s spellbinding series is not for the faint of heart-such revelations, battles, and betrayals await in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that no fan will make it to the end unscathed.
The heart of Book 7 is a hero’s mission-not just in Harry’s quest for the Horcruxes, but in his journey from boy to man-and Harry faces more danger than that found in all six books combined, from the direct threat of the Death Eaters and you-know-who, to the subtle perils of losing faith in himself. Attentive readers would do well to remember Dumbledore’s warning about making the choice between “what is right and what is easy,” and know that Rowling applies the same difficult principle to the conclusion of her series. While fans will find the answers to hotly speculated questions about Dumbledore, Snape, and you-know-who, it is a testament to Rowling’s skill as a storyteller that even the most astute and careful reader will be taken by surprise.

A spectacular finish to a phenomenal series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a bittersweet read for fans. The journey is hard, filled with events both tragic and triumphant, the battlefield littered with the bodies of the dearest and despised, but the final chapter is as brilliant and blinding as a phoenix’s flame, and fans and skeptics alike will emerge from the confines of the story with full but heavy hearts, giddy and grateful for the experience.

  1. This was such an amazing book to end an even more amazing series. I just can’t believe they are all over but I would definitely be recommending this book to anyone. I really love Ginny and Harry as a couple and was relieved when Hermione and Ron finally got together, I mean it was bound to happen. I enjoyed the mystery and investigation of finding all the Horcruxes (what Voldemort split his soul into) and all of the unexpected events. I actually have some sympathy towards Snape dying, I always despised the way he treated his students and couldn’t handle his attitude, but when he died it hit me harder than I thought. Overall I just wish there was more and rate this book a 10/10.

  2. The deathly hallows is an intriguing ending to the harry potter series, and it is personally my favourite out of all of them. It takes you on a journey with Harry and his friends, on a quest to find all of Voldermorts horcruxexes. This year they don’t go to Hogwarts, due to the quest, while they are away Snape terrorises the school and so do the new death eater teaches. 10/10 for me. This book is amazing!!!

  3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the most amazing end to Harrys legendary fight with Lord Voldemort. In this book Harry continues to be alongside Ron and Hermionie his best friends since the Hogwarts express rolled in to Hogwarts in his first year. There fights at the start between the 3 of them and their was fights at the end between the three of them. But no matter how angry they were at each other they were always there when things got a bit sticky or scary. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry, Ron and Hermionie have dropped out of Hogwarts seeing as Dumbledore is no longer headmaster because he was killed by Snape. And seeing as Harry is undesirable number 1 and has a big price on his forehead there was no possibility for Harry to go back to the castle he loved most of all. Harry, Ron and Hermionie do the craziest things as they go forth with their battle to destroy all the horcruxes. Breaking into Gringotts, going to Godricks Hollow and then finally facing Voldemort at The battle of Hogwarts. This book is so captivating that you wont want to put it down. An amazing end to the magical journey. I give this book a 10 out of 10 being 10000x better than the movies!

  4. I think that this is the best and most well written book of the series in my opinion. I enjoyed this, although there were some shocks, scares and sadness. I thought that it was a great way to finish a great series, although I feel that the ending was too predictable. Other than that a top notch book!

  5. Harry Potter and the deathly hallows is my one of my favourite book by J.K Rowlings. My favourite part was when Harry Potter has to try and defeat the deathly Hallows because it is really intense. My favourite character is bellatrix lestrange because I love picturing her in my head looking as if she is a evil which because of all the horrible things she did. I would change the battle of Hogwards because I couldn’t really picture it in my head and it didn’t make sense to me until I watched the movie. I would recommend this book to Harry potter fans and anyone who likes mythical stories. I would rate this book a 6/10.

  7. The end to the Harry Potter series of both the books and movies was easily the best conclusion J.K Rowling and the directors could put together. Although no one wanted the Harry Potter story to end, they made sure the ending left the memory of Potter and the characters remembered forever. I’m very happy that they put the book into two movies, because it was quite lengthy and descriptive but they did their best. If I could change anything about the book I would make it a ti-series to fully describe and explain the happenings in the Deathly Hallows. Harry (the main character) comes across his hardest obstacle hidden from him throughout his whole life at Hogwarts. It was also his most challenging journey filled with hardship and the most events. Such as finding all the Horcruxes, making him search for the Deathly Hallows as well. Hermione and Ron become my favourite characters in this book, they stay with Harry even through the part where he doesn’t act like himself. My favourite part of the book is the battle at the end. But it’s also my least favourite because it puts an end to my favourite story. I liked how they didn’t just make the war against Harry and Voldemort but all of Hogwarts (good) v Bad (Voldemort’s army). ! I I give this last book a 10/10, they ended it the best way they possibly could. There was excitement, love, hardship and inspiration all rolled into one. I will for certain read the series again later. Anyone can read this.

  8. This is the last book in the Harry Potters series and it is AMAZING! It leaves you hanging on until the very end and then even at the end there is a twist that will shock you.
First, Harry leaves Privet Drive for the last time and he goes to Ron’s place for a wedding. It is very hard to get Harry there in the first place. When the wedding is gatecrashed Harry, Ron and Hermione go alone to seek out their mission given to them by Dumbledore. On the way they learn more about themselves and they come to some hard times but is all leading up to the final battle at Hogwarts. Harry must first learn the final puzzle piece that will decide his future. There is a lot of sacrifices and love and even at the end you learn something amazing about the characters.
It is an amazing story and one that will leave you thinking about it weeks after you have finished it. The story flows together so well it will confuse you at first but then you will be amazed at how clever the story really is. The very first story has clues in it that will help with the final answer and the final answer will surprise you, but you wouldn’t want it any other way.
At the ned of the book it gives you a snap shot of what the wizarding world now looks like and it will put a smile on your face.
If you haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books then you are insane! I can’t think of anything better than reading the Deathly Hallows with a nice hot chocolate. I rate this book 11/10!! A must read for all ages.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the last book in the Harry Potter series. In the Deathly Hallows Harry, Ron and Hermione are hunting Horcruxes, parts of Voldemort’s soul. They do not go to Hogwarts, instead they travel the country in search of these key objects that could destroy Voldemort forever. Hermione and Ron always have Harry’s back, which is os inspirational, since Harry is Harry Potter, The Chosen Oe. This book id full of mystery, chances, magic and of course, friendship. The golden trio come closer than ever in this book and all in lead up to the final battle of Hogwarts (R.I.P Fred Weasley). My favourite part of the book is in the lead up to Bill and Fleur’s wedding, with all the preparation at the burrow, even though the wedding doesn’t turn out that great. I feel so sorry for Harry, he has been through so much, and nothing he ever does ever pays off in his favour. I think the story has a great story line, even though it is not based at Hogwarts, J.K Rowling did an amazing job, not just in this book, but throughout the whole series. She would have to be one of a my favourite authors. My favourite characters in this book would still have to be Ron and Hermione. Both of them are courageous and inspiring to me. Hermione has such a strong personality and is so caring and kind to everyone she crosses paths with. Ron, because he speaks his mind, even if he is wrong, I still admire him for it. I would rate this book 10 out of 10. It is full of magic, laughs and danger. I was so sad for this amazing story to end. Upon finishing this series I felt like I had lost a friend.

The last Harry Potter book and movie are perfect! I am so glad that they put the book into two movies but I honestly think that if they want to give full justice to the movie they would need about 10 different movies for the one book. Harry faces his hardest and most eventful journey of finding Horcruxes which end up being a search for the Deathly Hallows as well, hence the book title. I love how Hermione and Ron stick with Harry even through the hardest part of his life and are always by his side and always looking out for him. My favourite part of the book is the end battle. The horror of all those people dying mixed with the final battle between Harry and Voldemort really kept me reading and I wouldn’t have put the book down if you payed me. MY favourite character would HAVE to be Harry! He has been through so much and he never gave in, not when the whole wizard world hated him, not when Voldemort was at his most powerful or even when he gave up himself to save all those who were fighting for him. I defiantly rate this book a 10/10, it was so thrilling and I seriously didn’t want to put it down. I will defiantly reread this series into the future! I loved it!

This book and the whole entire Harry Potter series is my favourite series EVER and will forever be the most creative, imaginative, seemingly real book that I will ever read. It was extremely sad when the series ended, however it was a fantastic book and will always remain in readers’ hearts and minds. In the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron and Hermione adventure yet again on a quest to kill Voldermort for good. It is a thrilling adventure full of nerve racking moments and exhilarating successes; I literally couldn’t put this book down! My favourite scene is close to the very end of the book, when Voldermort and Harry are facing each other and about to duel. It is so tense and seems so real! J. K. Rowling describes the situation so well it’s as if you’re standing there with Harry, staring into Voldermort’s cold, red eyes. I also love the very end of the book, however if you want to find out what happens you’ll have to read the book for yourself ! It’s worth it! Overall, I think all three main characters are my favourite characters, because they all have such interesting, quirky personalities and play such major roles throughout the whole book. Snape is also one of my favourite characters; for the entire series he seems evil and cunning however he is actually really kind, loving, caring, brave and courageous. I can’t praise this book enough! Everyone and anyone should read this book! I would give it 11/10!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.Where do I begin? The final adventure for Harry. It is either loosing or wining for Harry and Voldemort. There is a massive fight between The death eaters and the student and teachers at Hogwarts. There is a lot of deaths in this book and is very heart breaking, but t the end, you can not help smiling. This book is hard to put down, so make sure you have lots of time for it! I rate this book a 10/10. I recommend it for10+ because it can be a bit graphic and the language a bit hard to understand. 🙂

  18. Such an amazing book! People, you should read this! This book is amazing for many, many reasons, because its heart-wrenching, its exciting, its nerve-wracking, its just many, many amazing things, that J.K Rowling has included in this book! My favourite part in the book, was the battle scene, towards the end of the book, and this was because, it was very intense, and this intensity in this book, is what makes you read on, and think ‘O.M.G, what is going to happen next?’ My favourite character in the book, would have to be Ron, as he has a feisty side to him, but he also has a sweet sensitive side, but just all round Ron is a character you gotta love. I can never fault this book, but the one thing I didn’t like about this book was when Dobby died. When reading that part of the book, I got so overwhelmed, I started to cry. I just wish this didn’t have to happen, to someone so kind and generous, and a character, who everyone loved. Recommendations: TOTALLY, this book is amazing, anyone of my friends who have read it, said the have absolutely loved it! Just a heads up, read the other books in the series before you read this one, as you won’t understand the story line. I recommend this book to anyone 11 and up. I rate this book, and 10/10! 😀

My favourite character is Ron, because he is funny, kind, sweet and has awesome hair! I also love Fred and George because they are HILARIOUS! They have been very funny throughout the whole Harry Potter series. I think J.K Rowling has written an exciting series that will always be famous and well known. My favourite part in the book would have to be when harry, ron and hermione all change bodies with three other people who work in the ministry of magic. It’s really funny when ron kisses his pretend characters wife. The look on Hermione’s face is hilarious. I recommend this book to everyone because everyone would enjoy reading this book. You probably would have to have read all the other books from the series to understand this one. I rate it 10/10 because it is such an exciting book! Read it if you can.

I love Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because it is the last book in this amazing series. This would be one of my favourite books in the series but it also it would be one of my least favourite books . My least favourite because it is the last book!! and I known that there will be no 8th book. It is one of my favourite books because it all comes down to the final battle between Harry and Voldemort. When I read this book I felt happy and excited and wanting to keep on reading the next I felt sad and upset . It is still a great book and you will love it from start to finish, I do not known who my favourite character or part in the book because I like so many characters and parts! I would rate this book an 9.9 out of ten. I love the book so much and it is a great book to read. I would recommend this book ages 11 and up.

At the start of the series he was pretty shy and got bullied a lot. But at the end he was courageous and stepped up to help Harry. I love it because it was the most amazing way to end such an awesome series of books and I think that if you’re a Harry Potter fan you will love it even if you’ve read it already. I was really sad to see Dobby go but I guess it made it more dramatic. Some of the chapters are a bit weird in the way the J.K. Rowling has written them but it is by far the best book in the series. I loved Harry Potter and the deathly hallows because this is the final book where Harry gets his revenge on Voldermoart. I found it to be a very compelling, romantic and exciting book. I don’t have a favourite part of the book but one of parts I liked was the part where Ron kisses Hermione. I found it very romantic and exciting at the same time. My favourite character would have to be Harry because he is very brave and is always putting his friends first. My least favourite part of the book was when Harry found out that he was a horcrux and he had to die. I found it very sad and surprising at the same time. If I could change anything in the book I would change the part when Dobbie the elf dies because I thought he was always so very loyal and protective of Harry. I give this book ten stars out of ten I would recommend this book to people who like exciting, thrilling and emotional stories.

this is a fantastic conclusion to the amazing Harry Potter series! Joanne Rowling is the most talented writer ever, the way she just makes you feel like your actually in the book while everything’s happening is phenomenal!
So in this book, Harry sets out to find and conquer his destiny with the help of his best friends Ron and Hermione. While being hopelessly in love with Ginny Weasley, (Ron’s little sister), he finds out and realises many things about Dumbledore, Tom Riddle, his friends and above all himself. He does things he never thought he would and saves lives he never thought he would save. He realises where his true loyalties lie in Ginny, and later on you find out whether they stay together until the end or not! This book is a fantastic read and I must say, DEFINITELY wins the debate over whether Harry Potter is better than Twilight! 🙂

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the concluding book in J.K. Rowling’s epic saga. This book explores the two main themes of death and living in a corrupted society, as it follows on from the events in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, ending with Harry and Voldemort’s final confrontation; a wizarding duel to the death. This book sums up all the questions the die-hard Potter fans have wondered about for ten years. As the series went on it has begun to appeal to the adult audience as well as the young fans, similar to Alice and Wonderland and Huckleberry Finn, and the language also has improved and matured. J.K. Rowling has achieved so much from one idea, and she is now being recognised as one of the best authors of all time. The end of this book, sadly brought the end to a series that was loved and treasured by millions. I really think everyone should read this book as it is a true gem, well written and eventful!

This book is one of m favorites because it includes adventure, romance and it is also a bit scary. My favourite part in the novel definitely has to be the big fight scene. I love this part because good and evil are getting ready to battle it out to see who wins. My favourite character is obviously Harry Potter. This is because not only has his parents been killed by the ‘Dark Lord’ himself but he is constantly followed by the scary thought that he is never safe from the ‘Dark Lord’. I think that the most suitable for any competent readers who are up for a little adventure. This book had me hooked from the first page to the last and I stuck by Harry all the way.

  40. AMAZING! This is the final and seventh book in the Harry Potter series, written by J.K.Rowling. It is full of surprises, scary moments, funny moments and sad moments. It is sad with the amount of deaths in this book (including Dobby! D’:). It is a terrific way to end the series, but also a little depressing because it is the ending of a cherished childhood story. It has all of your favourite Harry Potter characters and spells and has a great ending with ’19 Years Later’. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, it isn’t a very good idea to read this book because it will be pretty confusing and won’t make sense. If you enjoyed the Harry Potter 1,2,3,4,5 and 6, then you will LOVE this! I give it 5 stars because it is the best book ever!!!!!!!! ;D

I really love the character Voldemort, probably for the wrong reasons. He’s a bald mass murderer who needs a nose job. And a manicure. I find that hilarious. However, he is also a character that brings fear into the hearts of all who read about him. That’s another reason why I like him.

I am not much of a reader but this book had me fighting with myself to put it down. I loved everything about the book, the suspense, the thrill, the happy moments and the sad. Of course, I have always been fond of the the famous trio, Harry, Ron and Hermoine but this time I adored Snape, we find out so many things about him and can really see he is a good man not the horrible, cold man that we were all lead to belief he was. This book took me on a roller coaster, I found myself smiling in the happy moments and on the verge of tears with the death of the many beloved characters. I would reccomend this book to everyone but I do think that anyone below the age of 12 would not enjoy the book because of the use of language and style of writing 🙂

I absolutely adore Harry Potter and this book really finished off the series nicely. The end of the book really hooked me in, all the action was great and the ending was terrific. J.K. Rowling is a really great writer and the different chapters and paragraphs moved fluently into the next. The descriptions of the people, places and events were excellent and it really helps the reader to feel involved. The movie was also excellent (Part 1, that is) and I can’t wait for the next installment. The only negative is that this was the last book. What am I supposed to read now?

  46. I loved this book, it was full of drama, adventure and excitement. My favourite part of it was the ending where everything from the whole series made sense, it was like a light bulb moment. My favourite character was Harry Potter because he is the main character. I can’t relate to anybody in this book as it is all magical! I don’t have a least favourite part of the book but I did find the start of the book a bit boring. I wouldn’t change anything in the book because I would be worried I would wreck the storyline and mysteries. I would recommend this book to anybody.

OMG! it just keeps getting better doesn’t it!!! i loved it so much! Although people say ‘oh i cant read it its way to big for me to read’ Its one of those books that you start reading and end up reading until 12:00 at night because you just CAN’T put it down. Every minute something magical is happening. I love how with a wave of their wand they can make anything appear. The last book is a breath taking story of Harry, Ron and Hermione’s journey to find Voldermort’s horcroxes. It very descriptive and its one of those books that you can imagine what is happening with every word. My favourite character would have to be Ron because he is really funny. I love this book sooooo much and if you haven’t read it you ARE missing out!!! 🙂 i rate this book 10/10! read it now!!! 🙂

  51. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was such a great movie. I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10 and I would definitely watch it again. I thought it was a great way to nearly finish the series and I thought the way they directed it was clever. I would recommend this book to anyone that isn’t scared of snakes that pop out from no where.

  52. Where do I start, I L-o-v-e-d every single little thing about this book. There are so many genres in one the main genre being magic and fantasy. I have read this book so many times. Each time I get something more out of it whether its a sentence I missed out when excitedly reading too fast, or a deeper meaning that I discovered when I thought more about it. Harry Ron and Hermione’s quest to bring Voldemort back down to Mortal standard is an exciting thrilling journey. My Favourite part is when they break into Gringotts ( the wizarding bank) and escape. Not a page is boring and ANYBODY who has not read this book should definatly read it.
I cannot rate it because it is beyond the scale of 10:):):):):):):):):):)

  55. Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, the last book. WOW! what a thriller! It captures you and you feel as if your right there in the midst. It is sooo good and is equal favourite! The first time I read it I was sooo excited and was out of my seat. I have now watched it 10 times I can’t get rid of it. Its an absolute thriller and in this book and movie my favourite characters would have to be hermione, harry and of course ron They are so brave and I love how there friencships are so strong. I love how they have to find all the horcruxes because it just adds that tad more excitement to it. My favourite part is when they sneak into the ministry of magic because you feel like somethings going to happen and its so exciting you have no idea whats going to happen. My least favourite part though is when Mad moody dies because I thought he was really cool and I really liked him. Sometimes he could be bossy but just the helpfulness he brought to harry was so nice. I can’t wait to see the movie and I love this book so much, I rate it 10/10!

  56. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow is the best book I have every read there is always something exciting and dangerous going on. I could not find one part of the book that was the tinniest bit boring I enjoyed all of it. This book is a lot more scary and violent then the other Harry is now a young man not a child and the world is depending on him to save him. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure, magic, fantasy, romance or excitement but unfortunately it is also sad because loved ones die. You will never know what will happen next in the book and that is what I love about it.

  58. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is probably my favourite book of all time! It is my most loved out of the collection of wonderful books by J.K.Rowling because it has a terrific storyline and even better end to the series. The movie is coming out in two parts soon, which I think is great because if they had only one movie they would miss out on parts of the book, like the other movies do, whereas if you two movies, you get all the information. It is a bit of a complicated book, but by the time you’ve finished the final pages of this fantastic book, you’ll understand and love everything about it. I recommend it for people aged 8 and up. Everyone that I know who have read the books have loved them. Five stars without a doubt!

My favourite characters are of course Harry, Ronad and Hermione there friendship and what they have been through together is unbreakable. I wish the series would just keep going because the are so incredibley addictive I have read them so many times! I think if Rowling was to write another one she should write it about Harrys life with Giny and there children Albus, James and Lily aswell as Raonald and Hermiones life with Rose and Hugo. Everyone and nyone should read this series it is truly amazing I LOVE IT:)

  60. I LOVE the Harry Potter series!!!!
They are the best books this world has ever seen!!!
Now that Ron, Harry and Hermione have left Hogwarts, they are faced with the terrifying prospect of defeating Voldemort. In this book, Harry, Ron and Hermione learn things about themselves, as they undertake the epic journey along the road to finishing Voldemort. Along this journey, they become closer, as they realise how much they mean to each other, and relationships start to blossom between the characters.
If I could change anything about this book, the only thing I would change is the fact that the series is finished! I REALLY REALLY want Joanne Rowling to keep writing!
I would also change the fact Fred Weasley died. It was a good, unexpected twist, but still. Fred, George, Ginny and Hermione are my favourite characters.
I think it was good how Harry and Ginny got married, they are perfect for each other.
I’ve read these books so many times, and they are still SO SO SO SO FUN to read! I will never get tired of them! you could ask me anything about them, and I would know it. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!!! It is the best ever!!!
It is a great book, I’d recommend this book to anyone!
P.S dont read the last chapter first, it doesn’t make sense. I tried it. (the 2nd time I read it)

My least favourite part in the book was at the end when the war began between ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’. Because alot of people died and a couple of my favourites died, Remus Lupin, Tonks and Fred or George Weasley. (Sorry I can’t remember.)
If I could change anything in the book I probably wouldn’t because I think J.K did a fantastic job with this book a I can’t wait till the movies come out!.
I recommend this book to anyone just as long as they’ve read the first 6 books and loved them!

My favourite bit of the book was when they went back to Hogwarts to save it and Harry saw all of his old friends, Luna, Neville and loads more people. Harry and Luna set out to the Ravenclaw common-room to find the sixth and final Horcrux and they find it after knocking out some teachers working at Hogwarts on Lord Voldemorts orders. And then The war begins…

  75. i got this book on a saturday exactly 23 minutes after it officially came out. i waited out the queue of people and the 4-o’clock-in the-morning-camper-outerers lying nice and warm in my bed. if you just wait a couple of minutes after the official opening, you dont have to camp out on the streets to be one of the first in line. when i went to get it, the book store was empty and there was no queue. but anyway, i love this book sooooo much that i read it in an hour and a half which is pretty quick for me. on the day that i got it i was “conveniently” sick (or faking, lol) so that i could sit down and read it uninterrupted. its awesome. but i hate how all the fav characters die. hedwig! no! but anyway. there were times when i laughed out loud and times that i (embarrassing) almost cried and i think i actually did. lol. but at the very end chapter, i couldn’t work out why it was 19 years later and not any other random number… is it because harry was 19 (i think) when he defeated voldermort????? confused!!

  76. I love this book! It is my favourite out of all of the books and a magnificent end to a fantastic series. Harry is out of Hogwarts and is now on a mission to find the rest of the Horcruxes – pieces of Voldemort’s soul – so that Harry can FINALLY destroy Voldemort. Hermione and Ron are with him too, of course, and together they go on a journey full of danger, romance (between Ron and Hermione and Ginny and Harry), adventure, action and drama. I love the 18 years later… part at the end, where we get to see what our three heroes have been up to and how their future turned out like. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has EVERYTHING you’d want in a book and I highly recommend it to everyone. 5/5 stars.
