  1. Watching this movie definitely cleared up images in my head after reading the book. This movie was sad and very emotional. It is set in world war 1 and tells us the story about how the jews lived there lives. My favourite character was Bruno because he reminds me of the way i used to act when i was little. I was naive and always wondering what was going on around me. This movie was emotional but taught me a lot about how the jews used to live. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a sad movie. I rate this movie a 8/10!

I really like this movie, it was sad but told a story that touched everyone about what it was like back then. It tells us about how the jew’s were caught and then killed just for being Jews. I really liked how two boys one from each side met and then a friendship grew, into what would hurt themselves and there loved ones. I think the movie is better then the book because it shows in greater detail about what had happened. The book was harder to pick up and get an image of what was actually happening. I would recommend this movie to everyone that loves a little sad movie and wants to learn about what happened to the Jews. 10/10

  3. Every time I watch this movie, I find myself in tears by the end! The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is an eye opening movie, and really showcases the challenges people faced when they were influenced by Hitler. There are some extremely graphic scenes throughout the movie, therefore I wouldn’t recommend it to people under the age of 12. Overall, I absolutely loved this movie, and would definitely watch it again! 10/10!

  4. This was a good movie, I got so many sad emotions. It really showed how people didn’t respect the Jewish and it taught me so many things. I think it made me wake up to see how lucky we all are. The movie’s main characters were Bruno and Shmuel, they were such different character and yet they got along very well. There are some parts of the movie that get a bit violent and make you want to walk away. Some parts of the movie I did find a bit boring, it was sort of dragged on for a while until it got to the point, but overall I would rate it about 8/10.

This is a lovely movie. This is a story about true friendship of two little kids and it teaches us that friendship is innocent and is based on trust. The film is based on the time where Hitler used to kill Jews. This movie follows the friendship between the german kid and the jewish kid. The plot of the movie is strong and always keeps the watchers in its grip. Overall, a very good movie to watch with your true friends or your loved ones on weekends. It was interesting to watch it for school as well. I rate it 7/10.

  7. During Year 8, we are required to read the amazing book: Boy in the Striped Pajamas, which is based on an adventurous, young boy named Bruno who is forced to move from his beautiful home in Berlin to an ugly and depressing home near the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Bruno and his family move there due to his Father’s new job. Bruno does not enjoy their new home and tries to find something to do whilst at this strange and boring place. One day, he finds himself on his side of a fence in which people dressed in striped pajamas are placed on the other side. He becomes friendly with a boy his age named Shmuel. Without spoiling anything else, I really enjoyed this book and definitely shed a few tears. It is based in the eyes of Bruno and his confusion of the world around him and the innocence in which he possesses. It is a beautiful book, and for me to not spoil anything I mustn’t say what I’d like to change in the book, but maybe if the whole Holocaust never happened this tragic and touching book would have never been written! (not that I didn’t enjoy it, it really is just terribly sad!) But of course the introduction of Shmuel and Bruno’s relationship is a lovely part of the book. Of course I cannot relate to any of the characters, but I can try to imagine what it would be like in all of the characters positions and all of them play significant roles in the story. A beautiful and extraordinary book in which is almost meant for children, although it is much too dense and mature for a child to understand so I would say anyone over the age of maybe 11-12 should definitely read this book because it is really, really good. The movie is just as amazing, if not better! 10/10!

  8. Firstly I would recommend this to everyone. It is important to be a little educated before watching it because some of the content is a little heavy and needs to be understood completely. It’s so upsetting and makes you realise how harsh this time was. My favourite part would be the ending because it is so sad and I cried a lot. Overall the movie had some happy moments but still was so heartbreaking that something like this happened to such a young boy. Book is just as good!

  9. This movie is definitely very sad. Set in World War 2 this movie is about a little boy called Bruno and his German family. When his dad gets a promotion to become a head soldier of the Natzi concentration camp called Aushwitz Bruno and his family move to Aushwitz and here, Bruno does some exploring which results in some unusual findings. his movie can be quite gruesome and confronting at times so if you are not into that sort of stuff than its probably not the best movie for you. This movie demonstrates a beautiful friendship that is formed in the lowest and toughest times. I would give this movie a 9/10 and i definitely recommend this to someone who likes a sad movie.

  10. This film is a film based on a real life story. The little boy named Bruno didn’t know that the people on the other side of the fence were there for a reason and were court. The part which I don’t like is when Bruno takes his normal clothes off and the other boy hands him the clothing they wear on that side of the fence he climbs under and didn’t realise how dangerous that place was. The part really makes me want to cry. I would recommend this movie to people that like heart touching movies that are based on real life stories. I would rate this movie a 8.5/10

I read this book and watch the movie for school and I actually surprisingly really enjoyed it. Set during world war II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, an eight years old son who father is the commandant at a concentration camp. Bruno is forbidden a friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence. There friendship blossoms and this has startling and unexpected consequences. This is a heart tearing, holding your breath movie and I would rate it a 7.5/10 and would recommend it for people over the age of 14.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is such an eye opening book. it shows how much someone with a lot of power like Hitler can influence people into doing terrible things. The relationship between the jewish people and the German people. This movie is about a little Jewish boy on one side of the fence who’s family had been moved in to the camp controlled by Hitler who was aiming to kill all of the jewish people little did he know there was another little boy on the other side of the fence who had just moved from his brilliant house in Berlin to what he though was the most boring house in the world until he noticed all of the people in the striped pyjamas out his very own window. As the boys discover each other they build a very strong friendship outside the wishes of others. Neither of them really knew or cared about either of there status. The two boys were as best as friends as anyone has ever known. But as Hitler starts to kill all of the Jews the two boys find them selves in a bad situation. I cried so much in this movie it is so sad but such a great eye opener. I recommend it to anyone over the age of 12 and I give it a 10 out of 10. Just remember that they were together…

The Boy in Striped Pajama’s is an eye-opening book. Hitler was a huge influence throughout Europe, especially in Germany. I think Bruno’s actor was fantastic as he show cased how innocent and oblivious young Bruno was. At the very end, I balled my eyes out I was so upset, it is quite horrific and disturbing what the Jews went through although I am glad I learnt about it since we now we can avoid making the same problems again. Overall I rate this movie a 7/10, it was enjoyable and I would watch it again although it can be quite upsetting.

This movie was so sad and it nearly made me cry. I would give this movie a 8/10 because the dialog was amazing and the whole movie was about the war and not many people don’t want to read about the war but they want to watch a movie about the war and it shows what happened in the 1930s and the 1940s and how the war was back than.

  15. OMG this is probably one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. At first I thought that it wasn’t going to be sad but in the end I almost started to cry and I never cry in movies. It is so sad and I love the way it is being seen through an innocent eight year old’s eyes because it makes everything more like how we would see it and what it would have been like for them. I think the saddest part is at the very end … I won’t spoil it but it is sooooooooo sad. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone around my age and older. I love this movie and it is actually now one of my favourites. I am so happy because if it wasn’t for english I would never have seen this movie or even heard about or read the book probably ever. I give this movie a 10/10 because I love it so much.

This story is actually my favourite story in which I have ever raid and watched. This movie has depth and really makes you realise how cruel times were back then. I admire some of the characters and despise the others. I love Bruno, Shmuel and Pavel as well as mother but really don’t like Father, Hitler and all of the other cruel characters that do wrong to innocent people. I have re read and re watched this story so many times that I know it back to front and I loved writing an essay on it. I recommend this film and therefore rate it 10/10.

The base line of the movie is about hitler and when he reigned and slaughtered the jews one by one. 2 boys from 2 different world one day meet one behind the walls of the jew camp and one out of it. They soon become friends as they are young and don’t know what is happening in the “adult world.” You have to see the movie to believe some things but I definitely recommend you watching this along with some tissues!

  20. I preferred watching the film interpretation of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas much more than reading the novel. The movie was easier to watch which sounds a bit ridiculous since you would think it’d be way more confronting but it made the plot line less confusing and better to understand the references to the horrific schemes that went on in real times. There isn’t a lot to say about this film though. The cast portrayed their characters well and there was not too many differences from the original novel. I did end up crying a lot, even if what made me burst into tears was just implied. The scenery and setting was very realistic looking and the director and producers really did capture the essence of the novel in a film suitable for all ages – above 12 of course. I’d rate this film a seven out of ten because I really enjoyed watching it but it was the genre of film I like.

Hitler treated the concentrations camps horrible they didn’t respect them at all and that was just because they were Jews. I would recommend this movie for everyone who likes sad movies and love. I loved this movie , Although I almost cried I liked this movie because it had an unexpected ending and kept you holding on until the end. My favourite part was when the jewish boy and the other boy become friends and meet at the gate. This movie is great and I suggest that teens and older should watch it. My favourite part of this movie was when Bruno found Shmuel for the first time, he didn’t judge Shmuel for what he was.

  25. The boy in the striped pyjamas is a great movie to watch especially for people who enjoy learning about what ww2 was like. The think that I found sad about the boy in the striped pyjamas was that Bruno didn’t have any idea about what was happening and why he had moved to berlin. Bruno also had no idea why Shmuel was behind a fence and all. I really enjoyed this book and I rate it a 7.5/10.

I found that the boy in the striped pyjamas was very emotional, captivating and it is also a learning block to teach the fellow citizens of our modern era not to pick and choose a particular race but to accept everyone who may be different and move on because racism isn’t the way of what our world should be looking like. My favourite part of this movie was when Bruno found Shmuel for the first time, he didn’t judge Shmuel for what he was. My favourite character is Bruno because he is very adventurous and so am i, but not only that, he grew a certain hate for Hitler during the movie. I have read a lot of world war 1 books in my past but i have never fully seen someone being gassed. I would recommend this movie to viewers over the age of 13 because there is a bit of violence but i would rate this movie a definite 9/10.

I liked watching this movie but I think it could have been better. I thought it portrayed the characters well and it did a good job of showing what life was like during the second world war. It showed the bleakness of Bruno and Shmuel’s situations well and the main moral which was that friendship could survive through anything. When I watched the movie and it looked just as I imagined it would be like when I was reading the book but it didn’t have some of the scenes I thought were important in the book and it didn’t have nearly as much detail as the book did. It was a very sad movie, especially when Shmuel was beaten up and at the end, but I found it a little bit boring and watching it one time was enough. Even though. Although the movie was not excellent, it was ok and I would recommend it for people that don’t know much about the Holocaust and are studying the book.

I loved this movie. This movie really explores the terrible time of the Holocaust well. It made me aware of the terrible things those innocent people had to go through and how unfair it was.
My favourite part of the movie is when Bruno meets Shmuel for the first time. Many things must go through his head as he meets him for the first time. I love how their friendship grows strong throughout the movie and it makes me realise that you can truly be friends with anyone.
My favourite character is Bruno. He is so young and oblivious to whats really going on with the ‘People behind the fence’. In a way his innocence and makes me very sad, the fact he knew nothing when he talked to Shmuel, when he sneaked into the concentration camp, and when he stepped into that gas chamber.
When thinking about what I would like to change in the movie I first thought, when they all get gassed at the end. But I realised that this really happened and couldn’t have been left out. I would recommend this movie to people aged 13+.

I have read both the book and seen the movie and even though I must admit the book is better, the movie does a great job of telling the story. When I watch this movie it makes me want to go back in time and change the past, but I know I can only change the future. This movie is very educating for kids like me to learn about war and history. My favourite part in this book is when bruno starts to become friends with Shmuel and how they are too naive to care about their differences. My least favourite part is when bruno lies about ever knowing Shmuel and shmuel is then punished, this is horrible to see and makes me so sad to think that those things would have happened back in the Holocaust and that people could actually be so cruel to other human beings and couldn’t learn to see eye to eye. I could watch this movie over and over and still cry every time. I recommend this movie to anyone interested in history, sad stories or just someone looking for a good movie.

He and Bruno are such innoccent character, like preps who just started school, and I just can’t believe how cruel the soldiers were. It isn’t a book I would read over and over again, but it is a book worth reading. The only thing I would have to say would improve the book would be if the beginning, before Bruno and his family go away, was shorter, as I found it dragged on a little. It was a sad but well written book.

  56. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes war and peace. I find it really sad when Bruno lies about how Shmuel stole the sweet witch he really didn’t Bruno gave it to him. It is also sad how Bruno dresses up as a Jew like Shmuel and he goes to find Shmuel’s father and they both get lost; And Bruno’s parents go and ty and find them but the time they relized where he was they had both been gased. The main point about the movie is how a German makes friends with a Jew and they visit each other everyday as soon as bruno moves near him. I would rate this movie a 10/10 because it is a good movie to watch and it is very sad too.

  57. I immensly enjoyed the movie The Boy in the Striped Pyjama’s. It was a heart renching story about an innocent German boy Bruno was caught up in the war, his father who was a german soldier and also his father’s persecution of the jewish people. After moving house and living close to a Jewish concentration camp, Bruno makes friends with a small Jewish boy through the wire fence of the camp and wonders why his friend is always in his ’striped pyjamas’. I give this movie a 10/10, the movie shows the innocents of the boys friendship who are unknowingly caught up in such stong racial prejudice.

  58. this movie made me cry for days. i love it but then i hate it. the end is soooo horribly sad. bruno and his friend are so cute. i can’t believe that the nazi caught jewish families and burned them to death or kept them as slaves. It is so cute how bruno and his friend went to look for jewish boy’s father that went missing. The mother should have left with her two kids before one of them went in the prison. its so sad and a great movie at the same time. bruno is my favourite character and would have missed him dearly. you have to watch this movie.

I loved this movie , although I did cry in it. I liked this movie because it had an unexpected ending and kept you holding on until the end. My favourite part was when the jewish boy and the other boy become friends and meet at the gate. This movie is great and I suggest you watch it. 10 / 10 ! 🙂

This movie i actually cried in it.( everytime i watched it) this movie is set in world war one and how all the jewish’s are caught and killed. The part which i found most sad was when the poor jewish boy was given a scone by the other little boy and the poor jewish boy was hit and punched by a soldier and marks all over his face. Poor boy. This movie aswell as a book was actually true well about the jewish were back in world war 1. i would reccomand this movie for anyone older then 11 but likes sad movies.
