The blog for books and movies

Rosie Black is on the run to save her family and uncover the truth.

Five hundred years into the future, the world is a different place. The Melt has sunk most of the coastal cities and Newperth is divided into the haves, the “Centrals”; the have-nots, the “Bankers”; and the fringe dwellers, the “Ferals”. Rosie Black is a Banker. When Rosie finds an unusual box, she has no idea of the grave consequences of her discovery. A mysterious organisation wants it – and they’ll kill to get it. Forced to rely on two strangers, Rosie is on the run. But who can she trust? Pip, the too attractive Feral, or the secretive man he calls boss? From Earth to Mars, Rosie must learn the secrets of the box. Before it’s too late.

  1. I loved this. There’s a great vibe to this book – which doesn’t sag in momentum – the plot kept moving forward making it an energetic and captivating read. The prose is just lovely, clean and fresh, I’m a fan.
I adore Rosie. Mostly, I love that she stuffs things up a fair bit. She does things she’s not supposed to – she’s not always thinking straight. I love teens (and people) who have the best of intentions but somehow still manage to screw up and fudge their way along. Ultimately, she’s one tough girl that I care oh-so-immensely about. She’s inventive, and a strong protag. You will love her 🙂

I really liked this book!! It is written really well and it puts you straight in the action. My favourite character is Pip, I loved reading about him and all the mischievous things he got up to. It was full of energy the whole time. Rylee starts out really dark and mysterious, but then he turns out really kind. I love how Rosie keeps making new friends and enemies. This book really keeps you on the edge of your seat, I recommend this book to people who love a bit of adventure and action, Lots of my friends have read this and all thought really highly of it. Once again, I really LOVE it and YOU would too! I rate this book a 8/10.

I really liked this book! I thought it had really great character and it was very well written. Rosie Black, the protagonist of this book, is written to be very witty, quick thinking, brave, and at times could be a bit of a smart-alec. My favourite character would have to be Pip, and Lara Morgan has written his personality with a very mysterious flair. Pip is a very caring and loving character. I also enjoyed the romance intertwined with the drama and action, and it wasn’t too full on. This book is packed with action, drama, romance and a complex web of different emotions of different characters, and as it is written from a third person view it gave a view from not just the main character, but all of them, which I really liked. I would recommend this book who likes action, as this book is full of it. It will have you on the edge of your seat! 8/10

I love this book and the emotions and feelings the characters go through. The highlight of this book for me was when the girls found out what was inside the box. My favourite character was Rosie because she was brave to sacrifice so much for her family and do the right thing no matter what crisis she was in. I liked the romance and drama it gave to the reader. I was hooked into the book quite quickly. The intensity of this book was quite strong and when all hope seemed to be gone Rosie still pulled through. I would recommend this book to people who like drama and romance mixed together. I would give this book a rating a 9 out of 10.

  5. This series is so good, and also by an Australian author. I loved this series because it had the perfect mix of action, romance and drama. My favourite character would have to be Rosie, because she is so brave and willing to sacrifice anything (even her life) to fight for what is right. All of the books work so well together, the author has done a fantastic job. I would recommend this series to people who enjoyed the Hunger Games and also Harry Potter, because it has an out of world experience to it.

  6. This series is a recent series that is fantastic! I love the book because it is the kind of genre I love to read with some action/adventure, romance, crime, out of this world and much more. is about a girl called rosie in the future and she accidently puts her life and her loved ones in danger. I would love to say my favourite part but the truth is I don’t have a favourite part. My favourite characters would be rosie and pip. I definately suggest this book to TWILIGHT & HARRY POTTER fans that are stuck looking for a new book to read. It will take a while to get into it but then its fantastic!

By the way if you read this there is a second book called EQUINOX and a new one coming out soon.

    Please read!!!

  7. I recommend The Rosie Black Chronicles: Genesis. Oh My God!!!! This book was amazing!!! The book author is an Aussie lady, Lara Morgan. Its based in Perth and set 500 years into the future. Newperth had survived the Melt but when now people would refer to you as your class; A Banker, a Central or a Feral. Genesis about a girl called Rosie Black (a Central) and she finds this boxs with a pendant, a old digi and a key when exploring with her friend Juli (a Banker). But when the girls plug the digi into the com, all that comes up onto the screens is ‘Code key activated’ and ‘Shore beacon activated. Retrieval team to recon status’. The girls don’t know whats going on but they will definitely pay for it.. God! This book was absolutely amazing!! I could not get my nose out of the book! I thought is was mind blowing! From hover cars to living on spaceships. From grunts to the Senates. And living as a Central to living as a Feral. God! I loved it! I absolutely adored Pip and Rosie! Amazing together! The way that Lara describes Pip is astonishing! He seems soooo hot and gosh, do I want him to exist in real life! I have no idea how someone could come up with a story about us leaving on Mars and all the secret gangs and business that the Heilos get up too.. I don’t know how someone could come up with a concept like this! But turns out Lara Morgan did! Genesis had drama, action, betrayal, romance, sadness.. Almost cried when Pip discovered where Yuang put the testing bodies. The book is amazing and I highly recommend you to read it! 10/10 and 12+. I can’t wait till November when the next book, Equinox comes out!! Can’t wait! Read Genesis now!!!
