The blog for books and movies

When his guardian dies in suspicious circumstances, fourteen-year-old Alex Rider finds his world turned upside down.

Within days he’s gone from schoolboy to superspy. Forcibly recruited into MI6, Alex has to take part in gruelling SAS training exercises. Then, armed with his own special set of secret gadgets, he’s off on his first mission.

His destination is the depths of Cornwall, where Middle Eastern multimillionaire Herod Sayle is producing his state-of-the-art Stormbreaker computers. Sayle’s offered to give one free to every school in the country – but MI6 think there’s more to the gift than meets the eye.

Only Alex can find out the truth. But time is running out and he soon finds himself in mortal danger. It looks as if his first assignment may well be his last…

i used to love these books and i kind of still do. The worst book is when he is betrayed, but its is also the best because i couldn’t stop reading when he fell down the hole into the Jelly Fish tank, i thought it was scary. i would rate these series 8/10.

  2. Alex Rider is an action-packed book about a 14 year old boy who works for the government. In this particular book, Alex is assigned to watch a much-loved TV personality, because he is suspected of being part of a secret assassin organisation. Alex tries hard to balance work, home life, and keeping his secret

If your into the action/adventure style, this book is probably the best you could read. After his guardian dies in a suspicious car crash, 14-year-old Alex Rider’s life takes a turn for the weird, and he is sucked into becoming a teenage spy for M16. After this, a crazy adventure ensues, in which Alex’s persistence, courage and abilities are tested and Alex realises that he’s in deeper than he thinks.

  4. This book is fantastic. I love this book. The first time I read it and finished the book I asked my mum if she could get me the book and the rest of the series. This movie has action non stop and thats what I love most about it. Alex rider shows great skills and courage. He went through a rough time after his uncle died but had enough strength to overcome that and become a spy like his uncle. Alex never knew his uncle was a spy until some agents told him. I have not only read the book but i have also seen the movie and it is just non stop action the whole way through. My favourite part was when he was at the car gabage place and when he fought all those men off. It was so cool and I would recommend this for 11 and up. (:

  5. What do you expect to be doing at age 14? Do you think at 14 you’d have the skills to be a spy? Well poor Alex Rider was forced to do just that after the death of his uncle. Alex lived with his uncle because his parents died. The police told him his died uncle in a car accident. But when he looks at his uncle’s car, he sees bullet holes and blood stains. He knows the police are lying and soon finds himself in an intense operation with M.I.6, the British secret agent organization. He finds himself in a world of gadgets, car chases, and assassins. Will Alex be able to complete the assignment he was given by M.I.6 or will his fate be the same as his uncle’s? You’ll have to read Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz to find out!
This book is a great page-turning thriller! To be able to picture Alex do daring spectacular stunts, like jumping from the side of one window to another, more than ten stories off the ground is very imaginative. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Also, when Alex was in a car chase he had to think on his feet and be quick to decide whether he should use a gadget or not. Being able to do this is not only a quick thinker but also creative.

I would recommend this book to people who like action and adventure.

  6. I LOVE the Alex Rider series!!!! They are soooooo good. If you only read the blurb to decide if you will like this book, that is not enough. You need to read some of the actual book. Alex Rider is pretty much a teenage spy, working for M16, the employers of his dead uncle. M16 always somehow rope Alex in, and make him do or help them somehow, when he doesn’t want to. He is good at what he does, and he is good at deceiving others. This book is an action-packed adventure, and will leave you hungry for more.
    I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!

  7. Storm Breaker is a book that you think oh this is going to be an action packed boy book and that you’ll read the blurb and put it down put but its not, you start to read it and you can’t put it down, My favourite character was probably Alex Rider, because his is always on a mission trying to help someone or even kill someone, not one part I didn’t enjoy, If I could change something I would probably change that there be more main characters, I would probably recommend this book to about 11 year and up, I think that any gender can read this book.

  8. Storm Breaker is a great book that packs a lot of punch. It is exciting and fast-paced.
My favourite character is Alex. That might be just because he is the main character and we hear his point of view all the time but he’s still the one I like the most. He is brave, smart and a risk-taker, sometimes too risky.
The storyline is basically Alex is a spy for MI6 and has to defeat a baddie- the common storyline for action books. The difference that makes Storm Breaker stand out from the rest is it’s comedy and imagination.
A great book for anyone who wants a long but fun read. I liked it, so pick it and and have a flick through. You might just too!

  10. I love this book, it’s the beginning of the Alex rider series. My favourite character in this book is obviously Alex. I felt really sad when i heard that his uncle, Ian Rider had died, but he handled it really well. He sounds really adventurous and courages when he sneaks around and ends up in a car crusher just to figure out who his father really was. my least favourite character is Herod Sayle, he is way too evil. The worst book is of course when he is betrayed, but its is also the best because i couldn’t stop reading when he fell down the hole into the Jelly Fish tank, it was really scary and i though someone was going to die or someone was going to save him. But Alex is super smart so who would’ve though he would have exploding toothpaste? I love it when the jellyfish lands on the lady’s face. I definitely recommend this book if your into non stop action!

He meets many people and goes on many adventures and missions. It is full of action and a bit of comedy but it’s great- but you have to read all of the series because they’re fantastic if you’re into non stop action!
