The blog for books and movies

coverHaving spent 27 years behind the glass walls of his enclosure in a shopping mall, Ivan has grown accustomed to humans watching him. He hardly ever thinks about his life in the jungle. Instead, Ivan occupies himself with television, his friends Stella and Bob, and painting. But when he meets Ruby, a baby elephant taken from the wild, he is forced to see their home, and his art, through new eyes.

  1. THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN is the tale of a silverback gorilla who’s forgotten how to be a gorilla in many ways. Raised in a house with people who fed him ice cream cones and took him to baseball games, Ivan grows rambunctious and ends up creating finger paintings as one of the star attractions in a mall circus. When Ruby, a baby elephant arrives, Ivan promises to save her from a lifetime chained in a tiny cage. To do so, he needs to reclaim his title as silverback, the leader and protector of his group.

  3. I recommend The One Only Ivan. This book really takes an emotional toll on you. Each time you flip through the pages you just can’t help yourself but to read the next page because you have the urge to know what happens next. You are happy one second and then the next you are sad. Once you finish the book you just feel a relief (in a good way). If you have read this or are going to read it you will understand what i mean. I recommend this book to ages 13 and up and i rate this book 9/10.
